  • This brief clip from cultural anthropologist Angeles Arien offers an indigenous view on self or system diagnosis. Really ask yourself the questions, followed by the essence question of a Chief: "what is needed for wholeness and balance?"
    Listen deeply to what comes.

I also find the music distracting, but appreciate the clip. Thank you for posting it.

It was recorded a couple of years ago as a part of an educational Chatauqua at Mt Madonna in the Santa Cruz Mountains. I'm glad you enjoyed it.

don't know if there is a recording without the background music, but if you are really having trouble hearing her words through the music you may want to have a hearing check, perhaps some frequency ranges may be gone from your hearing range....her words are very easy to hear to all who I've played this for and we are all in our 50's or 60's

Thank you so much, I'm not sure if I was hearing correctly, there seems to be some music playing in the background that is distracting, and making it difficult for me to hearwhat Angeles is saying..I'm wondering if this clip is available without music? I'd love to show it to our hospice team...thank you for sharing!!

It saddens me to know she moved to The Other-side last year (2014) and I never got to enjoy her presence at a workshop - she was on my bucket list.
These 4 questions ignites my spirit and awakens my soul from its slumber.

Angeles has been one of my good teachers for decades. As a storyteller I still come to tears when I say, "The ancestors on the other side are saying to each other, "Maybe this one will be the one to bring forth the strength, truth, and beauty, of our lineage'."

Four powerful questions ! Thank you so much for sharing! Where/when was this interview?
I love the music in the background...it gives even more energy to her words.
    The Four Questions:
    When did you stop singing?
    When did you stop dancing?
When did you stop being enchanted by by stories...esp your own life story.
When did you stop being comforted by the sweet territory of silence?

What tremendously insightful questions! I love how she words them-- and this is partly the work I do- I help my clients explore these topics and help them find the path back to authentic self.
