I have one. What I don't like is that the neck should be painted. The raw wood makes it look homemade or even unfinished. If sound is what you care about though, you can get a good SG sound out of it.
I have this exact same guitar and I had zero issues with it. I bought mine from Sweetwater. It is my 4th Ibanez in this body style. I also have a GAX30, a GAX70, and an AR420, which is by far my favorite guitar of all the ones I own. Ibanez are ALWAYS the easiest to play straight from the box.
I just picked up a mint condition Gax30 on ebay.i love it. I wish I could afford the joe satriani chrome boy.but it's like 5k or near that..maybe I'll make one. I love Ibanez,but..Kramer has a sweet Baretta Special single pickup that's calling my name right now.lol
@@overnightguitarist5063 I picked up my GAX70 used a couple of years ago. I did a straight trade for an Indio DLX Retro Tele I never got on with because of too much noise in my house for the single coils to be useful. I swapped pickups on it to gold foil neck and split humbucker bridge. It is still one of my favorite guitars.
I have the candy red it had issues though. Out of box it played great but I had fret end cuts too like that.the tail piece on these completely crap the open top fit let's the strings fly out on restrings. On the up side the thing has binding not many others do that maybe Jackson on the js series instruments. Plus colors are cool and control layout and space in the back is cool.I personally could not live without doing a fret job so I filed recrownd and polished whole neck dressedb the frets too. That truss rod cover flip thing is cool but will probably break at some point tuners are absolutely junk on these. I yanked the bridge pickup stuck in a guitar madness Duncan custom copy pickup 16 bucks eBay. That sucked so I put in a emg chrome 81 now it absolutely is pardon my french fu---ing amazing. I plan on putting in another emg neck pickup.bjust get a different tail piece mark off the frets with sharpie and file down the first round of marks until it's at least smooth and recrown polish.im putting on gotoh tuners next month I can post a vid if anyone wants me too on the tuner install or I can do a total out of box fix on one if someone wants to donate me another new one idk maybe Ibanez wants me too do there work also Ibanez make these available with the Les Paul wood instead of plywood ✌️✌️
I think bad truss rods, stripped out etc are common in more inexpensive guitars. Its pretty sad because it's potentially a new guitar players only way to start with a low priced guitar. I always inform complete newbs to guitar to look up truss rods, and how to check them if at all possible before buying..Thanks for the comments,,that's why I have this channel..to inform new guitarists and anyone interested in playing.
Great deal? The prices have gone up? The blems are no big deal. Now you can do whatever you want to do without having that pressure of a high priced guitar.
I bought this one in green this year and i love it.
