    I've owned several trucks and consider my 2006 Ridgeline to be a truck. Payload is 1550 pounds and It can tow 5000 pounds. It does have a small bed but most newer mid size trucks do. Also, I am not an urban person by any estimate. No, it is not an offroad vehicle, but I don't do serious off roading, but the Ridge has carried me to some interesting hunting and fishing spots. We each have to choose based on what we want our trucks to do and some folks choose based on the image they want to project. I'm long retired, so I don't really think about image. I'm keeping it and probably leaving to a favored family member.

    Easy to replace cabin filter. Drop the glove compartment door and see the two hinges. Pop those out with a screw drive and door drops all the way down. Inside you will see the cabin filter plate. It’s the rectangular shape cover. Push the plastic clips over and the piece pops off. You will see the cabin filter. Pull it out and replace. You can TH-cam this replacement Very easy.

    I don't get why people say it "doesnt have the payload" of a normal truck. The standard v6 2006 Ridgeline can hold 1500 lbs in the bed and tow 5,000 pounds. A 2006 v6 Toyota Tacoma can hold 1400 lbs in the bed and tow 4,000.....Is the Ridgeline stronger than a Tundra or some F250 mega truck? No. But it never claimed to be.

    Here's my review own a used one for 8 years 2010 model: IMO it's very underpowered, but it can highway pass just find, the engine sounds more badass than it's actually is lol The newer ones have trans cooler I never overheated, towed car across the US, steep hills are a chore avoid if you can, it's doable but you will feel it, after 120k expect major repairs one after another lol. Water pump, cv joints, bushings, suspension stuff, AC, powersteering etc . I never got stuck in deep snow, up hills etc. High heat environments (mid west) will kill your roof interior. Leak at top driver side (common issue). Door and middle arm rest will wear and tear easy, the cup holder flaps water out easy I replaced twice next time I'll just remove it. The cabin blower is weird changed twice finally bought a aftermarket one other than OEM and it blows harder. Don't use that rear window alot it will break. navigation system cost a lot to repair or upgrade. Has nice sound system though. Gas mileage is trash city and town 14mpg, highway it's ok get about 17mpg. The headlights and rear light crack under high heat and bulbs unusually go out alot. Dealership or Honda specific shops are the only ones who know how to work on them outside of common car maintenance; especially ifs it's a transmission issue, you will have to take it to a dealer. There's three different fluids you need to be aware of: engine oil, trans oil and rear diff oil...make sure you change them accordingly (read car manual saves you money). I Enjoy this truck, biggest issue I have/had is with the weak ass transmission and interior wear and tear (for a vehicle at it's price they really cheaper out on material there) also there's a trans sensor that likes to go bad, 60 dollar part...cost you 400-600 to replace...easy to do yourself, but you need to fix it ASAP because it causes weird shifting and could damage or overheat trans. Engine itself has been stout and dependable. I rate it 7.7/10.

    We bought a 2006 new. Drove it to 400,000 km. Was super reliable, towed a light RV coast to coast, but sold it to get new Tacoma. Didn't like Tacoma ride. Missed the RL. So, we just picked up an '07 with 120,000 km. Great for around town, Costco runs, etc.

      @@runningrich To us, the RL is more "car like" in it's driving characteristics than the Taco. The Taco was kind of "floaty" on the highway at speed, something we never experienced with either RL. All ford explorers are essentially trash. The Chevy Avalanche and Cadillac Escalade EXT are for people who need either a work truck or a people hauler but not at the same time. The Honda Ridgeline is for people who need a vehicle with the full capabilities of a mid-sized SUV and about 2/3rds of the capabilities of a half ton truck.
      The Chevy Avalanche and Cadillac Escalade EXT can’t be beat in terms of hauling with their mid gate function and side storage areas.

      Mainly I think it's a "keeping up with the Joneses" thing. Tacoma is THE mid-size truck to own. Toyota's reputation for great trucks goes back decades and they've become a bit of a status symbol now (with a price to go with it). But the Ridgeline has Honda's great reputation behind it as well, but unfortunately people respond to status symbols more than they do clever, smart design. For 95% of people, the Ridgeline has all the features of a Tacoma that they actually need and it has more features that they won't realize they need until they have one. I live in Arizona, big truck country, and the majority of vehicles on the road are probably trucks. How many of those trucks actually go off road or pull trailers? Very, very few.

      It really depends on the overall condition of the vehicle but I feel the price is a bit high.

    • @tcj226
      @tcj226 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@runningrich Price also depends largely on region in the US. Midwest and northeast US prices are going to be lower because there's less demand for trucks back there. South and especially southwest the prices are higher, unfortunately. $7300 for a 135,000 mile Ridgeline is actually pretty good as long as it's in good shape.

Most of us that know first hand how the Ridgeline really is.... Know it IS a very well designed smooth riding and handling truck! You have to look at the new 2021 with the new front end! There are many other videos showing newer ridglines excelling at off roading and towing too!

      Honda lost me on the gen 2 Ridgeline. It still has the great trunk and bed, but they got rid of most of the clever in-cabin storage that the gen 1 had. I never had random crap laying around in my old Ridgeline because there was always a place to store it.

      A lot of people want to pay cash, never be upside down on a depreciating asset, nor have to pay for comprehensive and collision insurance, etc. We let the original owners eat those costs. Cars like this last 20 years and can go 250k without batting an eye, so why buy new?

    Fact filled video . 4 wheel drive on this vehicle = get stuck and call somebody with a truck . It will pull a small boat up the boat ramp but it’s not a truck . Raise the back seats throw a couple coolers in and you have a great “ truck “ for a trip to the grocery store . Honda’s version of the Ford Ranchero-or Chevy El Camino that were discontinued years ago .
