The group currently consists of Rob Thomas (lead vocals, guitar, keyboards), Brian Yale (bass guitar), Paul Doucette (drums, rhythm guitar, backing vocals), and Kyle Cook (lead guitar, vocals)..

Rob Thomas is the lead singer and main songwriter of matchbox 20, and has had an awesome solo career as well..

I think this song is about generally feeling out of place in the world. We try to find relationships but if we don't fit, they feel phony. We don't want to be seen for what we have to pretend in the world. We can't get it back to good -- how it was before we lost our way. All of us.

Rob Thomas is one of my favorite lyricist from the 90s and now right behind Lennon/McCartney and Barry Gibb..

I think this songs about cheating. Rob Thomas is very talented. One of Matchbox Twenty's best is "If You're Gone"
Rob Thomas with Santana and the song "Smooth" is great (even better with the official video).

This song is about a romantic relationship that seems to have reached its end, much to the chagrin of the singer..

I think this song is about the habit of meaningless sex to try and get over deep loneliness and heartbreak -- "here" = "where I'm at."
Here's how I imagine the song:
A man's partner has broken up with him. He's heartbroken and depressed and has gone to a seedy place to escape the loneliness (maybe a club or a bar). He finds someone there -- someone he doesn't care about at all -- who wants to have sex with him and decides to sleep with them to take his mind off the person who has broken his heart. There are all kinds of people there but because of the type of place it is, he believes everyone there is also broken over someone/something. The next day (or afterwards) he's telling the person that just because he had sex with them it doesn't mean anything to him and to not assume they are "together" now. Despite the sex the emptiness doesn't go away and he finds that even in a room full of people we often cannot connect to another human being despite us all feeling the same loneliness.

Awesome reaction Laurie! I have always been a fan! Rob Thomas is the lead, and also has some great solo work. May I request Unwell or 3 am.
