In comparison with the old way (my first film SLR had only 1 focus point) this auto tracking seems really good. I'm still used to having composition limited by focus or having to focus-recompose-shoot which is less accurate with shallow depth of field
The only thing about my EM1.2 I don’t like is the poor eye AF. Everything else is fantastic and fortunately I don’t shoot many people so all is good really.

Hey mate, thanks for dropping by. At present, it sounds like you need to learn the relationships of exposure triangle. This is the fundamentals of all photography. Then learn about depth of field. Mode is irrelevant because it only matters when it comes to speed of shooting. I am not trying not to tell yo anything but there's a whole load of things to say and teach than just write things down in a paragraph. Hi, Thanks for the video. I understand AF from EM1 Mark III has a better performance on eye detection from Mark II, right? I have the EM5 Mark II and was looking to upgrade either the EM5 Mark III or EM1 Mark III. EM5 Mark III, in theory, inherits the EM1 Mark II AF system. Does it mean the EM5 Mark III AF sits behind the EM1 Mark III?
Thanks mate for watching. Yes you are right, In terms of AF, the current BEST is EM1X (for sports and A.I. subject tracking) and EM1 Mark III for portrait and faces. These applies to both video and stills.
Very interesting video. I am torn between EM-1 Mark II and EM-5 Mark III. I have used EM-10 Mark II for 3 years and its a great camera and I love it, but it doesn't have a fully articulating screen and the AF, especially the face detect is not good at all. So...What say you? Thank you very much for your time and effort.
Hi Wahab, I use both the 1 Mk 2 and the 5 Mk 3. Functionally they are quite similar and take equally good photos. The differences are that the 1 Mk2 is larger and heavier but has the best grip that I’ve found on any camera. It is also “faster” than the 5 Mk3 and sometimes I find myself taking two or three photos with it at once when I intended to take one. This never happens with the 5 Mk3. The main problem I find with the 1 Mk2 is that the viewfinder is essentially unusable with polarised sunglasses in landscape mode (it’s fine in portrait). This isn’t a problem with the 5 Mk3. Both are a definite step up in functionality (pro-capture; better stabilisations; more direct access to things like ISO, shooting modes, subject tracking and focus on moving objects and both are weather sealed too), and to an extent picture quality, compared with the 10 Mk2 (I have one as well as still love it). It depends which one you like the feel of most.
Thanks for the video.. To my eye some of the images look a bit 'soft' or even blurred?? (eg 12:30, 12:32; 13:36) Is this the effect you are going for or is it my screen resolution? Or is this a deliberate 'effect' to protect your copyright or reduce resolution and file size for easier upload to youtube? reasons. Doesn't seem like a crisp edge on many of these shots? What do others think? (btw I am also an Olympus Fan. I just hope they keep improving image quality and sharpness)
So is the face and eye detect better than the em1x?? I am thinking about buying the em1x but would buy this instead if it has better face detection. Please let me know! Great video!
Nice report and great assistance,. You give a review based on Pro use, and granted its a pro camera. How about the use as a general purpose camera, is it really worth the upgrade.
Hello, I have two questions to 1 Mark III: 1) Does it really have doble exposure integrated? 2) Does it have f u l l automtic modus ? Thank you for answerring.

Wow! Didn't expect to see both Zoha and Saori in the same Red35 video. It's too bad they don't have any sort of trade-in programs here where I'm from, otherwise I'd have pre-ordered the Mk III.
Very nice video. But allow me please an annotation. Not all people are enthusiastic about the Mark III. In the forums many said, that they are very dissapointed that the Mark III has no new sensor, no new EVF and screen. Personally I am very happy about these things: - better face- and eye detection - handheld high res mode - ND filters inside (sadly not for filming) - joystick - auto iso in manuell mode for filming (hope so) I love my Mark II. But these news are good reasons for me to upgrade. But not now. I will wait a few months and hope that the price will fall a bit.
