@@lettiegrant9447 That's a major factor with tension alopecia, but there are different types (and causes) of alopecia. For example, hair loss, thinning, and alopecia are symptoms of conditions like polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS) and hypothyroidism (just to name a few), and they are also side effects of medications to treat those conditions. Hair loss is even a side effect of high blood pressure and cholesterol medications (again, just to name a few). So women with those conditions are more susceptible to hair loss, and yes, anything that adds additional stress to the hair follicles will exacerbate that susceptibility (increasing the likelihood of hair loss, as well as contributing to an acceleration in that process).
This video was so sensitive for me to come out of my shell and be transparent about my alopecia. I hope you guys like it. Leave me a comment and lets me know if it helped or tag me what you guys use that suffer from thin edges as well.
Your video was really good. I too suffer from alopecia so I totally understand the sensitivity. You help build my confidence up to put my video out there about mines❤👍
I appreciate your transparency and boldness! I suffer from a hereditary receding hairline and use edge enhancement! I will definitely be added this routine!❤❤❤❤
I don't know if you read these comments. I just want to say thank you. You have changed my life. No more lace wigs for me. I am so confident in wearing my hair. I have bald spots on the side of my hair this has changed my life. Thank you. Thank you and thank you.
I lost my edges after I went through chemotherapy and radiation treatments from breast cancer. Thanks so much for this video. It gives me hope that I can possibly wear my natural hair.
Ironically, as a breast cancer survivor myself, hair started growing on my face because of the tamoxifen but not on my hairline which is receding because of braids.😡😡
This video has really encouraged me, this have been my life for years 😪, I wear wigs to to hide my edges since this video I have been wearing new styles. Thank you for being bold and allowing others to gain confidence, I can’t say Thank you enough.
I to have Hell opecia as well I wear my natural hair and thinning in front I will definately try it. Glad you found something that makes you hair happy .
Man you just gave me life! I'm 48 and starting to thin. My favorite styles are ponytails, thank you for being bold enough to reveal something so personal in order to help others! May God Bless you that He restore everything backto you DOUBLE!!!
Check out " instant Edges" a sister invented them. I have some. Small little well made hair peices you place on your thin areas and swoop. Unbelievable.
This was pretty amazing. Unfortunately, some have included discouraging comments. I'm certain that those of us suffering with alopecia are aware that we lose hair from wearing it pulled too tightly. I suffer with alopecia that also causes painful scalp, so this wouldn't work for me. But, I would be elated to do this very occasionally if I did not. Thank you for providing this knowledge to others in order to feel good. You may have given someone a hairstyle that they may have not thought possible for a job interview, graduation or even their wedding day😊
Thank you for that. I don’t know why people take this so personally as if I’m doing a bad thing. I wear wigs 95% of the time. This was only a demonstration video on how to cover up your bald spots for an updo. We sufferers of Alopecia desire to wear trendy styles sometimes.
This video made me cry. I also suffer from traction alopecia and it has totally killed my self confidence. I wear wigs also, but I love my natural hair especially in updos. Thank u for this ❤️

Absolutely amazing!! I thought I would have to get surgery or wear lace wigs forever and now thanks to you I can be confident wearing my natural hair how I like.
Thank you 🥰 Yes definitely temporary for sure. But I managed what I have with Jamaican Black Castor Oil every night before bed and it really helps grow your edges.
Thank you beautiful I appreciate that people don’t know how hard it is living and looking at it especially around you man. He’s use to it now and loves me for me ❤️

I know it’s all fashion but instead of the edge control you can try Nu Nile. Put your hair all the way up in to the ponytail, using the Nu Nile then go back in with the black stick. and then we’ll go over that with a little bit more Nu Nile. It comes out amazing there is no bleeding or running it looks really good. Until you go to sleep LOL it’ll be everywhere so make sure you tie a nice thick black scarf around it to keep it from transferring onto your pillowcase. I thought it was the only one who use a black stick LOL I love edge control but I don’t really using except on baby hair. With the Nu Nile and the blackstick you can even go in the pool there will be no running or transferring it’ll look amazing I wish I had the courage to do a tutorial. I’m so proud of you that you’re so brave you go girl.
Honey u should have just dropped a mic when u was done this looks amazing and u definitely didn't need the extra hair but it is cute either way. Thank you for this
Thank u so much u saved me! I want to wear a high bun but my edges look terrible ! I really dont wanna be confined to a lace closure. Thanks so much for this idea!
EDGE TIPS I do: 1) Jamaican Castor Oil 2) Coddle, nurture, sooth, massage those edges AT ALL COSTS, ALL THE TIME, no harsh tension styles 3) only use SATIN scarfs or pillow cases 4) ease any life stress, with UNAPOLOGETIC 'you time' & 5) healthy diet and H20... also (6 optional: Biotin, was too strong 4 me and it did the opposite, but people like it)!! I am typically a 'lion mane' hair person, but my Loctician said, "your edges are looking a little thinner..." 👀 who me, I NEVER had edge problems in my life... I applied all the above & they are back healthy & stronger!!💜

I'm going through menopause and my hair is thinning, especially at the crown of my head. I've always had thick hair and now I'm becoming self-conscious. Your video inspired me to try something different with my hair. Thank you!
Good job. The edges looked nature, instead of painted on. I am consistently impresses by the innovated and inexpensive method us ladies employ to hide these painful imperfections. Thank you so much for this awesome tip. I have same patches of baldness on both sides from the artificial dreadlocks I did over 2year already and just doesnt grow back and bothers me when i put a hairstyle that reveals my frontal edges. Thanks again for this magic, I am never complaining again after this trick

This looks great! It’s actually similar to my current routine with the exception of the Kiss stick. I’ll be adding that to my regimen. Thank you for sharing.
I luv us coming together sharing and showing our stories as black women we have suffered with our hair for years. Product after product remember all those perms, dripping curls, tight braids. We pulled and pulled on our hair not knowing that one day we would be looking for hair remedys to assist us. All the medications, can't eat certain foods, can't find the right shampoos & conditioners. Thank God for UTUBE a plat form for us to share all about our hair. Some things will work and some will not so I salute the sisters brave enough to share and help us all on this hair journey every one can use everyone's comments there for someone...thx to you with your wonderful hairdo.
Thanks for sharing this! It looks great! I'll definitely be trying it for my edges. I appreciate you for being so vulnerable. You're helping a lot of people.
Hairloss resulting from tugging and pulling hairstyles is referred to as "Tension alopecia." Its usually temporary, but the longer you wear a style that tugs and pulls, the more difficult it is for that hair to grow back. It can be done, but it takes time. Switching up the hairstyle for a bit helps a lot.
Yes I realized I made a verbal mistake. Mine isn’t temporary my follicles are dead. There is nothing but surgery to help me that I was told by a dermatologist years ago. I just learned to live with it.
You should go to another dermatologist preferably a black one my hair follicles was dying but I got steroid injections as well as ointment with proper hair care my black Dr. Grew all my bald and thinning hair back. She's even training white Dr. On our hair loss issues. Your natural hair is beautiful keep looking for a Dr that care enough to treat you properly not take away all hope. Good luck beautiful there's hope for some of us I was smooth bald and got All my hair follicles and hair back ❤
It’s not always temporary. I have traction alopecia and although some of my edges came back they never did fully. I stayed away from the tight hairstyles
Actually I thought your natural hair was beautiful without the ponytail. I understand you wanted a different look. Thanks so much for sharing. You gave us hope.
This is what I call truly gangsta. I have the utmost respect for you. I am definitely Italy going to try this method. I thank you from BK. I I’m so tired of wigs & now I have box braids to let the remaining perm grow out. You are a blessing

Chill out it dont matter the mean of hairline baldness. She trying to help us
It usually is don from those tight braids
Exactly
So what 8s it for people who dont have a medical condition??? Just bad hair care thats all perms and tight braids will make your hair fall out

My godmom has never let me see her fix her hair and I don't press her. When she finishes, she looks so much like you. Hair and make up on point. Thank you for helping me respect her more. I hope she relaxes around me because I made need to help her one day. I will study your video a few more times and be ready when that day comes. Bless you.💖
Thank you ❤️

You are the GOAT, ma'am. You have blessed many. Great ponytail.
Thank you ❤️you are so right all those thighs braids and chemicals have really taken its toll.

Amazing and you're beautiful!
Thank you ❤️
OMG! This is amazing! Lovedhow your edges were hidden. This is a must try! Thanks
I am going to have to order this stick and so excited to try it. Thank you for sharing your story with us.
Actually I thought your natural hair was beautiful without the ponytail. I understand you wanted a different look. Thanks so much for sharing. You gave us hope.
