What I like about these homebrews is they're not the power fantasies that so often come up - "My level one Wizard has 400 hit points and 30 AC with unlimited Wish spells"
From what I can gather, this feels like its biggest weakness is ranged attacks. Specifically spellcasters. Having less speed means you can't catch up to something that can, say, cast Haste or Longstrider on itself and get away from you. Or blast you with Fireball. Sure, against more martial classes, it's going to be easy to tank hits and then make it so they can't go after anyone, or even drain their health down while they flail about at you, but mages are going to be an issue
It took me some time thinking how to flavour the 17th level ability for a Monk more thiccie than sticky (Po/Honda), I came up with making it a steam fog enveloped by ki, the excess fat from the body leaving and causing the monk to lose a bit of weight, making them faster than before (Flavour way of recontextualising teleporting) Question is, what worse? Being stuck in ooze or being surrounded by sweat steam?
Finally a subclass for Monk that I am excited about. It occurs to me that you could fluff Hunter’s Territory as some kind of goop vomited up by the monk and then bring to life Mortal Kombat’s barfy boy: Bo’ Rai Cho
With a bit of reflavouring, college of eloquence bard might work as a good multiclass to make a courtesan character, and unsettling words could also be rp'ed as being unsettling bc of the slimy voice or something

A Wizard with a few levels of Ooze Monk would work well for Ivan Ooze I think.
This is awesome. I love experiencing the out of the box thinking it took to create these. I am really excited about the Mad Scientist subclass my brother and I came up with for Artificer (Think Dr. Frankenstein, or Mister Sinister). I would love to play this through after we test play ours.
this is such a cool frickin subclass man!
Multi-class with Wire Weaver, now you've really got Venom
DM: ok Derek, what class are you playing?
Me, screaming: NOTHING MOVES THE BLOB!!!
This also brings to mind Zac from League of Legends. Cool subclass idea.
If I had a consistent group to play with I'd probably do the patreon. Instead here is my contribution to the algorithm.
Im just imagining a high-Con Hill Dwarf Oozemonk with Tough. Just a small mountain of Ooze.
What I like about these homebrews is they're not the power fantasies that so often come up - "My level one Wizard has 400 hit points and 30 AC with unlimited Wish spells"
Love the video and the subclass! It’s supercool and unique, quick question not related to the subclass, what show was used for the clip at 4:03??
If it's the cool bendy chick in black stabbing dudes, the movie is James Wan's "Malignant", apparently came out this year
@@aetherspiralknight bless thank you
Im going to be a scary gummy bear, the one that’s been cooking in the sun on your dashboard
From what I can gather, this feels like its biggest weakness is ranged attacks. Specifically spellcasters. Having less speed means you can't catch up to something that can, say, cast Haste or Longstrider on itself and get away from you. Or blast you with Fireball. Sure, against more martial classes, it's going to be easy to tank hits and then make it so they can't go after anyone, or even drain their health down while they flail about at you, but mages are going to be an issue
with the new ooze race coming out this sounds fun lmao
This is... beautiful.
Neat. Maybe I should have the community lol over my two homebrew fighter-hybrid classes once I've finished them.
Sounds very balanced and all that with stunning strike sounds like no one's getting away after level five.
It took me some time thinking how to flavour the 17th level ability for a Monk more thiccie than sticky (Po/Honda), I came up with making it a steam fog enveloped by ki, the excess fat from the body leaving and causing the monk to lose a bit of weight, making them faster than before (Flavour way of recontextualising teleporting)
Question is, what worse? Being stuck in ooze or being surrounded by sweat steam?
Finally a subclass for Monk that I am excited about.
It occurs to me that you could fluff Hunter’s Territory as some kind of goop vomited up by the monk and then bring to life Mortal Kombat’s barfy boy: Bo’ Rai Cho
I mean, drunken monk already fits him too well, though, so maybe best to get that element of his character from a different class?
@@Shalakor doesn’t fit him well enough if you love him mostly for his barf
This goes great with the new UA's Plasmoid race
With a bit of reflavouring, college of eloquence bard might work as a good multiclass to make a courtesan character, and unsettling words could also be rp'ed as being unsettling bc of the slimy voice or something
