    You are sooo right about having dedicated space. I’m in a 2 bedroom apartment, and I use the master as my studio. Who needs all that room to sleep? 😆

    • @ElizabethStHilaire
      @ElizabethStHilaire  2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I think that’s an excellent idea, using the master bedroom as your studio. I would totally do that! Having a dedicated space is worth every bit of it and who does need a room to sleep?

    All the things you shared were so inspiring! But it also makes it really clear that if you want to make a living as an artist, you prepare yourself, work hard, and take advantage of opportunities when they come. It is also really clear that it takes time and does not happen overnight. I work on a piece of our dining table, and while it's not easy, I am grateful for the space I have and my husband's support and toleration of the space I've colonized and the messes I have to make to do my work. Thanks for your videos and for being you-- you are fabulous.

    • @ElizabethStHilaire

      Lisa you are 100% right! I am glad that you have a section of the dining room table. As long as you can make a little bit of a mess and leave it out, that is a beautiful thing! Thanks for watching and thanks for such a positive comment :-)

    So much great information!!! You have been such an inspiration and mentor to me ever since I laid eyes on your work at the Kessler Gallery at the Grand Bohemian in Asheville back in 2012 or 2013...lost track!! I even have some of your books and DVD. I remember reaching out to you once back in 2014 about copyrights and licensing, etc after completing a commission piece that they then wanted to use for marketing and you were so amazing to share some great information, encouragement, tips, etc.with me. I still dabble back and forth between oil painting and mixed media, finding that they keep me thinking fresh and feeling inspired, but I have to admit the mixed media is winning over my heart for its creativity and freedom from getting hung up on details!! LOL!! Thank you so much for inspiring female artists, I love seeing the sisterhood lifting one another!! ❤️

    Thanks for this video--very interesting and informative! I think the best thing you said were "always say yes"! I do enjoy and learn a lot of techniques from your videos. You obviously have worked diligently thru the years justly earning all the fame you have now. Working with your Klimt collection at the moment. Love the jacket!!!

    • @ElizabethStHilaire
      @ElizabethStHilaire  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      First of all Elizabeth, thanks for the support with the Klimt collection, I appreciate that. Secondly the jacket was hand-painted by Daniel Chimowitz, super talented and fun, funky stuff! I appreciate your kind words about my videos, yes I have worked diligently through the years, I’m a hard worker and was raised that way. Plus I’m a type A personality, I don’t like to sit still. So I guess that’s the secret sauce combined with always saying yes! (I learned that from my career in graphic design)

    There is nothing wrong with commercial design. Most artists don't understand business or the fact that they need to sell their art to survive. I'd say you were smarter than 98% of the people who get art degrees. Andy Warhol began the same way you did and he still worked for commercial clients for quite a while after his own fine art was selling quite well.
