I notice they don't use that black Goop that they use to use on the connectors that was conductive. My Rokit 8's (2 gen) crpaped out after 10 years and when I brought them to get fixed, no one would touch them, they said it wasn't worth it....told me to throw them away and buy Yamaha...lol so I took them home and opened them up cause what have I got to loose. I replace 4 caps and 2 resistors in one and the other , all I did was clean the goop with Acetone that was shorting it out.......now they work great.

Rob, have you tried to figure out how to bypass the auto-standby on the gen 3 speakers? U1, U5 and Q5 form some kind of timer that controls voltage to pins 9 and 10 on the two power amp ICs, but so far, I haven't been able to figure out how to bypass this circuit. It should be a simple matter of installing a jumper between Vc and one of the pins on one of those ICs.
for me the great problem with the KRK G3 serie is the stand by ... you listen to music chill in your home studio with low volume, and "click" the speaker turn off !!
@@CheezhOfficial for me I had a pair of rokit G3 and I listen often chill music with low volume and often they stand by after 20min and I must turn up the volume to turn on the speakers. I seen on forum that I'm not alone for this problem, maybe you listen music with more volume than me, everybody has not the same hear ... :)
@@ChrisBessy probably more consumer vs pro gear, if you've got them plugged in with RCAs to your phone or pc, it's not gonna give the same voltage as the balanced signal from TRS/XLR from an interface
The solution may lie in reducing the input volume on the back of the monitor while turning up the audio source slightly to keep the input level above the auto-shutoff threshold.

I've Had a selection of krks for a long time now. Never had any issues with them you find a lot of people who have bad things to say about speakers and audio equipment in general either have no idea how to run things or are playing youtube rips or low kps tracks threw them and then complaining at them sounding shit ......... personally I mix a lot of jump up drum n bass and jungle and they sound perfectly fine .
@@DazTech. depends how you use them even tho room u use speakers in plays a big part in the final sounding . People sit until there blue in the face debating and arguing stuff . Its peoples preferance and how they get along with what there using . My white series is simply played threw a pioneer mixer nothing fancy and I'm more than happy with the sound it's as simple as that isn't it . If you think there shit that's ur opinion and it's good I didn't use ur money to buy them 😂

For example if you told me now u have a krk and run just a 3.5 output to a mobile phone compared to a mixer or mixing desk your going to get a lot more difference between things . My personal opinion is when I'm mixing I want a all rounder monitor I dont want something that's either rattling the room with bass or splitting it ear drums with top end . There a little over 100 quid each on the grand scale of things that's cheap as fuck for a speaker so I think people expect more than what they should out of them .

Really want to see if the electronics in them are better than their lower end monitors. They definitely sound a lot better than Rokits or VXTs, but I'm really weary of chinese electronics, especially considering the price of the V6 Series 4.
How repairable is this third generation compared against the previous G2 models? I've seen about the black gunk of death in the G2 but now the G3 uses SMD components so that makes me wonder about repairability

hm, So my highs cut out on one of my rokit 6s..checked the tweeter it's reading 4ohms, tested with different cables, amps, and mixers. Any thoughts on what the issue could be?

Used to be true pre-1990. Now that all pro audio gears are made in China, no need to fret about that. You shouldn't do any serious monitoring with these anyway. Monitor speakers are an all-time snake oil on par of the overpriced hi-fi gears which tend to sound really woody and grainy no matter the price.
much better ns10m with a good 30 + 30 watt rms amplifier. with these you will make mixing errors. if you want to play better, you have to lower the crossover frequency and replace the tw with a lower resonance. the filtering capacitors are too small and even the opamp do not like them. they are suitable for hifi but not for audio engineering

I don't like having that synthetic wool in a ported speaker. The woofer will break it down , spit it out of the port to cover the room and your lungs. Better than fiberglass though I suppose.
