You have no idea how close you were to an actual American party drink with that "Apple of My Cherry Eye" thing. But you would have to back in American history to about 1810 to 1850 and to the Chesapeake Bay area. It was called "Cherry Bounce". It was, basically homemade cherry brandy and Maryland rye whiskey served in a punch bowl and dispensed with a ladel.

Around here it would be Rainier Beer, Pabst Blue Ribbon, Hamm's, or Lucky Lager. Or any of the other "Love in a Canoe" beers like Coors or Budweiser. (i.e. "fucking near water") Back when I was in high school and college we had generic "Beer" brand beer in the white can and black letters. Dunno who made it, but it seems to have disappeared long ago.

Simple solution for the 4th of July shot: add 50/50 vodka and blue curaçao.
The problem is your peach schnapps and blue curaçao have the same or very similar specific gravities... To make a liquid heavier, add sugar. To make a liquid lighter, add vodka. You don't have to do both and since the schnapps is sweet enough, do the curaçao.

Just for anyone who was curious, here's the full text of the United States of America national anthem (side note: the *vast* majority of Americans only know (or even know about) the first verse) The back story of it is that it's a poem about the British Navy laying siege to a shore fortification -- basically, it's saying "Did the soldiers in the fort make it through the night, or are the British about to land and wreck our shite?". It wasn't originally intended to be set to music, which is one of the reasons it's notoriously hard to sing).
    Tl;dr of the verses:
    1. "Did the fort stand or is the British Navy about to wreck our town?"
    2. "The fort's still standing! Eat bollocks, King George!"
    3. "Where's all your big talk now, you press-ganged nancy-boys?"
    4. "We won because God likes us better than you!" (a.k.a. the worst verse in the song)
    The Star-Spangled Banner
O say can you see, by the dawn’s early light,
What so proudly we hail’d at the twilight’s last gleaming,
Whose broad stripes and bright stars through the perilous fight
O’er the ramparts we watch’d were so gallantly streaming?
And the rocket’s red glare, the bombs bursting in air,
Gave proof through the night that our flag was still there,
O say does that star-spangled banner yet wave
O’er the land of the free and the home of the brave?
(This ends the part that is actually played/sung at pretty much any event ever -- but the rest technically exists)
On the shore dimly seen through the mists of the deep
Where the foe’s haughty host in dread silence reposes,
What is that which the breeze, o’er the towering steep,
As it fitfully blows, half conceals, half discloses?
Now it catches the gleam of the morning’s first beam,
In full glory reflected now shines in the stream,
’Tis the star-spangled banner - O long may it wave
O’er the land of the free and the home of the brave!
And where is that band who so vauntingly swore,
That the havoc of war and the battle’s confusion
A home and a Country should leave us no more?
Their blood has wash’d out their foul footstep’s pollution.
No refuge could save the hireling and slave
From the terror of flight or the gloom of the grave,
And the star-spangled banner in triumph doth wave
O’er the land of the free and the home of the brave.
O thus be it ever when freemen shall stand
Between their lov’d home and the war’s desolation!
Blest with vict’ry and peace may the heav’n rescued land
Praise the power that hath made and preserv’d us a nation!
Then conquer we must, when our cause it is just,
And this be our motto - “In God is our trust,”
And the star-spangled banner in triumph shall wave
O’er the land of the free and the home of the brave.

As an Irish-American this is hilarious, because the St Patrick's video is them making fun of the stupid St Patty's Day cocktails that Americans have come up with, while also somehow believing that Americans actually drink these shots on the 4th of July. The lesson here "theme shots are BS, and for both holidays most people just drink beer or whiskey regardless of nationality".

In northern USA we have another 4th of July shot... Smirnoff red white and berry in a tall shot glass half and half with sprite. You slam it on the table (covered with one hand so it doesn't spill everywhere, but your hand gets sticky so have a washcloth nearby) and then shoot it down it one big gulp, it tastes like a bomb pop popsicle.. hense why we call it a bomb shot! To be truthful it's good with any kind of vodka or rum. Amd when you mix it with sprite the effervescence increases the effectiveness of the liquor and you can get a buzz with a lot less.

Where was the moonshine? A 4th of July celebration just isn't the same without the shine, at least not our here in the country. 😄 When my Irish ancestors came to the US during prohibition jobs were tough to get, so they got into bootlegging and enabled their kids to get an education and good jobs. See... the American Dream and moonshine go hand in hand. 👍😂
