- Episode 211: PUNCH ONLY CHALLENGE ! Kung-Fu Master !! @DrinkGameswithJosh set up a challenge to play this game with punch ONLY ! This is my attempt at the Arcade version ! How far can YOU get ??
Welcome back to Arcade Sunday, your source of home Arcade gameplay, arcade game play strategy, coverage of interesting and sometimes, unknown Arcade games from the 80's , 90's and early 2000's ! In some of my other videos, I cover arcade game emulation and how I do it to achieve an almost perfect home arcade experience!
I knew you would have a go at this one! Awesome!
Thank you! This game is a timeless classic.
A timeless classic King-Fu Master is Matt. You really are a punch master and it shows in your video. Thank you for sharing this with us bro. 8^)
Anthony..
Thank you ! I kinda grew up using the "punch only" method for higher scores... unfortunately, that final boss got me, but he, too, is 100% possible to beat with punch. I just messed up there. Thanks for watching!
it was cool to see this game again loved this today
Glad you enjoyed it. Amazing that a game from 1984 is still relevant, and will remain as a classic forever. An awesome game for sure!
You’re a punchmaster dude! Heck yeah! Well done my friend. This really is a great game. Love how easy it is to just jump into the game and have fun. 🤙🏼
Thanks a lot! Yup, punch for me me works well! Pity I messed up at the final boss, but yea... super cool game, and thanks for the "punch only" challenge! Cheers !
That is an awesome challenge, I had a challenge on my channel a while back called the kens kick challenge haha you play street fighter 2 and only use kicks with ken it fun yet hard challenge haha
Kung fu master was not a game I played much of but my late brother use to love this game may he rest in peace❤
Lovely gameplay mate 😊😊
Ah, that SF2 "Ken's Challenge" sounds like quite a difficult one ! Mmm.... Perhaps one day I'll do that myself one day! Sorry to hear about your brother, man. Never easy to deal with - I can only imagine, but great to hear he loved some classic games, and no doubt had an everlasting impact on your life. Respect - He'll always be a part of you.
@@arcadesunday4592 thank you mate for the kind words ✌️
Nicely done, Well played mate, This is a game I had never heard of before I saw Josh play It And now you And it does look like fun So definitely one I will be playing in the future, Fantastic video I hope You had a wonderful weekend
Thank you! Where I live, this game was EVERYWHERE in the Arcades (back in the day). It's an absolute cult classic. The way to play this (back then) was 2-player challenge mode. There were *many* informal competitions back then...
Nice play through Matt, I’ve always loved this game but really struggled with the arcade version. I seemed to do better on the NES version.
I on the other hand only ever played the Arcade version so I'd probably suck at the NES version! Lol!
Dude! The way to beat the last boss is going back and forth and low punch. To jump and press punch...not a very good idea! But the way you beat the 4th boss was very impressive!
Thanks... in fact, I watched one of your recent videos where you dispose of the last boss using a few punches *after* I posted my video! Haha. I usually mix up low kicks and punch for that boss, so when I got there while filming, I had no idea what to do!! I'll try the punch only stratergy next time!
I wonder if you drag the remaining knife thrower behind you like the one around 8:50, will the game stop spawning groups of enemies. I've seen games where they stop spawning enemy groups unless you kill all enemies onscreen (such as in Galaxian or Space Invaders). You might cheat your way to a boss while dodging the knife throws every now and then.
Yes you can use this technique, however it can get dangerous, as sometimes new enemies appear on the left, and sometimes its ANOTHER knife thower, so it *can* work, but super risky... Good idea and definitely worth a shot though!
@@arcadesunday4592Oh, no! Ha hah I love when I see trick like this in games. Maybe it's because I suck going the normal route of games, but I also think devs put these tricks in their game purposely like where you can position a ship in a shooter to avoid all shots from a boss.
@WhatsOnMyShelf it's these little "tricks" that make these games fun to learn. To me, most of the mid / late 80's Arcade games had that element of playing differently to achieve a different outcome (be it highscore or high level or finding hidden areas, etc). A very interesting concept that we / I am only realizing DECADES after these games were released. Such talent and unique style went into each of these classic games... which makes them all SO special.
@@arcadesunday4592 I feel like this translated to a lot of the early console games too. Finding hidden paths and bonuses setup purposely by the developers was always something I enjoyed. It's the recognition by the developer that they knew you would find this eventually.

Thanks for watching!
MY PLEASURE! 🤍
