    Love the short-pips game. I'm glad some of the Chinese are letting young people still develop their talents whichever way they go.

    Too bad Yan Sheng was not in Budapest to train with Ma Long before the final game with Falck. So Lin Guoliang by himself had to step in to train with Ma Long. But it was succesful :)

      yes, each time Y.Sen is forced to move and rally on the FH side, he lost the point.

      This is the danger of using more rpb in a game: it sets up strong topspin exchanges between both players slightly back from the table. Pips jab-blocks then become useless, and the pips on the forehand side have to deal with a _dropping_ , heavily topspun ball.

      Yeah you def want to stay close to the table as a SP player. But you do have options. If you feel comfortable, you can chop with them. Many modern defenders now a days seem to favor SP over LPs in chopping to vary spin. You'll also notice a lot of times when penholders like this get pushed off the table they'll twiddle and hit those forehands with the inverted to get them back in the point. But yeah you definitely don't want to get off the table too often.

      Use the Donic Defplay Senso (blade). Try the Qing rubber by Yinhe as your long pips BH rubber. And put a Tenergy 05 or Evolution MX-P on the FH because you'll need the ability to attack and to serve with your FH.

      It's faster but produces less spin

    • @SteveSoper1979
      @SteveSoper1979 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Spyro is right. To add on that, they also react to in coming less. It's hard to explain. I've played short pips for years now also having played inverted. To me they simply feel more controlled and easier to place the ball exactly where you want to. I suppose it depends on the player. I've seen several players who have relatively flat swings and hit more speed rather than spin. For those people, short pips could be an option.

      According to his Wikipedia page, "His blade is Stiga Clipper, his forehand rubber is Stiga Clippa and his reverse backhand rubber is Stiga Mendo Energy."

      he used tsp spin pips with avalox p700 then he moved to the clipper cr , then tsp spinpips were banned and the ball changed size he started using 802-40 pips but acording to experience of people that played with old tsp spinpips were far moore superior to 802-40.hes backhand rubber it maybe a stiga one back in the late 90s there were good alternatives to sriver and mark v

      @ktosomcosom19 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@kenshiro11 his rpb rubber was Stiga Mendo probably with custom sponge. And yes, old Spinpips were giving players using them a lot of advantage over the rest, since they could in many ways play just like inverted (Guoliang's mid paced loops, for instance, had monstrous amounts of spin, something never seen before among pips) but their speed and spin insensivity, and especially a deceptive effect on some blocks and pushes, were making them superior.

    ITTF should raise the ban of spinpips already, it was politically motivated and disgusting. If they really care about unpredictability of LP's spin reversal just make a regulation to limit the length of the pips, but they just want the old age of Waldner and Persson while the whole TT world has move on. Plastic ball has shown to have less spin (expected) and actually bounce HIGHER so defensive players are nerved even more. They clearly pushed it only so slower attacking swing has a chance, but in the end pro player just get more athletic and make the game to be more one dimensional AND more expensive: everyone now faster sponge to compensate since the bounce is higher you kind of not need to compensate for spin compared to speed.

    • @blueheart9873
      @blueheart9873 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      I think they should just create tables from a different material. Something less less reactive to spin with a slightly lower bounce so it gets compensated

    • @kijoan8319
      @kijoan8319 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      They did limit the length (or rather the length to width ratio)

      The anti-Chinese sentiment of ITTF is terrible.The Chinese really hold Table Tennis dear in their hearts dedicating huge resources to the development of the game while in the Western world it's considered basically a basement sport for the nerds.The ITTF is such an incompetent amateurish organisation!
