@Batuhan Batuhan why are you being so rude? and what does race even have to do with this scene? he was disgustingly eating a lychee which is a representation of his sister's eye, and that's what made his mom mad.
This movie was amazing, the husband never saw how evil his son was. Which was annoying bc everything could have been avoided if the parents stepped in and did something about his behavior.
Unbelievable if my son blinded his own sister and then showed zero remorse or empathy for what he did and then acted like that while we talked about it I would straight up beat his ass and when he regains consciousness and the ability to talk we can address the issue of what happened to his sister and his horrible behavior
Neither the book nor the movie say exactly what happened per se, and in the book the mother does show physical aggression though this is to no avail just like in real life there's little to no reasoning with these people. In the book Kevin actually toys with his fathers mind to get what he needs out of him, in the end he would probably act the way you desire him to act only to mislead you. Best thing for you to do would be to turn someone like him to the state, you could beat his ass if you wanted to, tho I urge if you know anybody with children like this to not take matters into their own hands and to simply report them. Had the mother handed him to the state those kids wouldn't have been killed at the school. Ironically there are so many parents like these in this movie, which is really sad honestly.
Nah, people like Kevin actually know what responsibility is, there's a misconception that psychopaths don't understand morality when in fact they do which is what makes them scarier and is what truly solidifies them as evil. My psychology teacher once said to display emotions vs. not having them are two different things. To put it in a way you'll see it better would be like someone causing physical pain because they know it hurts, in this scenario Kevin is toying with responsibility because he knows it drives his parents mad and he knows of their expectations, the fact that he knows his responsibilities is the direct awareness that leads to why he does not abide by them... Simply put, he pretends to not understand to manipulate others.
This is Swinton’s tour de force. It’s so hard to choose because she’s just so brilliant but if I had to choose this would be it. Lynne Ramsay also deserves credit for directing this masterpiece plus You Were Never Really Here.
@@Nikita-qb7xd um ho, are you slow? The dude have gotten arrested for assaulting a woman not too long ago and gotten arrested again a couple days ago. Get off his dick
When the movie begun I was feeling bad for Kevin thinking Eva was a bad mother, but as the film kept going and the mother was trying to better herself, I begun to feel less and less sympathy for Kevin and realise how much of a monster he is.
I'd say the primary part here is Kevin's not understanding that his parents think he'd feel responsible. Psychopaths never do. It wouldn't even occur to him as that's not in his psyche, and he's making that clear to his parents. Stupid dad doesn't get it..
Kevin understands completely. I'm not entirely sure where you got this idea that Psychopaths do not or are incapable of understanding responsibility, awareness, morality, the truth is that they fully do which is what makes them even scarier, I've seen several videos of killers and people who have talked to them and investigated them at this point have concluded that they're fully aware and that stuff like demons, visions, voices etc... Are usually ways to make excuses for them a sort of way to manipulate others into feeling sorry for them or fooling them into believing that they don't understand or are simply misunderstood. The method they use is the same method many abusers use on women and children, and because I'm going to be working in a prison it's very important for me to know that these inmates are actually all very much sound of mind, they do in fact know the difference between right and wrong which is what makes them evil people. For you to say they don't understand makes it so that they're not evil, to understand others feelings is the entire reason why he's so cruel to them why he plays with them. In fact if you read the book Kevin chose some of his victims based on understanding them and he tortured his sister based on jealousy because she is the exact opposite of him and even chose the timing correctly not only because of his age but also because his parents were talking about divorce which incidentally would mean an escape for his mother whom he had a pleasure with torturing throughout the whole story.
I know the author can’t Bc it might take away the ambiguity from her original book. But I legit wish she would do a POV from Kevin’s side …go into his thought processes etc. I would be purchasing that boom asap! Love this piece of work and movie!
The problem with psychopaths is that the perfectly know how to behave like a normal person. Look at the change he has with his father for example. With him he's always welcoming and open. With Doctors, he can build up a perfectly believable story about what happened to his arm.
I'm scared of Ezra Miller here just because of his negative portrayal. I mean, he's awesome in that role, but this character makes me scared of him even more.
I used to hate lychees until I chose to recreate this scene in film class and I had to watch it over and over and over again to create a shot list and a storyboard, and he made them look so sexy that I started to warm up to the idea of having to eat them for a whole day, but I couldn't find fresh ones because it was off season so I had to use canned lychees. And it was so disgusting I remember washing them to get the syrup off. This scene was so hard to shoot that I had to eat like 15 of those by the end of the day, and by the time we had the entire thing on camera, I was addicted to them. I didn't even notice that I started eating them while talking to my teacher between shots. Now all I want is a box of these and an orange juice. Smart choice watching this scene two months before the season starts. Great.
I really want to recreate the scene to it's oddly satisfying. Right now I just am using watermelon to recreate this scene but soon I will have some lychee to do it all the time. In a way your kind of like me by reading your comment. You get influenced by what you deem as cool in a movie or shows. 🤘🤣
Some parents really spoil their children , they think if they say to them the thing you did is bad then it means child abuse so they just shut up and let the child do whatever he/she wants. I'm a Asian and parents are strict but it's not mean that they hit the child...no but they are really care about respect and good behavior young ones must always respect old ones. Do your parents really hit you with a belt?!or you just want to say they are strict? (Sorry for my poor english)
I worked on the set of this film. What nobody knows is that the house this movie was filmed into had the most unbelievable level of paranormal activity I ever experienced in my life.
Dude does a good job playing a crazy person, but there are certain scenes that ruin the consistency that the character (kevin) could have. He could have good days and bad days but I'm going to stay thinking it was the writing.
For people like Kevin, the "Good Days" are pure manipulation. They could be a genuine enjoyment of the day, and no inclination to do any harm or mischief at the time, but that's their personal perogative. There's no actual affection there. Some days are simply to keep their family or friends on edge, doubting themselves.
*They're...what do you call it...an acquired taste* Like he's almost saying not everyone is like me...you need to have to be inhumane to have a lack of remorse, empathy, and feelings.....it's an acquired taste to understand me
Yes thank you I do not feel bad at all sitting here thinking what kind of parents are you to just let your kid behave that way after such a horrific event you mean that feel anything emotionally because you're a sociopath but I can promise you as a mother I'll make you feel the pain if you act that way towards me. I grew up with a manic depressive bipolar brother who also happens to be a junkie and prone to some extremely outrageous behavior and that's the nicest way I could put it. And unfortunately it runs in the family I grew up around many family members who either suffer from drug addiction mental illness or both. And I have seen all types of behavior ranging from stuff like this to violent outbursts and after years and years of it I can honestly say I don't take any of this crap and I wouldn't take it from my own son
I see a few comments thinking Kevin doesn't understand "responsibility", no he does, that's what makes him evil. Contrary to what most people think, psychopaths know between right and wrong, that's what makes them evil, they do wrong because they know it's wrong, the why is for various reasons, some do it for fun like Henry Lucas, some do it out of sheer selfishness and pleasure like Ted Bundy, others do it to hurt other people like Richard Ramirez while others do it because they take a bizarre interest in experimentation such as Jefferey Dhamer, whatever the reason as to why they do bad things makes no difference, just know that they're aware, don't make excuses for them. If you do research you'll see that all psychos are aware of what they're doing and the effects they have. I believe they're in control of what they do despite what google says, but they simply don't care about you, I mean like most people you gotta give them a reason to control their behavior and it has to be of value to them which is something we as a society lack, we have little to nothing that they want that could make them stop or control themselves. Don't make excuses for these people ever.
What you wrote is confirmed by the novel itself, when Kevin (after the crime) finds repulsive mass shooters who won't take responsibility or look for an excuses. I've notice you read it.
Kevin is a textbook psychopath, no matter what they did he was going to turn out this way. He does not have the capacity to care about other people. He sees everyone around him as objects for his amusement who he can manipulate. He massacres his classmates, they didn't bully him or treat him like shit, he just wanted to because they mean nothing to him. Since he was a toddler he rejected all of his mothers attempts at making a connection and goes out of his way to cause her pain. Do not ever defend people like Kevin
Can I read anything meaningful about his unnatural behaviour without fangirls horrending about how hot he is... Wake up, he is portraying a psycho-soiciopath... Gosh these may be the same kind of girls who would jump into Ted Bundy's car, just cause he was handsome.
No. This guy is a monsterous psychopath who needs to be locked up or taken to a mental institution. Fortunately, he is not invincible like Michael Myers.
I'm still kinda curious how exactly she was blinded by the drain stuff, like did he hold his sister down & pour it on her? She doesn't say what happened, if she did then maybe the dad would start to believe his wife

The acting by Ezra is on point honestly. Like they’re acting shows the true psychopath that is Kevin. Everyone else’s acting was on point as well.
you mean like the true psycho ezra is?
That's because he wasn't acting - LoL

@@walkingcorpse1224 Indeed. Teachers know it best, when confronted by "I know my kid is a bit special but would never hurt a fly"

With everything going on in his life right now, I Don't think he was acting. 😲
Yeah, he was basically just being himself in this movie.
Kevin's brain.....
RESPONSIBLE, WTF is that.
My brain.....
RESPONSIBLE, the exact opposite of me.

2022: We need to talk about Ezra...
I love that the movie shows Eva self-medicating throughout the film. She was an alcoholic. She used it to cope with the emotional bondage of her life.
The real thing Kevin needs to sort out is his table manners
he's so gorgeous
Wow!!! Never ever having kids
Yeah Really!!!

some people are disgusted and hate this scene.......i, myself find it more than easy to watch it over and over

I know the author can’t Bc it might take away the ambiguity from her original book. But I legit wish she would do a POV from Kevin’s side …go into his thought processes etc. I would be purchasing that boom asap! Love this piece of work and movie!
There's no one to blame but the parents. They should have gotten him the help he needed a long, long time ago.
mom went to doctor & doctor said he was fine
if you want to blame someone other than Kevin, blame the father
The problem with psychopaths is that the perfectly know how to behave like a normal person. Look at the change he has with his father for example. With him he's always welcoming and open. With Doctors, he can build up a perfectly believable story about what happened to his arm.
@Annistar Bullshit
Nothing to do with the parents. Psychopaths are wired differently from other humans and so far there is absolutely nothing we can do to change them.
@Annistar actually they can they just don’t want it
This is such a good movie, but so sad

He doesn’t blame her. Not even a bit.
A movie about kevin a teen sociopath, he manipulates and controls his family who don’t know what to do with him
Anti-social behavior is evident and symptomatic of psychopathy, along with lack of empathy.

An really good movie. It's stay with you a long time.
I worked on the set of this film. What nobody knows is that the house this movie was filmed into had the most unbelievable level of paranormal activity I ever experienced in my life.
Huh? Are you serious? Because tbh, Kevin Khatchadourian reminds me a lot of one male spirit who was really unpleasant.
I don't want kids after watching this this scene is so disturbing

*They're...what do you call it...an acquired taste*
Like he's almost saying not everyone is like me...you need to have to be inhumane to have a lack of remorse, empathy, and feelings.....it's an acquired taste to understand me
“ezra’s acting is so good” playing terrible ppl is a bit easier when ur a terrible person
You just wanna beat the shit out of him 😬😂
Yes thank you I do not feel bad at all sitting here thinking what kind of parents are you to just let your kid behave that way after such a horrific event you mean that feel anything emotionally because you're a sociopath but I can promise you as a mother I'll make you feel the pain if you act that way towards me.
I wonder if any movie would have the guts to do a movie like this but have the mother kill the son before he can do harm.
This movie was painful to watch till the end. Besides that I think I might read the book....
was the acquired taste line referencing natural born killers
"Oooh. Let me have it. Let me grab your soul away". -Kate Bush, Wuthering Heights
These parents created their own heli.
NOT, feeling sorry for them.
Kevin was just unbearable
