  • Radiant energy, whether in the form of the UV rays of sunlight or as ionizing electromagnetic and particulate radiation, is a well-established carcinogen.
    UV light is clearly implicated in the causation of skin cancers, and ionizing radiation exposure from medical or occupational exposure, nuclear plant accidents, and atomic bomb detonations has produced a variety of cancer.

    At 8:00 it says the latency period is different for leukemia versus solid tumors. There is often a lag of some years between radiological dose and cancer diagnosis, but I hadn't been aware that the likely length of the lag varies according to the type of cancer.
