I have begged for a full work for a decade after my sister was diagnosed. Doctor would only order basic and when my results were good or just a little off. Finally got a Doctor to do full panel and got the diagnosis of hashimotos. It shouldn’t be this hard to get such a simple test
Hello, What is a complete Thyroid lab panel? What is the medical verbiage and tests with in this panel? I appreciate your input on this subject. I have to be very specific about my requests with my physician. If I have difinative names for these thyroid test panels you advise , it will be better recieved. Thank you for an informative video.
Kathryn, Hi there….. I am a thyroid patient and my understanding is that a complete would include at least TSH, T3 (free and total), T4 (free and total), reverse T3, and anti-thyroglobulin and thyroid peroxidase antibodies. Hopefully this is of help….
Who cares because drs are stupid, most ppl on thyroid be don't need it..I feel like ike thyroid is as n epidemic medication is in stupid. Go the natural way
Can too much RAI cause Hashimotos? I was diagnosed with Graves Disease 30 yrs ago. Gove birth and then a month later too much RAI. Been treated as hypothyroidism ever since. Every Endo has refused complete thyroid panels as well as other tests I've requested. My only insurance now is Medicare and I've about given up.
I had thyroid surgery and surgeon said they saw signs of hashimotos. I also have alopecia and fibromyalgia. Now what type of doctor do I see to follow up on the hashimotos part? To get further testing? Are you still doing telehealth and taking new patients?
Was told by internal medicine doctor that if there were any remaining cancer cells in body not removed by surgery or killed of by radioactive iodine, taking iodine supplements could potentially grow cancer cells. Per Dr Brownstein, could iodine/iodide shrink thyroid tumors? Can one still be diagnosed with hashimoto after radioactive iodine treatment even with supposedly little to no thyroid function left after treatment?
Hi - I have been on levothyroxine 100mg for 23 years. Recently I have had difficulty swallowing and my thyroid is sore to touch. I also have severe psoriasis, constipation etc. Is it time to see a doctor? Here in Scotland it is not easy on NHS? As I am 71, maybe I’m not a priority case. Thank you.
I am allergic to Vitamin D (all levels, all types, and sadly, yes the sun too). As a Hypothyroid patient (prior to my TT and now due to surgery). How do I "fix" that side of me? I take Calcitriol. But it's in response to symptoms. Do you have any experience with this? I was diagnosed over the course of a year with this, but officially in 2013. It was reconfirmed in 2017 in a double blind trial that my endocrinologist did when I was hospitalized. I feel like I am missing something that could be helping.
hey Doctor i know youll pry never see this but i NEED HELP BADLY. I have hypothyroidism my T4 is whats really the problem. But it went undiagnosed for years and no they have me on Levothyroxine. But my body can barley handle even a small dose for a child. I'm 35 my hair is just falling out like crazy. I don't understand how its gotten so bad. But please help my life is dwindwing away and I somehow need to treat this condition. Thank you so much
It's not that it's harder to treat but more that hypothyroidism is 10x more common and almost every case of hyperthyroidism leads to hypothyroidism with permanent treatments like RAI and thyroidectomy. I still discuss hyperthyroidism but not as frequently as hypothyroidism for those reasons.

Sadly, here in the UK ... The Doctors are totally ignorant of this stuff! ... They will never do these tests on the NHS !
Unfortunately, even if they did do the test, they have not been trained to read those tests.
@@jrowlove7328 Very true and sadly correct!
In the US primary doctor are to lazy to check it

@@Jo-ann257 Thank you!
I only found out that I had Hashimoto’s as I got private bloods during the pandemic, my treatment hasn’t changed (100mg levothyroxine in the UK)

Dr. child’s, what difference does it make?
Is it a good idea to supplement iodine/iodide after thyroid cancer surgery and/or radioactive iodine treatment?
There's no harm, you just don't need as much once your thyroid has been removed.
Was told by internal medicine doctor that if there were any remaining cancer cells in body not removed by surgery or killed of by radioactive iodine, taking iodine supplements could potentially grow cancer cells.

Yes, you may have subacute thyroiditis.
Can your thyroid just dissolve on its own , I feel like it is
It can with some force acting on it such as the immune system.

Why is it MOST 'dr's' do NOT discuss HYPER thyroidism?? I know it's a tougher 'fix' but it is a growing diagnosis in the USA.
