Contact with water used to be a point of no return for phones but now nearly all claim to be waterproof or water-resistant. But what do those terms mean for you and your phone?
💦 A water-resistant phone protects against a few drops or sprays of water, but it probably won't survive a dip in the pool.
💦 A waterproof phone will still work even after being completely submerged in water (for a set period of time).
All phones are given a rating from 0 to 9 which refers to how well it keeps out dirt, dust, and liquid. To find out how much protection your phone needs this summer, look for the IP rating in the instruction manual or on the manufacturer’s website. Phones that claim to be waterproof should have an IP rating of 7 or higher.
