  • This was supposed to be the draw for the competition, but that went badly wrong... so to compensate, here is a review of the wonderful Neat Iota Explorer. ... competition results coming soon!

Great video! AMT = Air Motion Transformer. The drawing is almost right: the top driver is in a sealed box and the internal driver is in the vented section. Totem have also used ported isobaric in their Mani-2 speakers. Isobaric loading doubles the motor power of the drive unit so you get the same bass extension in half the usual cabinet volume.

Excellent review! ... It is obvious from watching your content ... that you somewhat underplay your vast knowledge of worthwhile "quality" audio equipment.
Undoubtedly, you subscriptions will continue to grow ... people tend to pick up on someone who is honest and knowledgeable.

Good review. I have the alphas (room not big enough for the explorer) and with the right amplifier and placement I can't justify adding a sub. Keep up the good work.

I heard the Iotas at the Bristol show driven by a Rega amp and they filled the room with sound

    Hi
Recently came across your channel, like your style/presentation. Have subscribed. We have a pair of the Alphas, really love what they do on our Uniti. Cheers

The first cabinet from the woofer is the correct size on the drawing but the cabinet from the second woofer is much bigger and reaches to where the sloping panel starts 👍So the second woofer has a bass port which is rather unique for a isobaric configuration..

Yes, I assumed wrongly that the top section would be ported... Steve Oakes from Neat has commented above

Thanks for another informative review. High praise indeed - one of your favourites, wow. I’ve ended up buying a Sugden A21 SE Sig (on its way) - not least based on your advice - and was wondering if a pair of explorers could be a good match? Or maybe the Petite Classics? In my 4.5m x 4.5 room. Thanks and best regards.

Nice one. Any experience with or thoughts on the neat ministra?
Keep it going by the way, really enjoy your pragmatic approach to this stuff.

PMC like TDL use transmission line a different kind of loading and they go really low :-)

Hi there They are highly regarded in the hifi world . I for one have thought the design was a little controversial but it seems to achieve the desired results . As for the competition , I declined to participate as I probably was not worthy of such riches in the prize department . But I wonder if anyone has spotted a connection with the TV program Strictly come dancing . Kind regards as always 😀👍👍👍

I’m wondering could Sugden a21se dive Xplorer well? My room is 2.8m x 4.4m is it too small for Xplorer? Does Xplorer work well in low volume?

I think your room will be a little small, also low volume is not their stongest point...I mean very low 😊

I am not that familiar with Neat Acoustics, since their speakers are hard to find and audition in the U.S. One thing that is striking about Neat is that they have obviously been influenced by Win Burhoe and his speaker designs. Burhoe invented the inverted dome tweeter when he was with the American speaker company EPI. Some of Neat's speakers use inverted (concave) dome tweeters, The design of the Explorer is also remarkably similar to Burhoe's Silent Loudspeaker. I believe he made a speaker with a similar desgin when he was with EPI.

Can these speakers be positioned against the front wall like Larsen speakers?

    • @justasimplefox
      @justasimplefox 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

I my case they are 40cm away from the front wall, otherwise bass can be a little overwhelming
