Wild West town for miniature wargaming

- Hey Hey
Adam, Scott and I built this wild west town (which we called Complaint) a few years ago. It was inspired by the Sherriffs office Scott brought into the shop once and the TV series Deadwood which we watched whilst building the town.
Some pieces have not been finished and others need only slight touches to finish them off. We used the town for playing games of Legends of the Old West - a rule system published by Warhammer Historical.
Adam (from miniterrain) has been asking me for some pictures ... which is why I filmed this video as well as sending him the photographs at the ends of the clip. You can check out the awesome terrain he is building and follow his progress as he sets up his miniature terrain studio at / miniterrain .
The background music accompanying the pics at the end of the clip is by Kevin MacLeod from www.incompetech.com and is licenced under Creative Commons. Check out his awesome site for more royalty free music. Thanks Kevin, and dont forget to donate to his site so we all can continue to enjoy his music.
Cheers

That is a fantastic accumulation of western scenery...It would be perfect for a Savage West RPG campaign from Savage Worlds...great attention to detail...thanks for posting up this vid...it went into my favorites...Jim.
The town looks awesome, love the attention to the details.
Fantastic, the devil is in the detail, superb little elements that add so much character, Epic!
Splendid buildngs, they add a lot to the atmosphere, have to try this period one day...
Viv you always crack me up, I love your videos and I cant get enough.
- all the barrels, crates, sacks etc are from the Cavern Accessories Mold ... the guns were from our bits box from various model kits we've collected over the years
I know how you feel .... like you, watching a wild west building 'come to life' is amazing ... its a pain the arse to do the cladding, but once its done and you can start adding extra details, its such a good feeling.
I always wanted to see something like this !! Great job !
I've never seen the entire board like this. Awesome stuff!!!
Looks amazing
Very cool. I loved the look...and would make for a nice settlement in Malifaux.
@Alismuffin - yeah, I used sawdust - i have a video up showing how I make it. and the cliffs are made from regular expanded polystyrene (the white stuff) covered in a plaster sealant
@Generalsplatton - thanks for the comments, detail always makes the difference!
nice table well done to all who where apart of it
Awesome details
great looking town!
Great looking board!
Super! Looks absolut great! Greetings from Germany!
Awesome stuff!
Thanks for checking it out ... I'll add it to the list (probably already on there!), really need to get back into tutorials, we'll see though - keep your eyes open!
Thats Bad ass man.. Gives me an idea about making a town after High Planes Drifter.. Painting it all red. Nice work guys..
This is perfect for Wild West Exodus!!
that would go well with an HO scale bachmann locomotive and tender, combine and passenger car configuration which could go by it in a western train layout!
great stuff!
@rastan1977 - ha! thanks for the comments ... appreciated!
the are clad in individual strips of balsa wood (we most o them, I think one or two just had a sheet glue on and then scored)
Brigade Games in the US sell Deadwood figures in 28mm. Great figures.
Fantastico🖐
really nice
This SOOO makes me want to try an idea a friend and I came up with... D&D in a wild west setting/world..
Great stuff..total nerdgasm!
Basically Steven Kings Gunslinger series 😎
cool, maybe games workshop should work with rockstar to make red dead redemption miniatures! Good job by the way
Really nice table m8!
@VividAdventures2010 - I swear I've shown it before ... there are a few pieces missing but mostly those are extra rails, carriages and the like
that scenary look sso awesome!! have you don't a an ancient greece terrain scenary board? i think that would be pretty kool to do too!
For the outsides of the buildings, did you clad those in balsa also or cut the planks into the foamcore and render them?
i like it
Any clue which Hurst Arts molds Adam used for the accent pieces? Also the guns were they just left over bits or were those a mold as well?
like in cs1.6 XD.... awesome!!!
@wolt96 - I could .. yes. Will I ... perhaps. These types of buildings have a fairly basic construction technique, it wouldn't be hard to whip something up
Dude, will we ever see a Wild West battle report?!
...What rules did you use for the previous game anyway?! I've just started looking in to 'Blackwater Gulch'.
Thanks man!
The Hirst arts mold with the open end barrels and boxes is impossible to get out or so I thought. You seem to have got a few out without breaking them. :(
Hehe, it is one of the more trickier pieces ... with some practice you'll learn how to pop them out everytime, mostly ;)
Please show us how to build this stuff!
Wow ... this is another old video. Thanks for watching! I know spend most of my time working with MDF at Knights of Dice so I don't get much of a chance to scratch build stuff these days, but I do miss it!!
didnt realize the quality you guys turn out.I must watch more of your stuff.Where did you get hold of the signs mate? There the icing on the cake?
10/10 Who needs BTP- There way to big for there boots and have become completly boring to watch.
Sound thanks mate, I'm just being lazy looking for a quicker way to do them cos I've made the saloon and was ready to kill myself after gluing all the balsa strips on the frontage! I do love this stuff though, it's a labour of love!
Can you make some tutorials that would be awesome
@figureshobby2010 - I'd rather a different company worked with Rockstar ... I wouldnt want to pay the price GW would ask for their figures ;) So many awesome companies produce wild west figures, though I dont know if RDR is purely wild west - never played it.
@Kanvass1 - hahaha
