This helped out tremendously. Our microwave all of a sudden went out while microwaving some food. Replaced the thermal fuse and its back in action!

Mine was completely dead, no lights or power. I tried to replace this part but it did nothing. When I checked for continuity there was none, but found out this part can't be tested that way. It opens at high temperatures I think. But then I replaced the cylinder fuse - - it had no continuity either but was black. When I took it to the repair place they gave me a ceramic one to replace (he said the original glass one was not good). Good as new! Microwave is up and running :)

I have a GE JVM1540dn1ww, it went completely dead, the thermal fuse was replaced after I discovered the old one had zero continuity, and the other fuses are good also. The electric outlet is good. Still, nothing comes on. What should I do next?

I have a GE Model CVM2072SM2SS Everything works but the food doesn't get hot. I was going to pull it off the wall and take a look. I bet either the thermal fuse or the Magnatron is bad. I would assume the fuse has continuity when just sitting, but I wouldn't know how to test the Klystron/Magnatron. So if its not the thermal fuse I may just replace the unit.

My microwave does not heat and the turn table does not move. Could this be more than a thermal fuse

+Anne Rosen Yes. Several components can c cause a no heat condition in a microwave.

Daniel Mavimbela there is also a white, or grey, cylindrical 20amp fuse on the mini cpb where the power supply cable terminates, inside the componet cavity. it's before the L1hot wire goes to the really big transformer that supplies the magnetron with power. if you had a power surge or lightning strike, that fuse is prob Bad. I recommend you purchase at least two though. the first one may blow soon as you put it in. and the e yes will sa3vw you a return trip to home depot or Lowe's. I encounter lots of those fuses being blown after big lightning storms.
