I'd love to see a women's work boot comparison, even vs the men's styles? I regularly at my jobs have had to wear steel toed boots and I have not only difficulty finding a pair of women's that would fit my feet without breaking down after 3 months, but also having pretty small feet, not being able to go to a men's size instead and get more variety (at least where I live, not a whole lot of affordable women's work boots and I can't buy online with how weird my feet are). Great video as always!
Yes this! I am a woman in construction and have destroyed my boots. Im a size 8.5 and use Caterpillar Womens Steel Toe boots by Catfootwear, after initial wear down they have been my go to boots. Already on the 2nd pair, 1st one was begging to be replaced by month 6.
Retweet (pounds the table). I just got some work boots from Duluth trading co and I really had an eye out for quality based on this channel. But I'd love a vid on work boots for women's boots. Or anything specifically for women. I will give you $100 or buy you the shoe of your choice. Love this channel love the content.
Are you able to get Red Wing shoes? Women or even kids models. They make them, steel toe and all - pink cowboy boots with steel toe for kids. Odd choice lol.
Do a Converse specific comparision pls! Converse has 3 different platform: Lift, Move and Run Star Hike. Would be awesome to see which one has the best build!
I came here to leave this comment & noticed you had already requested it! I’ve specifically looked for reviews on the Converse Lift Platform Leather (low tops) & unfortunately, all I see are unboxings - not what I’m interested in.
This video convinced me to buy the converse. Had them on my wishlist for a while but was concerned about the soles. Happy to know that the price point is fair considering they do have the better soles compaired to the other platform options.
I used to work for Vans and these videos really helped me understand the construction differences between Skate/Pro vs classics. If you haven’t seen those I recommend checking them out! You might also get some extra knowledge to bring to heart share meetings too 😉
I’m a huge fan of the Converse platforms. I probably own about 15 pair. I’m a teacher and in 15 years, I’ve not experienced a more perfect shoe! Glad to see they’re worth the hype!
I have the Converse platforms and they’re amazing that are the most comfortable platforms I’ve ever had in a shoe and I have the exact one you cut so definitely get them you won’t be disappointed thanks for making this video I watch your videos all the time Godspeed brother Chris.
Thank you for cutting women’s shoes! Although these aren’t my style I really enjoyed seeing how they’re made. I’ll stick to regular converse :). I’d love to see some high end women shoes cut up, like Valentino, YSL, CL…. But I get that they’re expensive so not very economical to do those, maybe one day 😉
That would be so awesome! I've always wanted to invest in a pair of quality heels, but when you actually see these high end brands in person, many of them seem to have the exact same construction and sometimes flaws as lower priced heels. How the f do we know what is actually good quality?
I can't remember where i saw it but all those fancy heels are treated as an accessoiry instead of a functional shoe. They aren't made to last at all and only easthetic value is taken in consideration when making them. For example a heel that curves under your heel of your foot is much at supporting your foot but they don't make it like that bc it doesn't look fancy.
He's 100% right about the overcompression. I bought a pair of platform Superga once because liked the look, but I felt weird sensations in my hip joints when I was walking with them so I resold them. Found out years later from my chiropractor that my hips are slightly misaligned.
Thanks for doing women's shoes! This is really interesting. I'd love to see you cut open a pair of Fila disruptors if you do any more Women's platform sneakers
Comparing the different styles of platform converse next would be awesome, I'd love to know the difference between these ones, the lugged style, and the 2x platform ones. May even be other converse platforms I dont know about lol
The Vans platform are very uncomfortable ! Especially after about 4 hours I just want to take them off and change shoes. I’d never wear them for a long walk. I might switch to the Converse now. Thanks 🙏.
@Alicesings to be honest vans were never my favorite chew. Now I like them because they came in some really awesome colors. But just like you 4 hours is about enough for that shoe on my foot. Never once did I say ooh I want to wear my Vans today cuz they're so comfy. Their shoe is so narrow. And I always have to get a size up which is a little bit too big then. I could never find my comfortable spot in those shoes. They were enough to wear on my feet to go out to a restaurant and go right back home. End of story.
@@sinistersalem1983 I mean from my experience I absolutely love my platform vans but everyone has different views and feelings so ig it just depends on the person.
@@sinistersalem1983 I think you should keep them for a little bit of ✨spice✨ in your wardrobe. Stacked Vans are my favorite style of shoe ever and I have several pairs. I love them and wear them to festivals, work, or all day events. My only complaint is that sometimes the weight of them can be too much if I’m jumping/dancing around but I also work out my legs a lot so I imagine others can be more susceptible to leg/foot pain. And although Stacked is my favorite, I also own some of the Converse Run Star Hikes and those are objectively way more comfortable and easier to wear all day than the Vans.
My partner wears Converse All Star Move platforms... I noticed that it's all foam, there's even seems support with sidewalls coming up just a little past the bottom of the foot. Anyway, she finds then being really comfortable and easy to wear because of the foam being so light. I thought it was interesting that they still have a rubber toe cap even though they're foam with a rubber outsole.
I was looking online for a new platform sneaker and got myself checking Sentry Old Skool WC from Vans, then I thought "I should look into Rose Anvil's channel to see if he has a review on platform sneakers. And you just launched this video yesterday. I'm speechless, we're totally in synch. Love your work!
I've actually been saving up for the Converse Run Star Hikes, I've wanted them since 2019 and am finally getting around to save up for them. Knowing that the converse are actually the best option makes me happy bc I didn't want to change my options if one of the other shoes was actually better. I have the exact vans you cut in this video, and they're actually super comfortable for me. I wear them a lot and like them more than most of my other platforms. Now I'm considering getting the converse to really compare. My experience with converse in the past has always been bad, so I've been pretty hesitant.

Converse is starting to market these as unisex and I’m noticing more gender non-conforming and men are wearing sneaker and boot platforms in NYC, including docs platforms. I purchased my husband a pair of Converse Lugged Platforms and his leg pain has disappeared.
I LOVE LOVE LOVE your videos! It would be so cool if you did some cut and compares focusing on brands that cater to or have options for people with Wide sizes. So many great products that come out on top or are considered are not even an option for some of us. Would love to see what we actually have as choices and how they stack up! Thanks again and thanks for what you do!
Been wanting a pair of Run Star Hikes for a while but was on the fence. Now that they've been out to the test, I can comfortably buy them without worrying too much.
I like these style of videos. It gives a real functional perspective to consider - beyond just the aesthetic of the shoe. I’d love to see something that compares “non-slip” outsoles. There’s tons of brands out there that claim they are great workplace shoes…but how good are they? Thanks for the great work!
I wore cheap $30 non slip work shoes before and the non slip really is non slip. Greasy, wet, and mopped floors had no effect and I didn't have to worry about falling on my ass unless I stepped on something that slid on the ground.
I absolutely LOVE the Converse Run Star Hikes. I have two pairs, in leather, and I can attest that they are the most comfortable sneaker I've ever worn! I also love how stylish they are and the additional 1" I get from them. Glad to know I made the right choice :)

Would love to see one between all the Converse platforms, like the converse move platform, converse run star hike, converse run stat motion and the original converse platform!!
Thank you Rose Anvil I always wondered what my wife really wanted when she said I'd like a inch or two more freaking platforms!!! Here I was all paranode that she was referring to something else....
Glad the converse won, I liked them the best out of the group. Now if I buy them I’ll feel good about spending my money on them. Thanks for doing this video!
I got the full black leather version of the converse you show back in November when Converse Austria had them on sale for €50. They are heavy but I find them to be very comfortable and being short its nice to actually add a bit to my hight! Overall, for what I paid I feel I good value and the all black version looks slightly less like Frankesteins boots! One thing though which is the opposite of what I thought the ridge soles woud be is that I find them very slippery on wet sidewalks!

I have the Lugged Leather Chuck Taylor All Star platform shoes and they are incredibly comfortable. I work at a lululemon, and I genuinely have issues standing for long periods of time. Like I have to wear compression socks even when a shifts 4hr. So for so long I could only wear my Nike pegasus running shoes… however I’ve found those are the only other shoes I can wear that won’t kill my feet and back
I really appreciate putting all these 4 shoes together for one video, even though you could've made a short series of four. The comparisons really makes the difference between the shoes super visible
I have these Converse, and they are one of the most comfortable shoes I've owned and seem to give me a pep in my step. They're not too heavy and they have enough support while feeling "bouncy" almost. My Vans actually make my knee and back pain so much worse. I do well in Docs too with a foot insole insert, but man are they heavy.
I have the Run Star Hike and they're very comfortable, even moreso than the Chuck 70s IMO. One word of warning though... the canvas-ish upper is SO stiff that you'll want to wear a sock tall enough to protect your ankle from the top of the shoe while you're breaking them in. I didn't and I had some nice gashes along the back of my lower calf. In terms of fit, I had to go up a half-size from my normal All Star/70s size. So they fit more true to size than the standard Converse that run large.
I own 3 pairs of the converse ones, I love them, they’re great comfy shoes.. I considered the others too and I’m so glad now after seeing this I went with converse. 👍🏻😁
I own the run star hikes! Been wearing them for a couple of weeks and they're super comfy. The roll through when you walk is so satisfying, my feet don't feel stiff or clunky. Definitely look into it if you work retail- I have yet to feel my feet go sore.
I own a pair of converse surface platform 2x (that you can find on tillys) and I am really curious to see what's inside of it! Can you please do a video of you cutting them open
You should cut open some of collegium’s shoes. I’m interested to see how their quality compares to everything else. They claim to be pretty high quality for a somewhat affordable price
Have been very disappointed with the Vans platform from first iteration. Just picked up a pair resembling ones in the video, wore them for a day and found buckling in the platform. Will be returning. Converse is definitely doing it right, their platform I find to be more comfortable than the original. Great video!
thanks, this was super helpful. i had my money on the vans. i'm not a platform wearer, but if i see a pair of those converse for a good price, i'll probably buy 'em.
I been thinking about the Converse Platforms recently and this video happens to show up. Went to a Converse outlet store and they had those sneakers on sale and the only pair in my size. I was surprised with how light they are and they’re super comfortable. Maybe more so than traditional Converse. They don’t feel super tall and clunky and are easy to walk in. Awesome video and thanks for convincing me to buy a pair of platforms. 😎👍
It would be incredible if you did a side by side of the classic white sneakers that’ve become popular lately, like the Filas rupture, the new balances and maybe throw in some classic Nike and sneakers on the mix, see which ones’s the BEST white tennis shoe.
I have these Converse Run Star Hikes in a high top and as well in a low top version. I can honestly say they are the most comfortable shoes I've ever had...and I've had A LOT of shoes!!!
Who would've thought that Converse would've been the winner from this competition? Still won't be buying any of these but based on the comments, some people will be which is good
Weston I love, love your work (and the Togo wallet I use every day) but dude you got to fix up the background with some shelving, shoe cross-sections or something, I know you're working like crazy but a little bit here and there it'll make a difference. Maybe choose some of your favorite boots or rotate them, or get some posters or nice pieces of leather to hang up back there. It just feels like a bit of a regression compared to your backgrounds back in the day.
ive had the vans stacked slip ons for about a year now, and i really do love them especially for working double shifts. but they definitely collapse at those gaps between the rubber like you said lol. they make a weird noise every time it happens too. still gonna stick with the vans but might save up for some converse :)
I bought the converse about 4 months ago and don’t wear them often enough , but when I do they’re really comfortable and apart from the slight discolouration/difference on the whites of the shoe they really are a great platform shoe
Bro you should do an air max series! Starting with 95’s all the way to the modern ones. The sneakerheads would love that and personally I always had a special place for the black reflective 97’s really a classic shoe. Super interested to see them split. They where inspired by japanese bullet trains and where the first full air shoe on the market. Im into classier stuff but I still keep a pair for lazy days, so comfortable.
That was - although a pain to watch you tear them apart - very interesting. I would have appreciated a little more detail to the infos you gave, for example a height comparison. i'm glad i found this video though because i am trying to choose between a new pair of Canvas old school stacked Vans and Converse run star hike and i coudn't find much information to compare both. i'm used to Vans and a little scared to jump onto Converse. I'm on the market to buy my first platform shoes and I really want to feel the added height. I want to avoid being disappointed.
I have the converse and the vans stacked and can confirm the converse are more comfortable after a 8-10 hour shift. The vans aren’t super uncomfortable but they hurt more after a while.
OMG!! I couldn't wait to see the Converse and I was feeling every rip and tear thru them as I have about 10prs since my 2 complete knee replacements PHEW!!!!!
I had a pair of inexpensive platform boots. I loved them but in almost 2 weeks the heel bubbled out and eventually the sole came apart within 4 months. I still wore them, but if I would have paid more than I did I would have been mad. It looks like the vans and pumas have that possibility of bubbling out soles. Thanks for the vid and give toasty a pet for me ❤️
Thanks so much for the review and analysis! i was considering all of these options but have not purchased so very timely for me. I do have the Puma and you are spot on! while they're ok , after longer walks i do feel it for sure in my body/feet. Now knowing how they are made I'm not surprised. Thanks again for focusing on these.
Another great video, Weston! How about a video comparing the Hey Dude Wally to similar shoes, such as Crocs Santa Cruz, Bruno Marc Breeze, Skechers Melson Chad, etc.?
Hope to see you do this to military-tactical boots or shoes like those boots they use in the military or those outdoor shoes like Salomon, Merrell, Iowa those kind of things
You should try to cut open actual VANS Skateshoes. You can spot them by looking for a little checkerboard tag. They are build much stronger than normal VANS to last longer.
I just purchased a Timberland Ray City Oxford sneakers that could be described as platform shoes I am really interested how they prove themselves to be. There is probably no chance you will ever cut those apart, but I am leaving this here, becouse I would be interested in seeing it if that ever happened. Great video as always. 🙂

I work at a shoe store and I’m trying to learn more about the shoes we sell. I’m definitely going to be checking out more of your videos!!
I have the Lugged Leather Chuck Taylor All Star platform shoes and they are incredibly comfortable. I work at a lululemon, and I genuinely have issues standing for long periods of time. Like I have to wear compression socks even when a shifts 4hr. So for so long I could only wear my Nike pegasus running shoes… however I’ve found those are the only other shoes I can wear that won’t kill my feet and back
Is the leather good quality? I've been considering these
It would be helpful if you could cut in half the vans Comfycush, UltraCush and Popcush just to see if there is any difference between them. Thanks!!
So excited to see this video. I've been eyeing all of these! Thank you for the video.
I have the platform converse and lemme say that I love them. I even wear them to work in the office for casual fridays. Love!
I have all 4. I love the style of the Pumas & Vans. That said, I now understand why the Converse are the most comfortable and solid platforms I own.
Can men wear those?
i was looking for this exact video! been really thinking about the platform-type shoes, thanks for doing this
It would be incredible if you did a side by side of the classic white sneakers that’ve become popular lately, like the Filas rupture, the new balances and maybe throw in some classic Nike and sneakers on the mix, see which ones’s the BEST white tennis shoe.
I have these Converse Run Star Hikes in a high top and as well in a low top version. I can honestly say they are the most comfortable shoes I've ever had...and I've had A LOT of shoes!!!
I have a pair of White Buffalo Platform sneakers that I've had for 5 years now, I wonder what it is inside them?
Who would've thought that Converse would've been the winner from this competition? Still won't be buying any of these but based on the comments, some people will be which is good
I have the Converse platforms and they are soooo comfy.
Worth noting the Converse is marketed towards a more hiking-focused audience, so it's mostly honed in towards that aspect.
I bought the converse about 4 months ago and don’t wear them often enough , but when I do they’re really comfortable and apart from the slight discolouration/difference on the whites of the shoe they really are a great platform shoe
I would like to see you compare high end running shoes both road & track styles. That is where you should see the most advanced shoe technology.
More suggestions:. Hunting boots, men's sneakers, basketball shoes
What would you suggest is better to purchase
Runstar series or the Lugged Converse?
I never thought I'd be the type to wear a platform sneaker, but I bought the Converse and I absolutely love them. Glad I made the right choice :)
Platform converse is all I wear now for a long day of walking! They’re even more comfy than my nikey air forces. 10/10 recommend.
I wear my platform converse to work, I’m standing all day and they have been surprisingly comfy 😀
I have both Adidas and Converse. I love both
Thanks for doing a video on women's shoes! I'd love to see women's boots.
I have the converse and the vans stacked and can confirm the converse are more comfortable after a 8-10 hour shift. The vans aren’t super uncomfortable but they hurt more after a while.
Really really wanna see you cut the new gen of KOIO Capri in half and see if it's really an upgraded version or not
I've been eyeing for Puma Cali Wedge for days & found you video. They look cute 🥹. Guess i'll just get a pair of converse
Great video! Was positive the Van's would come out on top...until they were cut in half!
I have the lower platform Converse and the Puma love so comfortable omg!
Patiently waiting for a Danner Mountain Light review.
Thanks for the vid and give toasty a pet for me ❤️
thanks for the upload and please don't cut yourself, I'm always afraid when watching you slice them puppies apart ❤️
Thank you for saving me lot of time and wasted money. I'd been eyeing the Converse - but wasn't sure. Love your channel
I love this video but I love all your videos it just hits different when I actually wear the shoes 👌
I have been way tempted to buy the vans… Thank you for making this!!
Another great video, Weston! How about a video comparing the Hey Dude Wally to similar shoes, such as Crocs Santa Cruz, Bruno Marc Breeze, Skechers Melson Chad, etc.?
Can you compare the solovair platforms and new dm’s Audrick to the dm’s Jadons?
Thnx! Just looking for platform sneakers to buy.., wouldn't have thot there was so much difference between how's they're constructed,!
Thank you, I’d love a review on the converse platforms that just look like thick normal ones if possible ❤
Thank you so much. You saved me $75 (the Vans after a coupon code).
How would be the ideal platform construction? Not asking about being practical, just the most perfect platform possible
Hope to see you do this to military-tactical boots or shoes like those boots they use in the military or those outdoor shoes like Salomon, Merrell, Iowa those kind of things
Some need width not length.
For walking and running shoes for a light guy, which brand is highest quality please?
You should try to cut open actual VANS Skateshoes. You can spot them by looking for a little checkerboard tag. They are build much stronger than normal VANS to last longer.
Love this channel! It's super educational :D
Loved the video! What does the center cut score mean? Is it related to the "counter" aka heel stability?
I just purchased a Timberland Ray City Oxford sneakers that could be described as platform shoes I am really interested how they prove themselves to be. There is probably no chance you will ever cut those apart, but I am leaving this here, becouse I would be interested in seeing it if that ever happened.
Great video as always. 🙂
