There's a pimento cheese festival this weekend in Cary, NC. I didn't like the grocery store kind much as a kid, but homemade grilled pimento cheese sandwiches are delicious!
Celery stalks filled with pimento cheese is pretty and deliciously crunchy! We used to love to make pimento cheese sandwiches with a layer of potato chip on top of the cheese as an after school snack. Now I want one!
My Grandmama made those for me growing up as a snack. I never had homemade cheese until I got married, and my mother-in-law made it. I had no idea that you could make your own. Then, I learned to make it when I saw Pauline‘s recipe, and I fell in love with it. I do mine two parts of sharp cheddar, one part some other type of cheese, like Colby or pepper jack, and then two small jars of pimento, mayo, a little bit of whipped cream cheese, and the seasonings she mentioned.
I love seeing you working together as a family. I grew up with a family just like that. We were always working together, having community meals, etc., gathering in one or the other's kitchen laughing and telling stories. Sadly, I am the last living member of that generation but, I have so many wonderful memories to live with.
Awww…I’ve had the thought before that someone has to be last. Both of us came from big families. There are getting to be more of us in Heaven now than there are left here. Sometimes we say a “night prayer” together that ends with “and wake us with the morning light.” Then we say “but if He doesn’t, we’ll get to see ___.” 💜💜💜
Thank you for this recipe! I love pimento cheese but the pimento cheese in my local grocery stores has sugar and/or high fructose corn syrup. Now I can make my own!
One-day I heard a girl pronounce Worcestershire sauce, she said "Roy's sister sheree sauce" I laughed and laughed....but now that's all I can say, and I smile every time I say it.❤
One of my favorite shows was Hogan's Heroes. In one episode, Carter called it "wur-chester-shire". Hogan corrected him by saying "wus'-teh-shur". That's how I learned to pronounce it. If Colonel Hogan said it, I believed it.
Hi there! I'm a Georgia grandma too, except much older. I'll be 75 in 2 months - oh my word. I've always used two kinds of cheese, Cheddar of course and Monterey Jack. I buy the jar of sliced pimento and chop myself. I think they are a brighter red for one, and I drain the pimento so it's not too soggy. My husband doesnt like fillings to ooze out of the bread so I've adapted my way of making it because of him. I bake my own bread, I want it so soft it sticks to the roof of my mouth. He has to adapt to my likes with that.
Tipper, use a block of cream cheese and a medium container of marshmallow cream. Mix it together gether and put a dab of cherry juice, apple or orange juice until it is smooth and creamy. It's amazing to dip your fruit into to eat the fresh fruit. Try it!

Pimento cheese brings back some good memories for me. Bless your sweet family. So happy for Corie and Austin and their new home.
I grew up eating homemade pimento cheese. In Kentucky, I heard the word "pimento" said most often as puhminna. Other people I knew said it pronounced perminner. When I was living in Belgium, I volunteered at a Cafe run by American missionaries. They served a pimento cheese sandwich with fig jam on it.
That looks so good! I Like fresh diced jalapeño sometimes in it. Nothing like a picnic outside, everything tastes better! Corie looks So pretty and they seem very happy. So glad that worked out for them. I Miss seeing Katie, but I know she’s busy.

That will have a layer that keeps anything you have in the sandwich seeping into the bread making it soggy. It really does work!
I got tickled watching y'all eat in high speed because Corie's left leg was just moving all over the place while her other leg was completely still! She reminds me of my husband who can't sit still. He's always wiggling his feet!
Pimento cheese is one of my favorite things! I grew up with it--basic cheese, mayo, pimentos, pepper. But the BEST thing is a grilled pimento cheese sandwich! If you haven't had one, it's a must try! And if anyone wonders why store-bought grated cheese doesn't taste as good, it's because the shreds are coated in corn starch to keep it from sticking together. Home grated is the best. 😋
The ring on the side of that stainless steel bowl is for your FINGER. When you are mixing something or pouring something, so it doesn't slip or drop. We have one of those, a size smaller. I use it for mixing just about anything that will fit in it! It is so handy to have that ring on the side! Pancakes, french toast, pim. cheese, cornbread or muffin mixes, eggs -- just ANYTHING! Love it!
I remember times like this when we were building my daughter and son in Lars tiny home on the property. Such good times together! Making memories to carry us thru. Much to be thankful for.
Awww, thanks for this, it brought to mind some good memories of my grandma making pimento cheese sandwiches and taking them to my grandpa as he worked in the field, with a jar of sweet tea. 😊
“ Top Notch” pimento cheese….I’m going to make it for The Masters weekend golf tournament. We watch the golf tournament at home but supposedly Pimiento cheese sandwiches has been a fan favorite for decades!
I started growing pimiento peppers just to make pimiento cheese sandwiches! And i like to fry some bacon nice and crispy, and make a grilled sandwich with pimiento cheese and crunchy bacon. It's AMAZING!!
Love going back and watching the older videos !! Another super simple recipe is Block of Colby cheese, Miracle Whip, jar of Pimentos, pinch of sugar and pinch of salt. We usually eat ours as a sandwich with chili or scoop with ridge potato chips !
I wish I could have heard the conversation during lunch!! I love true talkin back & forth. Especially such a lovely & loveing family. Can't wait to see the inside of their home all decorated. Youth is so special and so often overlooked...I know Corrie & Austin will treasure every minute. Bless you all! What a wonderful family you have!!❤❤Lisa in San Diego CA.
I love pimento cheese and keep a small container in my fridge. It's store bought though. I've made it only a few times over the years and don't have a tried and true recipe. That was a fantastic lunch you made the guys. Matt's a lucky man.
It’s obvious you’ve been through some difficult times: okay so have I and when I was young id watch my mom make meals. She never left a bowl alone until she made sure it was completely empty. No stone left unturned. So kudos for taking an old man back to the simpler times.
I’m getting married in a few months and moving out for the first time, and I hope I can always be close enough to my momma to still bring food over and forget salad bowls in her kitchen. Family is a blessing.
Love pimento cheese. I really love it on hamburgers. I discovered that after eating one at the comeback shack in Boone NC. It also has a fried green tomato on it. So good. So excited Corie and Austin got the house. It will be so good for you all to be so close by. Continued prayers. Yall have a blessed night.
I use Paula Deen’s recipe that’s titled Bobby’s Pimento cheese. I’ve never put chili powder or Worcestershire in mine but I will try it. I noticed you didn’t drain your pimentos and neither do I. Some recipes say to. I love to grill my pimento cheese sandwich and put a good tomato on it. My mother use to made pimento cheese a lot. It’s just a southern staple. 😊 So happy for Corrie and Austin.
Be sure to save the empty pimento jar for when the boys get older. They make great "bug jars" for kids. Not too big and sturdy. The tops don't need to be screwed on tight to keep them on, great for the little hands.
The first thing I learned to make was pimento cheese. Mom,my sister and I walked around the corner to the local store and bought the makings including the cheese cut from a big wheel by the butcher and took it home and mom showed me what to do and helped me make it. That was our supper when my dad got home from work and I made it! That was way back in the 50s. I've learned a lot of things since then but that one sticks in my mind very clearly. Still my favorite sandwich with a slice of good tomato on it.
What a beautiful sight to see, close family members lifting each other up to help make a wonderful event even more special by making that new house a home and doing it in a loving, stress free, cost effective manner. You all are so blessed. ❤
My grandmother, who lived in Kentucky until she was 17, used to make pimento cheese. I remember her always having some on hand, especially during the summer. Her recipe was about the same except she didnt add the worcestershire.😊
Mmm, I love Pimento Cheese! My Mama used to make it and so did my Mother in Law! Mama used Mayonnaise, Salt, Pepper, Garlic and Onion Powder with a little Worchestershire Sauce!! It was so delicious!! She'd use her Meat Grinder to cut up her Cheese! Daddy and Mama liked it a little chunky! They were small chunks but so good! I liked it anyway she made it because I love Cheese! I like toasting my bread and slap it on! Plum delicious! Thank you Tipper for your Recipe! It made me hungry and now I want some! It is so simple to make! I don't have enough cheese or pimentos to make any! Going to Grocery Store tomorrow, I'll get some! Crab Apples makes the best Jelly! I love it with a hot Buttered BIscuits! Yummy! Give the Family my Love and Prayers! God Bless. 🙏❤🔥🇺🇸
Something that is really good is for you to add chopped green olives to that recipe. I learned to do this from a late friend of mine. Although I used long horn cheese which for some reason is hard to find in my area. I don’t make it any more because it’s addictive for me.
I love pimento cheese sandwiches, I haven't had one in years. I might have to make me one…Unrelated, but it is so sweet hearing that little baby in the background! Sounds of a precious brand new life❤👩🏾🍼
I always stir my peanut butter and jelly together before spreading them on my bread and once I make my sandwich my bread isn’t torn up. I love plain Lays potato chips and a big glass of milk to make the best snack in the world. If I have any of the peanut butter and jelly left I use it like a dip for the salty chips. The combination of sweet and salty are delicious and the large glass of whole milk go great together.
I have recently gotten a recipe for smokey pimento cheese, and I love it. I love all things pimento cheese. But we also love to make bacon and pimento cheese grilled cheese. They are divine.
I add a small carton of whipped creme cheese & about 1 cup of grated pepper jack cheese as well as the grated sharp cheddar & about 1 tablespoon of vinegar and a good shake of garlic & onion powder and about 4 tablespoons of worcheshire and bigger jar of pimentos drained. I add about 2 cups of Dukes mayo. It is good on the little hawaaian rolls, chips and on celery. If too dry I add back some of pimento juice or more mayo.
Hi Tipper, it's been years since I have had a pimento cheese sandwich, which I bought from the store. But I will be making some using your recipe I know the guys will enjoy it. Thanks for sharing this recipe. Give that sweet baby lovings for me please. Hugs to y'all .
Love pimento cheese & loved the lunch. Tipper you are amazing. I think you could go into anyone's kitchen who says they don't have anything to eat and you could make something. Yum! My Mom was like that.😊❤
For years I've been calling it "Woosty" sauce. I tend to like fewer syllables to pronounce. In the years since, I've heard it called, "What's-this-here-sauce," "Watch-your-sister-sauce," and "Wash-your-sister-sauce." They're all so perfectly creative and goofy, but not exactly fewer letters to write on the shopping list. Thank you for sharing your pimento cheese recipe, and I'm so excited that the kids get to move close. It's also really fun to watch the renovations. God bless!
I buy the palmetto cheese spread with jalapeños. It’s a chunky style and really good. Also, I had a lady give me some red bud jelly. I was wondering if you have ever made any or even tried it?
I absolutely love your videos. It’s great to see the older forgotten recipes once again. Haven’t made pimento cheese in decades. I’m retired now so I have more time to cook. I love listening to the stories from the cookbook. Thanks for bringing back some great memories. Blessings to you and yours. Tx
I LOVE YOU'LL!! Ive been telling the Appalachian channel about you'll. I hope one day you meet, and you get a real good business going! Doesnt sale you out. AT ALL! That's how you take care of the newest generation! They think a bologna sandwich is famous 😂 The hard work your mama does to make sure you're okay, is what reminds me of my mamaw most of all! She always lookd after us!
Nothing like a good pimento cheese sandwich. I even put on my burgers now every now and then. Momma made like you did, her family was from the Western side of Ky. but with Irish/Scottish roots. My husband now live in NC also. Love y'all's channel, congratulations on Ira having wee ones is such a blessing.
Yum. My mamaw would make us pimento cheese sandwiches for our lunch when us grandkids would go fishing. Basically to keep us out of the house/her hair for the day. Hope y’all are staying safe. We got hit hard with snow and wind yesterday and today. High winds. Tress are coming down from the ground being so wet. (Beech Mountain) ready for some warm summer weather.
My favorite pimento cheese recipe is brenda gantts. So look it up, much easier then me typing it out. I am crazy over pimento cheese and try it at every restaurant that serves it. Its also good with jalepeno and stirred into scrambled eggs.
Pimento cheese on a burgers wonderful! I use pretty much all those ingredients in different amounts but i add a teaspoon of vinegar, 3 bottles of pimentos, I shred my own sharp chddar cheese and add a cup of shredded gouda cheese, a cup of shredded hoop cheese from Ashe county. NC PLUS one heaping tablespoon of cottage cheese, SEA salt too, loads of pepper, and sometimes fresh cooked and drained bacon bits. My hubby likes with jalepeno bits as well, my recipe can be complex depending on our taste that day .we like it chunky without too much mayo, just enough to hold it together. My daddy made hus fresh with only hand shreeded American cheese, pepper, a teaspoon of apple cider vinegar, one jar of drained pimentoes, one teaspoon of mayo...he claimed his grandma Wilson made it like that. And our mayo was always homemade, not store- bought.
I have a terrible time saying Worcestershire sauce. I’m 57 and still don’t know if I’m saying it right. I say wor-cheshire sauce. It was delicious on the hamburgers I made for supper this evening. I generally do not like pimento cheese from a regular grocery store, but I love it from the Mennonite store nearby and homemade of course. Sadly my family does not like it much so I rarely make it. If I get a hankering I just whip up a bit of cheddar with salt, pepper, garlic powder, cayenne and Dukes mayonnaise. It doesn’t have the pimento but it hits the spot. I’m like you Tipper. I can’t abide soggy bread. I have a tiny jar I salvaged from a Hillshire Farms gift box that I use to carry mustard/mayo/horseradish sauce etc. if my lunch is a sandwich the bread, cheese and meat are each in separate bags to be assembled at lunch time. Korie is looking beautiful. I am so glad she will be so close to y’all when the baby comes. I love watching y’all work together. Y’all are creating works and memories that will last and be remembered and appreciated with generations to come. May God bless and keep you all always.
Sometimes I'll take a flour tortilla spread my p.cheese on it lay shredded lettuce roll it up when I'm out of sliced bread. Have even browned it a little in a pan oh so good.
I use 8 oz. of sharp cheddar, 8 oz. of pepper jack, Hellmann's, one small can of chopped jalapenos, and sometimes I drop a little buffalo sauce in, and it's great.
It's absolutely delicious. And there's really nothing more to say about it than that. My second go to is ham salad sandwiches served with dill pickle spears. Also delicious. 😊
@lestatangel @sharonborton195 I would love a good ham salad recipe! I love it too, but it’s not good (homemade) anymore at our grocery stores and you can really tell the difference.
I enjoyed this so much. I make homemade too. Our local Mennonite store sells a white cheese with green onion. It is so good shredded in 'Minner cheese! I love seeing yall continuing some of the old ways. Mama used to cook dinner for "hands" picking cotton.
Mom said the secret to any ‘salad’ type dish was two parts sugar to one part vinegar. So when I make pimento cheese, I add that along with mayo or Miracle Whip and usually just pepper and maybe some salt depending on the cheese I use. Your recipe sounds great too, I may try some of those spices in my next batch.
My mamaw used to make us homemade pimento cheese sandwhiches and us kids would go to the park behind her house to eat them. They were delicious. Now we like to put pimento cheese on our grilled burgers in place of the sliced cheese. Its also wonderful with some candied bacon
I love the addition of the Worcestershire sauce! Pimento tastes so good on these warmer days. Great idea! Thanks Tipper! Praying for your mama! Please let Katie know we are praying for her and little bit. We miss seeing her! Praying for Corie and Austin! Looking beautiful gal!
I love pimento cheese sandwiches and wrapping them in wax paper takes way back to my childhood and early years of my marriage pre zip lock bags. Actually I use wax paper wrap today. Your lunch looks so yummy and healthy, thanks for sharing.

Sounds great!
Love pimento cheese. Your additions sound very good. Will definately try soon. God bless!
I hope so too! Congratulations!!
@@CelebratingAppalachia Thank you Mrs. Tipper!
I am so happy they got the house too! I was praying hard for them to sell theirs in time so Steve didn’t have to wait too long. Such a great blessing!
Thank you!!
I put mine in large hot peppers that I have split long ways and bake them. And we like it spread on toasted bread yummy.
I think Matt’s use of food “marrying” in the fridge is a perfect description, so I now use it also.
Thank you for the recipe, love pimentos ❤
Nothing better than homemade pimento cheese! Thanks Tipper 👍💐
What a beautiful sight to see, close family members lifting each other up to help make a wonderful event even more special by making that new house a home and doing it in a loving, stress free, cost effective manner. You all are so blessed. ❤
I’ve been craving pimento cheese. It’s so good especially in warmer months. I’m going to make this version. Sounds good!
Good to watch the process of the men making the home ready! Then Corie can just go in and feather the nest❤
I always used to love taking food to Dad's job sites for us to have picnics
My mom would make it with that government cheese back in the late 60s and early 70s. Found some in the store last week. Brought back memories.
My dad loved pineapple 🍍 on his pimento cheese sandwich! Blessings!❤❤❤
Grilled pimento cheese sandwich with tomato soup! Yummy!
Tipper that Pimento cheese looks so good. So glad the kids are moving in their new home close to Mom and Dad, Katie and Little Bit.
Lunch looked delicious!
I'm so happy they got there new home now they can grow a nice large garden too..😊
God bless you all ❤❤❤
I love pimento cheese sandwiches, I haven't had one in years.
The combination of sweet and salty are delicious and the large glass of whole milk go great together.
seeing that lawn chair brings me many memories of my grandparents house and my youth. it looks similar to the ones my family had in the 1970's/80's
YUM - The thought of the cheese spread makes my mouth water. Bet my Grandson would love it too.
Sounds great!
Hi Tipper, it's been years since I have had a pimento cheese sandwich, which I bought from the store. But I will be making some using your recipe I know the guys will enjoy it. Thanks for sharing this recipe. Give that sweet baby lovings for me please. Hugs to y'all .
Always a great video wonderful family ❤thank you 😊 awesome nice to see 👀 love in this crazy world 🌎
Love pimento cheese & loved the lunch. Tipper you are amazing. I think you could go into anyone's kitchen who says they don't have anything to eat and you could make something. Yum! My Mom was like that.😊❤
You are so kind! Thank you 😊
For years I've been calling it "Woosty" sauce. God bless!
We learned it this way... phonetic... kinda...
Wuss- tuh- sure
Thank you 😊
I have to try that. I'm so glad they were able to sell their house and move next door. Family all together is perfect!
Thank you 😊

The the shredder attachment for your kitchen-aid makes an excellent shred size for pim. Cheese.
Good recipe for pimento cheese, I love hearing baby in background, I love it.
A tad of sugar to taste in the palmetto cheese, I like the three cheese blends! I’m 78 and have been eating this all my life ❤❤❤
My mom made it all the time. It’s been forever now. I’m watching this video again. It reminds me of home many many years ago.
My Mom used to make it all the time too.Storebought isn't that good.Alot of oils and additives.
Tx
Glad you like them!
Thank you so much 😊
Nothing like a good pimento cheese sandwich. I even put on my burgers now every now and then. Momma made like you did, her family was from the Western side of Ky. but with Irish/Scottish roots. My husband now live in NC also. Love y'all's channel, congratulations on Ira having wee ones is such a blessing.
Thank you!
Love those memories! Sorry for the bad weather.
Always nice to see picnic fixings enjoyed.
I love pimento cheese sandwiches. Thank you for sharing your recipe and day with us.
Thank you 😊
It’s “Wooster-shur” sauce.
Guess I’m old school making pimento cheese. Velvetta, hellmans mayo, pimentos & pinch of salt! Everyone enjoys it and that’s what’s important🤗
Sometimes I'll take a flour tortilla spread my p.cheese on it lay shredded lettuce roll it up when I'm out of sliced bread. Have even browned it a little in a pan oh so good.
I like to put pimento cheese (1/4 cup) in my homemade biscuits dough. It is delicious,
My favorite thing to do when I make pimento cheese is to add some to my deviled eggs. It's delish! Just mash some into your egg yolk mixture!
Great tip!
I use 8 oz. of sharp cheddar, 8 oz. of pepper jack, Hellmann's, one small can of chopped jalapenos, and sometimes I drop a little buffalo sauce in, and it's great.
Tipper, my sister and I used to make grilled cheese with pimento cheese sandwiches. They are really good!!
It's absolutely delicious. And there's really nothing more to say about it than that.
My second go to is ham salad sandwiches served with dill pickle spears. Also delicious.
😊
I love to make ham spread in a grinder, I make a big mess in the kitchen, as I do with pimento cheese, but it is so worth it!
@lestatangel
@sharonborton195
I would love a good ham salad recipe!
Love those memories!!
YAY! I love pimento cheese! 👏🏻
😊
I love pimento cheese sandwiches and wrapping them in wax paper takes way back to my childhood and early years of my marriage pre zip lock bags. Actually I use wax paper wrap today. Your lunch looks so yummy and healthy, thanks for sharing.
