Haha Same. I watch every morning, at least - so I thought it's best to start from the beginning instead of bitting and batting. The amount I have learned for my own repair/set up/etc business from these videos is invaluable. Even down to the ethos of the work and finished product. I owe him a lot.
Summary: A friend requested an angled armrest for a mandolin to improve ergonomics. The armrest is crafted from heavily figured big leaf maple. A template is created using a tracing of the mandolin's lower bout. Hardware holes are drilled and the profile is cut using a bandsaw and spindle sander. The armrest is shaped, stained for contrast, and finished with polyurethane, providing ergonomic benefits and enhancing the instrument's appearance.
Tanner Evans it's a violin/viola chinrest bracket. The 4/4 size is just big enough for the standard body depth of A and F style instruments. I added some thin sheet cork to the contact surfaces. There are a lot of sellers on eBay, or any of the violin-makers supply places.
