These antennas are incredible for what they are and have been absolutely perfect for the type of portable stuff I do. Nice to see the old homebase rig in use too!
I like the fact that the a99 is a indestructible antenna in strong winds. Those kite poles for the t2lt are only rated for 20mph winds. Good review of the signals.
Interesting content.. just spent £100+ on a new Antron 99 then watching your video makes me wonder why ive waisted good money on a top-notch antenna.. ony to conclude my surplus coax would have been a better bet . 😢 😢😢😢 73's CT5060
The homemade is neither a T2LT (which has a terminating resistor) or a Bazooka (which uses end-shorted coax). Its an end-connected dipole. You proved the same length of wire in the air at the same height picks up the same signal.
For me this looks a great solution for home base changeble antenna / mast. i have a spiderbeam 40FT with a top of 8MM outside, 1MM wall thiknes. it's easy to put up, and lift it even 20FT more in the air next to a alumium pole. How mucht Power can the T2LT have?
Hi Bart , yes a very cheap easy to make aerial. I'm not sure how much power it will take , ive only used it QRP. I guess the quality of the coax will effect the power handling ..
I made myself one and I wasn't expecting it to perform so well. Too bad I didn't know before I bought the ML-145 mobile as a ,,base´´ antenna. Also, can I have a question. What could I use to mount it, you said you had some sort of fishing rod? I'm guessing the pole can't be made out of metal. Thank you in advance.
Hi , well done for making your own . yes I use a fibreglass fishing rod/ pole. It has to be none conducive so a metal pole is no good . Not sure where in the world you are but ebay should have what you need . Try searching for flag pole as well as fishing pole , something like windjammer . If you get stuck let me know and I'll do my best to help ... take care, thanks Ben
@@benm1mlm846 Thank you Ben, appreciate the info. I live in the Czech republic, so eBay is not as popular over here, but they do deliver here just fine. I'm gonna look into it. Thanks again and have a nice day.
@@clake8964 I've just had a quick Google and it's possible you have Decathlon in Czech Republic . I've bought over 10 fibreglass poles from decathlon, 6 were for the Hex beam I built in another video . Hopefully they stock them in your country, they were the cheapest I could find in UK..
@@mduffy5453 yes fairly straight forward especially if you've done similar before , if not just keep trying till it works .you'll need some coax ,pl259 and a former for the coil , I used 4inch waste pipe and an SWR meter ..
Location can make several S-units difference, between a 1/4 wave peak or a 1/2 wave null. Move the T2LT closer to the first station in 2 foot increments and you'll find a spot where it will best the A99.

Don't have many friends I'm betting.
Did I blink and miss the bazooka test? I didn't see it.
Try 16T on a 66mm former - you should get a wider bandwidth.

Looks well sir how did it perform

Very close in test of signals.
Does the t2lt work for 27 usb
Yes. No problem.
I'm buying a T2lt for the garden as wife don't fancy permanent aerial up..
May have to divorce her.
Excellent, have you thought of making your own ?
Got no patience and I'm a clusy shit.
@@mduffy5453 fair enough, if you do decide to and need any help let me know and I'll do what I can 👍

I've only just got back into CB about 2 months.

Impressive antenna, that. How far away from you were those guys?
BTW: Why on earth do CBers use echo? Bloody stupid thing it is.
Thanks James , As the crow flies Id say the furthest is around 10 miles but isn't line of sight with hills between us.
Yaya knowow, Ii can'tan't figureigure thatat outut eitherther
CBers use echo because it drives ham users mad! 😆
