Well done man. You did great for your first year plus as you said the memories you made are priceless and timeless. We will keep supporting on the channel. I have no doubt you will see growth here as well and make significant income by the end of next year. Best of luck, I cannot wait to see you enjoy your farming experience even more.
Kudos for laying open all the numbers. That was highly interesting, and I can't wait to see what the next years will bring! Wishing you the best of luck !!!
Hey man love the video. The visual walkthrough gives a really nice overview, quite impressive compared to similar videos. Best regards from Jutland Denmark
It's Allright It's your first year your still learning you will be able to make a little more maby you've gained a lot of knowledge this year keep up the good work
We farm 250 acres without crop insurance. My dad has had it in the past and has tried to make claims but the way it works out is our high ground does well in wet years and low ground does well in dry years so we never received any money. Our farm also loses about $4,000 cash a month but my dad only cares about equity which I still cant get my head around
@@Cow.Chaserinteresting. I typically only buy insurance on things if it’s required so crop insurance isn’t something I immediately considered. With my small farm and the fact I don’t rely on the income to live makes me lean toward self insuring. By that I mean always have enough saved to cover losses on my own. It would hurt of course but the insurance companies must come out ahead overall or they wouldn’t be in business.
Cool video. When pencil goes to paper, it really changes things. One thing though, I think your math was alittle off for the pasture portion. You put 635$/acre/month. At 60 acres for 6 months that net is almost a quarter million. I think you meant 10.70/acre or 641/60 acres/month. Other than that good video. Keep it up.
@@Suits2Boots Don’t we all. You did good on what you had though, mid 60 bushel beans is nothing to bat an eye at. If those land costs you quoted were accurate then you made out like a bandit on that land buy. Here in Kansas, decent row crop ground is 7-8k and pasture ground way out in nowhere land is 4kish. And that’s not counting being with 50 miles of the bigger towns. Keep plugging along though, it is great to get the family out of the city, teach them some about how food actually grows, what it takes to bring food to the table is often understated and misunderstood. Great channel though man.
Only reason you made any money was because you didn’t buy crop insurance. That’s pretty much a fact. If you never paid crop insurance in a whole farmingcareer be a millionaire.. until it takes it all out one year and your screwed.
Awesome recap with detailed financials. Look forward to seeing how you develop the farm over time and share more learnings.

We also milk cows so we don't rely as much on the crops for income.

So in the future you could buy like one or two gravity wagons if you don't want to have someone haul it for you

Yes, you're right. It was $635 TOTAL per month for all 60 acres. I added a text box at the bottom of that part with the correction. Thanks!
I wish what I said was right.....a quarter million sounds much better!
