  • This time, I'm back with a classic tutorial creating this smooth type animation with soft gradients and neon glows in service of showing off my favorite techniques I use in almost every motion design project. all in Adobe After Effects. I'll show you the entire workflow so you can see how it all comes all together in the end, faster than you expect.

    I've marked down some subtle but super useful but subtle key commands Ben dishes out (for myself as much as anybody)
    - Revealing all properties on a layer -- 1:08
    - Cycle through fill options on a shape layer -- 1:50
    - Shortcut for easy ease on keyframes -- 3:44
    - Selecting the mask on a shape layer -- 7:10
    Thanks Ben! Another video I'll come back to several times I'm sure

    You can unlink the mask feather (like scale) so that only the y axis gets the feather and not the x. By doing that, you don’t have to make the sides of the mask larger to avoid the unwanted feathering

I've been ajusting the anchor points using the parameters and then putting things back where they are supposed to be for 2 years. Somehow I felt this was wrong, but I kept on doing this. I have some work to get done still this year! I owe you some hour of sleep! And, no. I never used to label layers. Now I do. Specially pre comps. I reused some pre comps from previous project on my last video. And, it had 3 or 4 "comp1".

    It somehow feels like blasphemy to leave one of those "why didn't you just..." comments under one of your videos, but why didn't you just unlink the feather properties and adjust the y-value only, instead of having to keep an eye on the position/size of the mask? 😄
    On a sidenote: for everyday adjustments like size/colour/contour, I find it easier to just double-tap the U button becasue I get easily overwhelmed with too many options lol, but that CMD+click tip will definitely come in handy for layer effects. So thanks a lot for another very useful piece of content 🤗

    you could've used the width of the layer, with Layer control effect and a simple expression, making width of the beam always follow the width of the letter, and just changing the "parent" on the layer control for each letter

    • @Bonirin
      @Bonirin 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Also copying effcts with Cntrl + Alt + C would also link all the parameters, of the effects pasted, to the original effect

    • @Bonirin
