    The zoom has given me alot more opportunities for different types of shots. It just amazed me everytime I pull it out for a picture. I'm more than satisfied with regular shooting . Hit the zoom and it's a new game. Its no one trick pony because of the zoom. It adds many many tricks.

      @TimothyChase 2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Telephoto obviously gives you the chance to photograph things as is they are 10x or 30x closer. This can mean a lot of you can't otherwise get the shot due to the inaccessibility, where the subject would otherwise require you to be in the middle of a harbor or hundreds of feet off the ground, e.g., when shooting the silhouette of someone on the observation deck thirty-eight floors above.
      More interestingly, it also permits you to play with relative apparent size. A nearby sailboat, a more distant, massive harbor crane (used for offloading cargo ships) and distant mountain (e.g., Mt Rainier) can all be brought to roughly the same apparent size, and this might even work as a kind of visual metaphor for for how, in a given region (e.g., Seattle in the Pacific Northwest) economic activity makes possible greater leisure.
      It can also permit you to visually layer regions, such as a harbor, coast and successive ranges of mountains where the peaks of the tallest and most distant are covered with snow, then layers of sunlit clouds above. And of course there is always that standard moon shot!

  • @anomuumit

    Having gotten used to having a telephoto camera in a phone puts you in a tough spot when considering upgrading for a better camera phone. None of the midrange models even have a telephoto camera so you are kinda forced to go for the high end stuff. High end phones have high end prices and their value proposition is debatable at best. You really need to be a hobbyist and want to have the lightest camera with the most performance to be able to justify these asking prices. That being said the S22 Ultra looks like a keeper for the foreseeable future with all the versatility in cameras. Pictures in daylight seem really consistent between the different cameras. Low light performance seems a bit lackluster but totally understandable for small sensors and you have to remember that the physics are going to stay the same for smartphone cameras in the coming years. What you have in S22 Ultra is a very capable pocketable camera system that you can rely on almost every scenario and get decent shots. After all, the best camera is the one you have with you.

    100X is handy to read a sign down the street that would be otherwise impossible to see!
    Pixel 6 Pro and iPhone 13 Pro/Pro Max have a more accurate night mode. (less "oil painting" effect)
    iPhone's wider aperture trumps all when taking video in low light!
    The 10X is embarrassing in low light because of the crop. Its aperture is too small for anything dimmer than a room in mid afternoon so there's that. (hence it crops in with the lower power lens) Outdoors in sun it looks phenomenal!

    • @azvisuals
      @azvisuals  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yeah I agree! It sucks how the aperture on the 10x limits low light usage. That's the main differentiating feature!

    The big thing that's REALLY peeved me off is the no expandable storage. I take a ton of pictures for my work and I need a much room as possible. I don't know if a TB would work. And the hefty price tag I saw on that model is like, $1400! Wtf? And no headphones or earbuds included anymore, and no charging box? They're really pushing it with their loyal customers.

    One thing to point out is that when you went over pixel peeping, to get much more insane color and detail even when you zoom in (picture not camera) you are able to get more detail. In camera where it says full or where you change the aspect ratio, theres a 108 megapixle mode, I say use this when you want an insane detailed picture and the rest when you wanna zoom in since you cant zoom in past 10x with 108 megapixles.

  • @insertnamehere8723
    @insertnamehere8723 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I just can't get away with thinking how much better it would be if Samsung stopped the obsession with MP subsequently causing noise in videos and photos, instead opting for actual larger sensors and stuck with a variable aperture like their s9 and s10 counterparts. I mean, it would also be nice to also have a variable zoom from 3x - 10x so there's no horrible transition between focal lengths. Hell, I'd even take smoother camera transitions between lenses and no lagging/ judder, especially in the 8k setting, considering all the noise (pun intended) they made about how people apparently need 8k instead of fixing the issues present since the s20u.

  • @JoeHannouch
    @JoeHannouch ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I too am very disappoited with the exagerated sharpness/noise reduction wash out results i'm getting with my S22 Ultra. Wish they could just allow us to select the level of sharpness (like a gopro for example).

    Subscribed! What an honest review. Actually the only reviewer that mentioned and knew that "Expert Raw" = deep processed raw, hence the delayed shutter.

    Love the review. But you gotta be kidding me - expert raw is taking 16-bit computational overplayed HDR shot. It is supposed to take a second. It will definitely get better and chip gets better. But kudos to Samsung to give this much feature and flexibility in a phone. I use the expert raw app more than the regular camera

    • @azvisuals
      @azvisuals  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      You have a good point, I can see the benefits of stacked HDR raw since it speeds up workflow and eliminates the manual stacking needed, but the over sharpening and saturation boost is not necessary

    • @azvisuals

      If raw is important, shooting with the regular pro mode is much quicker since the phone doesn't need to process the computational RAWs.

  • @s.s.productions
    @s.s.productions ปีที่แล้ว

    Thanks for the review! It's definitely valuable. One thing I find very unfortunate is that no reviewer of these phones ever discusses the reliability and speed of the autofocus. I use an S20 fe and the 3x zoom camera has a super slow autofocus and often times refuses to focus on a contrasty area I have selected. It's nothing like the main camera and it's very dissatisfying.
    No one also talks about the minimum shutter speed the cameras select. My 3x camera picks a 1/50" shutter speed which makes it impossible to shoot almost any movement without motion blur from the subject.
    Why don't you mention these things?

    This was informative and helpful. I think I'll wait until next year for new Samsung Flagship, hoping for better speakers. This camera looks awesome, but now quite awesome enough to inspire me to overlook the other shortcomings. Great phone, but at $1,300 plus, not great enough to upgrade over my still very good Note 9.

    • @iu2
      @iu2 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      But it's much cheaper right now because of lower starting price and bonus trade-in values. Note9 will get you $200-$425, depending on the retailer. You're looking at $800 or less. Some places will sell you the 256GB version for the same price as 128GB.

    Hello, I need a clarification from you if you are still in possession of the S22 ultra. Can you test the TH-cam live feature with the S22 ultra and tell me if the ultra wide angle is usable? By streaming an unlisted live stream and swapping the front camera with the back cameras, you should be able to check that. I am writing to you because the ultra wide angle is very important to me during my live broadcasts. I had a very bad surprise when I bought the S22+ which does not allow you to use the ultra wide angle during a live on TH-cam, whereas my S10, S21 and S21 ultra have always allowed it perfectly... I quickly returned my S22+ after noticing this prohibitive detail. I would like to be sure that the S22 ultra can use the ultra wide angle during a live on TH-cam (maybe it is better optimized than other S22). Thank you in advance if you take the time to check this detail. Adrien from France

    Lol you could've used burst or motion photos or even 8k and removed the still you wanted in the highest quality possible, there are no limitations here, looks like lack of awareness for most reviewers regarding samsung phones but we all learn as we go, and if you would've implemented those practices it would've been neat to see those results, nevertheless the content is appreciated, someone will learn from this due to curiosity anyway, that's what's great about humanity.

    I think the extreme shutter lag in expert RAW is because Samsung is using *SO INSANELY MUCH* processing that it just can't do it faster. I mean, just look at the pictures

    • @azvisuals
      @azvisuals  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I tried using pro mode to increase shutter speed but it seems like no matter what, there's still that but of lag. But in auto mode it actually was able to capture a lot of moments that I thought it missed, like the person opening the door and going into the bar. So maybe the shutter lag is just visual?

    My experience is that the camera is crap. I photograph my art for reproduction and it is impossible to get a shot with accurate colors that doesn’t have blur on the edges. I am sending the phone back. It’s inexcusable and all these reviewers not talking about it are getting payed as far as I can guess

    Why do you have to download additional apps to make your photos look good the camera is faulty it’s not good

    • @azvisuals
      @azvisuals  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Most of the photos were taken with the default camera app, and only some raws we're taken with the expert raw app, also made by Samsung. So it's not like random apps!

    Some of the pics from this so called Ultra device are shocking…for nearly £1200/$1200 I’m sorry but they ain’t a patch on what the 13 Pro produces. I’m no fanboy… just saying what the eyes see… 13 Pro and 13 Pro Max smash the Ultra…. Some of the pics are laughable. Great vid though dude as per usual. 👍🏾

      If you're basing this opinion on one video you might want to take a look at the ton on videos comparing these 2 phones. Most of day time shots taken on an iPhone have a yellow cast over them. Not warm as many say...it's yellow. He took a lot of raw photos and didn't show to much of the edited shots or rather a variety of them. The max is a good camera phone but this is much more versatile with a ton of more options. Look at some more videos and you will see what I'm taking about. Even the Chinese phones give the max a run for their money. Let's see what the 14 pro max has to offer then we can talk about comparing the 2. Otherwise this phone has the upper hand on the max except for fast moving subjects in auto mode.

    RAW mode captures a LOT more information than other modes. If you need to take several photos, use burst mode. If you are a pro-photographer, you should learn about your equipment before you make a video.
