      @@pentillycraftsthere's no specific laws on merging only guidance
      But not following the guidance will certainly get you in trouble with your insurance
      But it's best not to argue at merging points and get into an accident because there is no guarantee it won't go knock for knock as many find out thinking they were going to be correct
      The highway code is written that if a rule say "MUST" it is in the law if it says "should or recommend " it is not
      Reasons it might go knock for knock

      Being overtaken. If a driver is trying to overtake you, maintain a steady course and speed, slowing down if necessary to let the vehicle pass. Never obstruct drivers who wish to pass. Speeding up or driving unpredictably while someone is overtaking you is dangerous.

      @@micky1up Here are some rules from the Highway Code that help you be a courteous driver:
      144 /3 You MUST NOT
      drive without reasonable consideration for other road users.
      147
      Be considerate.
      Be careful of and considerate towards all types of road users, especially those requiring extra care (see Rule 204).
      you MUST NOT throw anything out of a vehicle;
      try to be understanding if other road users cause problems; they may be inexperienced or not know the area well.
      be patient; remember that anyone can make a mistake.
      do not allow yourself to become agitated or involved if someone is behaving badly on the road. This will only make the situation worse. Pull over, calm down and, when you feel relaxed, continue your journey.
      slow down and hold back if a road user pulls out into your path at a junction. Allow them to get clear. Do not over-react by driving too close behind to intimidate them.
      Be considerate of other road users:
      Maintain a safe distance: Leave enough space to stop safely and maneuver if the car in front stops or an emergency vehicle needs to pass.
      Signal your intentions: Use your indicators to let other drivers know when you're turning, merging, or changing lanes.
      Be patient: Some drivers may be slower or more hesitant than you, so be understanding.
      Allow others to pass: Let pedestrians and cyclists cross in front of you, and allow cyclists and motorcyclists to pass through narrowings and chicanes.
      Don't hog the middle lane: Return to the left lane as soon as you safely pass.
      Use your horn appropriately: Use your horn to warn other drivers of your presence in appropriate circumstances, but don't honk to tell someone to speed up or because you're impatient.
      Turn off your fog lights: Only use your fog lights when visibility is seriously reduced, usually less than 100 meters.

    The driver at the low bridge done exactly the same thing i have done plenty times. The planners always used to send us to locations like that because at some point they sent a van to get through it and think all vehicles in the fleet can do it. To be fair their routing system didn't recognise water and tried to say it was only an hour between aberdeen & belfast.😂😂

    • @cloudmaker
      @cloudmaker 4 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      Hello Scott, this guy was trying to wind up a new planner in their office by sending him the pictures from the route he'd given him, he knew the road already and that turn he took at the end was the alternative route to miss the bridge. Your planners tale of an hour between Aberdeen and Belfast tickled me as that is how they used to work out how long it took us to deliver, they were using straight line mileage between places and even when they moved to real world road mileage they still used weight limit roads that we couldn't take. Trouble was no one in the logistics office had ever driven a lorry and most were youngsters with no knowledge of geography. All the best.

    @0:56 Some drivers either don’t care or simply don’t think when they change lanes, and it forces others to drive too close. It’s not just annoying-it’s reckless. But as much as you want to retaliate, you have to bite your tongue, back off, and let these scumbags in. The worst part? It’s the so-called "professional" drivers. They signal and switch lanes simultaneously, leaving no room to react to their incompetent driving.
    @1:45 Yielding to idiots might be one of the most frustrating things behind the wheel. I get it, I struggle with it too. But the reality is you’re never going to educate them-they’re wired wrong. And if you don’t yield, you’ll end up rewiring your own brain to their way of non-thinking, which is the last thing you want.
    @1:56 Now that we’ve softened penalties for what are considered “lower offenses,” we’re only going to see more of this. These morons know they can get away with it, so they push the limits more and more. That is, until their incompetence catches up with them and gets them killed.
    @3:56 It makes me wonder-what happens when foreign drivers with foreign licenses come over? Do they have to take another test? Surely they should, because different countries have different rules, and we need consistency on the road.
    @7:40 If you saw them coming up too fast, why not ease off the accelerator? On country roads, they have warning signs for a reason-“Junction Ahead.” You’ve got to be prepared, especially in unpredictable situations like that.

    (1)If a person, without lawful authority or excuse, in any way wilfully obstructs the free passage along a highway he is guilty of an offence and liable to [F1imprisonment for a term not exceeding 51 weeks or] a fine [F2or both].
