  • Car: 2011 Ford Focus 1.6 Ecoboost 150hp.
    Tires: Continental ContiSportContact 5.
    I overtook 14 cars and 5 motorcycles on this lap, so I think that a laptime of 9:15 - 9:10 should be possible.

    I'm italian. I have a Focus mk3 1.6 turbo 150 CV. I bought 2 years ago. I love Nurburgring, my favourite track on the sim
    You're rally a good driver, reach the limit on a Dangerous track. Chapeau

    I've just had the same car. 1.6t zetec s 180bhp. Had it remapped and dyno tuned. It's now running at 215bhp and 260nmt , I'm really impressed

    Great lap! I'd like to try that in my new 180 bhp Focus Zetec S.
    Good driving on such a busy track.

      Trevor Kenwrick Thanks a lot. I hope to go there again in September, but this time I think I am going to rent a car. The laps are starting to take its toll on the tires. :-)

      Anthony Finn Thanks. The track was great(much more grippy than earlier the same week) so i could push much harder in the corners. If only there had been less traffic it would have been perfect. :-)

      +JLM-MEDIA the best I could manage was 10.33 on my third lap :-) it's great fun

      @JlmmediaDk1  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      Anthony Finn I am glad you had fun. It takes time to learn the track, and a 10:33 isn't bad at all. You will get faster and faster the more you drive it. :-)

    That was an absolutely epic lap! Congratulations! I have the 125hp 1.6 Ti-VCT, even though it has less power it's still really, really great fun to drive. Just have a quick question, how was the ESC intervention during the lap? Did you feel it kicking in a lot, and making the car brake through corners? Thanks!

    great driving !!! i'm thinking to buy this car with this engine. can you tell me the everage fuel consumption ? and did you ever thought about increasing the power to 180 hp ? thx

    • @JlmmediaDk1
      @JlmmediaDk1  8 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Thank you :-) The average consumption is around 13km/L but it depends a lot on your driving. If you drive at top speed it does 5km/L but if you drive slowly you can get over 20km/L. I have thought about increasing the power but I have not done it. :-)

    • @andreiarama8745
      @andreiarama8745 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +JLM-MEDIA thx about the answer! I've checked on the forums and the average fuel consumption was 12km/l. do you think that the 180hp engine will drop the average fuel consumption under 11km/l ? let's say for you and your driving style. thank you!

    • @JlmmediaDk1
      @JlmmediaDk1  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      It might. I can't say for sure. if you are just cruising and not using all of the power I don't think you will see any change, but if you use the power often, then it will probably use more.

    Wish we got this engine in the States. All we get is the 2.0 N/A and this model year they finally started offering the 1.0 EcoBoost.

    • @JlmmediaDk1
      @JlmmediaDk1  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +OneTallOrder It is a very good engine, but it has already been replaced this year with a 1.5 Liter engine. Here in Europe it is marketed as a 2.0 replacement, and it is a LOT better than a 2.0 N/A, especially because of the torque.

    • @THR33SIXX3MPYR
      @THR33SIXX3MPYR 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +JLM-MEDIA Good to know. I have the 2.0 N/A, any ideas on what kind of power numbers the 1.5 is making?

    • @JlmmediaDk1
      @JlmmediaDk1  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      OneTallOrder The power figures are exactly the same as the 1.6 it is replacing. it comes in 2 variants 150hp and 182hp, both with 240nm(177lb/ft) of torque.

    • @THR33SIXX3MPYR
      @THR33SIXX3MPYR 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +JLM-MEDIA That's pretty good. I don't know what the 2.0 makes in Euro spec trim, but I've heard 160-170 hp and 140 ft/lbs.

    • @JlmmediaDk1
      @JlmmediaDk1  8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      OneTallOrder Well that's a good question because you can't get a Focus mk3 with a 2.0 N/A engine because the 1.6 Turbo has replaced it. The only two 2.0's here in Europe are a 2.0 Turbo Diesel(163hp), and the 2.0 Turbo Petrol(250hp) from the ST model.

    I have the 150hp engine on my focus. I was searching for full specs of the engine in the internet and I've found different numbers for the torque figure. The 150hp engine has 240nm and the 182hp one 240nm or 270-280nm with the overboost. my question is : the 150hp engine has overboost as well ? maybe you could help me with a link with the full specs of the engine. my research proved to be pointless. THANK YOU!

    • @JlmmediaDk1
      @JlmmediaDk1  7 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Yes. As far as I know the 150hp has the overboost function as well. All the information that I have found, tells me that the torque figures are the same for both the 150hp and the 182hp engine. See the wiki for example :-)

    • @andreiarama8745
      @andreiarama8745 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thank you! No point upgrade if the torque stays the same

    • @RallyVozac
      @RallyVozac 7 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      The 150hp starts droping NM after 4000rpm and 182hp one starts droping the NM after 5000rpm. So basically the difference in performance is felt above 4000rpm, in everyday use you can't really notice difference.

    Recently purchased the 2016 (2014-) ECO-Beast ;) and wanted to see how it would react on Nurburgring... I saw it... !
    Your Driving is "Next to perfect" ;) I can see you Know the "Ring" by heart... And find the "APEX" with both your eyes closed :) God Forbid:))
    I did see the ESP off ...
    I'm sure most of us would like to know what tires you were on. "Cont Sport 3" or "Mich Primacy HP" .. 215/50R17 or 235/45R18?! ... Was it High Octane or standard?
    Thank you!

    • @JlmmediaDk1
      @JlmmediaDk1  8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +Liviu Sindila Thank you very much. I love going to the ring every year it is a fantastic place to be if cars are your passion. I am using Continental ContiSportContact 5, and the size is: 215/50-17. I am using Shells V-Power 100 octane fuel. I do not know if the engine perfoms better with it, but it can't hurt :-) In my car I can't switch the ESP off. I can only turn the traction control off, unless i pull the fuse, but that would mean that I do not have ABS brakes, so I do not want to do that :-)

    • @sind5505
      @sind5505 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +JLM-MEDIA the 100 octane is sure to improve performance especially in turbocharged direct injection engines like the ecoboost! I saw "Dyno" measurements in a fifth gear tv show.It hardly improves performance in the case of normal aspirated engines with low compression ratio, say 9.5:1, but you get higher performance with high compression ratio say 12:1, and/or turbine engines!
      Cheers! Waiting on your next year video from the ring :)

      Liviu Sindila I've recently bought the Ford focus 2015 1.0 ecoboost havnt seen alot of positve comments about it really Im still looking forward to picking it up Monday

    • @sind5505
      @sind5505 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      donald blake I'm sorry about the late answer, I'm sure you already love it, if it's the 100bhp 5speed or the 125bhp 6speed, it depends on how you drive it, if you wish for high mileage, then you need to practice the "light foot technique" ;). If your foot is heavy, then the mileage will drop, but your adrenaline input will increase :).
      You'll be a little disappointed about the engine noise with the hood up, but once inside the sound will be perfect ( no noise at low revs, nice sound at high revs)
      I personally always use high octane gasoline and in my 15000miles so far haven't experienced any problems whatsoever.
      Attention please!! After long drives or high rev exploitation of the engine you MUST wait for 2-3 minutes before stopping the engine! The low inertia turbine needs to cool down! Otherwise you'll experience turbine failure! Not cheap :)
      May you have a nice and long experience with the EcoBoost ;)
      P.S. Only use 15W20 CastrolFord Branded ( for EcoBoost engines) oil!!!

    • @energymc22
      @energymc22 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Liviu, I think you mean that the oil is 5w20 not 15w20? Also, although it's always good to let the turbo cool after high load, the turbo in the Ecoboost 1.6 (and possibly 1.0) is water cooled and the ECU is programmed to run the fan after switching off the engine if required, so it's not as critical as it used to be :)

    how did the brakes hold up? plenty of travel by the end of the lap?

    • @JlmmediaDk1
      @JlmmediaDk1  6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Boom Shanka Nixon i did not notice a difference. But it is necessary to drive around a bit after the lap to let the brakes cool down. I have warped a set of front discs because I parked the car right after the lap. :-)

    you can chip your 150hp version with the 182hp version of the same engine! You can do it yourself if you have the software.
    i have a 150hp, tuned with Ford software of 182hp, got 98 RON in mine and i have 200hp and 290nm :)

    • @JlmmediaDk1
      @JlmmediaDk1  7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      It clocks out at 180. :-) From Bergwerk to the Karrusel you are driving uphill with inclines of up to 17%, so it just won't go any faster. There is an altitude change of almost 300m at that section.

    • @Ruudiii
      @Ruudiii 7 ปีที่แล้ว
