The song was written about his wife who has struggled with auto immune disease and other health issues. Diamonds are hear tears...the video is so powerful, and will make the song make more sense.
Rob Thomas left the song open enough for people to apply their own experiences, but the song is about his wife having Systemic Lupus. Some of the lines that seem like metaphors aren't. Lupus flares up stronger at night, and often leads to no sleep. When the sun rises our bodies dump a hormone that in addition to what it normally does, eases the symptoms of Lupus. All that said, it certainly can represent a battle with depression. And on that note, I see you.
Can you react to "smooth" and "ever the same" by Rob Thomas audio version please.. The song "ever the same" was off of his first solo album and was another track about his wife..
You really need to react to "Bo Burnham: Can't handle this (Kanye rant)". It was filmed in 2016. It's both hilarious and sad because he is an extremely talented performer, but he had panic attacks on stage. This was his last performance until 2020. Do you live in Kentucky? You mention Jim Varney a lot and I myself am a huge fan. He's buried in the Lexington cemetery. I have been there once. It made me super sad. Such a genius.

My spouse has the same brutal diagnosis. This description of supporting someone with this disease is spot on. It has made me cry many times.
