Happy Birthday Kate! I turned 56 two days ago. I had to work but I did manage to squeeze in a nice evening ride.
Enjoyable video. I tried a Norton 961SP recently, great looking bike. My BMW R1200RS had a similar non starting issue. The key fob battery was dead, not the bike. Incidentally my little granddaughter (not quite 2) was transfixed by you girls on the bikes

Happy birthday, Kate! Good to see you celebrating it in style. My mum celebrated her 85th birthday in hospital getting her fifth hip replacement- the fourth on that side. She was in hospital five years ago getting the same thing done for her 80th. Unfortunately, it came apart and she had a fall and broke three ribs. She’s darn tough, my old mum. She’s pretty crippled now with rheumatoid arthritis but she keeps her head up. Sharing this to remind you to celebrate all your birthdays, because every single one is special. Enjoy your birthday week celebrations, Kate!!!

I know 'old' British bikes are supposed to have character, but that Norton sounds rough as.
BMW keyless - probably needed a fresh battery in the fob.

I'm sure it's been figured out by now but is the problem with the R12 the keyless fob system. I've heard bad things about Ducati's with that and some rumblings about BMW's.

The keyless ignition fob should have a passive RFID chip. If the battery is flat, you can start the bike by placing the key next to the antenna, which is usually under the seat. Google is an essential part of the toolkit for a modern bike. 🙂
It wasn't the battery on the bike or the fob weirdly enough. It had full voltage ⚡️

I was up in the lakes yesterday, and did wrynose and Hardnot both ways 👍. There were three guys at the bottom of Hardnot that had never done it before, one of them looked really nervous 😅.

Happy Birthday Kate! A great way to spend it out on the bikes with the girls. A shame that one of the bikes chose to have a mardy moment at the start though, you must all be gutted. Anyway a brilliant part one. I visited the lakes a few times in different seasons during the 2000's for photography and loved every moment but sadly not on a bike but maybe in the future I'll add it to my bucket list. I look forward to the next episode following the journey and shenanigans of the ride out. I love the look of the Norton. Many thanks for sharing.
