is it possible to render mask reflections too? like in FStorm without telling the surrounding materials that it would reflect an object thats affected by them?
Hey! Whats up! I was using a older corona renderer and it worked just fine. Now I've installed the newer one...and now my masks have depth and shadow. Would you know what happened?
Hi Marcio, in the corona material advance options there is an option called propagate masks, depending on the option selected the masks can be affected by reflection and/or refraction. let me know if this was helpful 😊
Thanks for the video man. I have a question about the render elements. How much does it increse the RAM usage using this passes. I have a computer with only 12GB of RAM and i would like to use the passes more carefully. I heard that each pass adds an average of 1GB, but i could not confirm that. Thanks!
Hi Biogame100, the RAM usage depends on the render size and the complexity of the scene and it could be up to 64 bytes per pixel, if you are having RAM problems you can try rendering your beauty pass first and then another render for the masks using the "render only mask" option. Corona render is a really RAM-hungry application it is recommended to have a minimum of 32 GB of RAM.
@@ArchVizExplained Ok, thanks. I will use your advice, first the beauty pass and if I need it I will render the masks and pases separately until I can get a better PC. Thank you 🙂
Damn Corona really needs Cryptomatte but knowing it's price and included masking elements I doubt they will add it anytime soon as Cryptomatte costs money for the developers afaik, the CMasking ID or RGB is quite garbage. Color Range or Magic Wand tool doesn't even work in 32bit mode. I quite regret starting using Corona, V-Ray was so much better in every aspect ( maybe except that it has more "Biased" look and Corona is closer to Arnold/FStorm ). Cryptomatte would be great because when u import the .exr into PS ( using Exr-IO plugin ) it already automatically separates all the colors into layers so u just ctrl click whatever u need, works with motion blur, dof etc perfectly, Corona RGB or ID is so oldschool method and feels super slow and limited.
Very useful and straight forward.
Thanks
Thank you for watching!
