    I once had a mayo hydra BL6. It was so beautiful. I ended up selling it because I just couldn't get used to the wenge neck. I really hope someday we get a redesign with the hydra so it gets the updated forearm contour like the 19+ Duvell. Amazing guitars overall but for a headless I wish these were also a bit lighter. Excellent review man!

    Nice, I have a Duvell which is a similar non-headless model. Still can't stop playing it years later. I guess the bottom design is so you can sit clasically and not disturb the fine tuners, and the hole just as some nice design.

    This sounds phenomenal Chris!! Awesome review and playing as usual!
    Just out of interest, will you be reviewing your Kiesel Zeus? I've been trying to decide between a GOC and a low spec Zeus, after seeing your previous reviews, it would be awesome to hear your thoughts on the new one! Cheers

      My Zeus Video will release tomorrow. I Love My GOC's too. The Kiesel is a better guitar than the GOC. But for the cost, Its hard not to recommend the GOC... The neck profile on the GOC, is not for everyone. The Kiesel is just crazy comfortable and silky smooth. It might be a tough choice, if there wasn't a 50% difference in cost. I'd go GOC.

      @@ChrisTompkins-Music-And-Gear That's brilliant, thanks so much for your message! I've wanted a Zeus since they were released, but I totally agree, I'm leaning towards the GOCs the specs and value are excellent. I look forward to the Zeus video, Cheers!

    Hi Chris. You and I have almost the exact Hydra. Although mine is in trans graphite finish with Bare Knuckle Painkiller pickups. I'm thinking of switching to Fishman Fluence. How difficult will this be to accomplish in your opinion since the guitar is set up for passives?

    I always like to imagine that it's pronounced "mayonnaise."

    • @ChrisTompkins-Music-And-Gear
      @ChrisTompkins-Music-And-Gear  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I always refer to it as my "Mayo". So, might as well be Mayonnaise. LOL!! :)

    Hii
    I wanna buy headless this one seven string.
    I know they r lil heavy if it comes to headless. But its heavy than normal seven with the headstock or same ? I think its still should be lighter than seven with the headstock right ?

    • @ChrisTompkins-Music-And-Gear
      @ChrisTompkins-Music-And-Gear  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It's a good assumption. It's gotta be lighter than the headstock version.

      @@ChrisTompkins-Music-And-Gear Thanks brother and I am just Mayones Hydra Seven with SD - which is the combo I Love vs Ormsby Custom Goliath... I like the multiscale of Ormsby because that Mayo is not MS its standard scale. But still, It's ok w me I would go maximum to Drop G♯ . So that's ok with the standard scale. And I love these 2 details at Mayo like that wood cutaway for protecting the tuners and u can have it inside ur legs and that steel backplate at the top of the "nonhead" just to protect it. I just dunno I need to decide quickly. I know these Ormsby are metal Machines so as Mayo. That Orsmby looks fantastic got 3 pieces of maple neck but it's colored to blackISH color and it has an Ash body in these many grains there are always yellow and red stripes in contrast to the black body ...... Mayones is a Mahagony body with nice Eye Poplar finish ..... fcknnn both of them are great but ur reviews incline me a little bit towards Mayo

    Great playing and great demo. I'm between one of these or a Strandberg. Currently waiting to move to the UK to have access to buy these guitars. Cheers!

    Hey! Can you play it comfortably in a classical position? How well does it sit in camparison to a strandberg/aristides?

    • @ChrisTompkins-Music-And-Gear
      @ChrisTompkins-Music-And-Gear  ปีที่แล้ว

      Being a large fella, I exclusively play with a strap. I don't rest guitars on my legs, so I really am not able to comment on it's comfort in that regard. Sorry.

      @@ChrisTompkins-Music-And-Gear no problem! Is it comfortable with a strap? I have noticed the strap placement is a bit different for some health reasons so Im curious, as I havr never played with a strap. Ive been really thinking about getting a custom hydra 7 with trem and want to get as much info as possible:D

    • @ChrisTompkins-Music-And-Gear
      @ChrisTompkins-Music-And-Gear  ปีที่แล้ว

      I find it perfectly comfortable. However, it is a fair bit heavier than every other headless I've tried. So, that might be an issue for some.
