Most definitely. I was born day of Hillsborough disaster and fan since I could be. Disappointed in Gerrard management run as it stands. Hoped he could be one to take Klopp mantle but Alonso fits the bill. He talks about gergenpressen or however it's spelt. The fact Ancelotti signed a new contract at Real gives us a better shout.

Being from the Basque country, he understands the difficulties the area faced and still does with papers like the Mail & Sun, a war that's been going on since Thatcher. He understands the football ethos and what it means to be a RED. After Kloppo? We don't want to think, but he was and will be at Anfield....
That's a really good point. He arguably gets Scousers more *in certain ways* than Klopp. Not to compare, but it is a concern about the next manager. Alonso ticks all the boxes, except perhaps experience, but how old was Pep when he took over Barcelona, and Arteta at Arsenal. Hell, Kenny...

The revolutioner of Leverkusen
Players who have such game intelligence and dont rely on athleticism usually go on to make good coaches or good managers. Guardiola is the perfect example, not the quickest player but understood the game intrinsically. Alonso again not the most athletic, but world class on the ball and understood the game like very few. I have a sneaky suspicion that when Sergio Busquets decides to hang his boots up, if he ever decides to become a coach he will be elite. I seen a video recently and when Griezmann was asked to name the world best football brain his immediate reaction was "Busquets".
Same as Pochettino at PSG, not fast or super agile but highly intelligent. Could also say the same about Zidane.

Let him stay at Leverkusen I say, of course he could jump right into the thick of it after only a season or two like Guardiola, but I'd rather see him work on the project he already has. Carlo nor Jurgen won't leave till 2026 now, so the jobs he really wants aren't available. I hope Bayern don't snipe him, and an international job won't help him have a good club career.

Whether or not Klopp has retired by then or indeed if the Liverpool board even want Alonso at that point is another matter entirely.
Simple, if Alonso win Bundesliga than he is an Elite manager, because looking at history, the last manager that was able to win Bundesliga without Bayern was Jurgen Klopp and he is proven to be one of the best manager in the world in this era.

It’s funny how Madrid/Liverpool/Bayern fans aren’t surprised on how god Xabi is as a Manager we all seen it ourselves when he was on the field he was a Quarterback in a sense making the plays and long passes. With Klopp and Carlo extending I really see him at Bayern next and then after a 3-4 year stint going to either Madrid or Liverpool tbh.

Its great that the Bundesliga and Serie A seem to be becoming quite competitive leagues now; hopefully they can give the premier league a run for their money. In Serie A the top 7 teams are competitive (Inter, Juventus, AC Milan, Fiorentina, Roma, Napoli, Lazio) and in Bundesliga the top 6 are competitive (Leverkusen, Bayern, Stuttgart, RB Leipzig, Dortmund, Frankfurt). Hopefully La Liga, Ligue 1 and Eredivisie will also become more competitive eventually too

As for your second question, obviously I don't know what Xabi's plans are. If it's true that Ancelotti is leaving at the end of the season then Real will likely go for him.

Alonso is doing great things at leverkusen. But he lacks a lot of qualities that Klopp excels at which made Liverpool what we are today; experience at fighting against the danger of relegation, communication within the media, confrontational against anyone who speaks ill of his players, long period of management experience.
If alonso does come in, the club has to grow with him side by side, in contrast to the approach Klopp has taken where he himself elevated the club with his philosophy.
I'll be upset if it is anyone other than Xabi.
