Nikon Z9 in bad and snowy weather with 400 mm f/2.8. Birds of prey. WILDLIFE PHOTOGRAPHY.

Join us on a trip to an eagle hideout "Store Mosse" on a windy and snowy day in February. We were lucky and got to see at least 10 different eagles divided between five golden eagles and at least five white tailed eagles. It snowed so much that there was about 15 cm of snow and we were worried that the car would not be able to get out to the main road. Luckily it had driven a heavy vehicle just before we pulled out so we were able to drive in its tracks.
I only used my Nikon Z9 and it's absolutely fantastic even if the light isn't always the best and of course the bright and fast Nikon 400mm is also a contributing factor to the shooting being so good. My friend Lars got to experience something completely out of the ordinary and he was delighted.

In this hideout, you have to be in place one hour before sunrise and you may not leave until one hour after sunset.
It is a very well kept hide that is well worth a visit.

Hello Göran,wowww ....what a fantastic images and BBC Worthy. The snow gave an extra dimension to it and the light was very good to see the saturation of brown colors of the eagles

Tough to beat eagles in snow. The audio really helps with the footage as well. Nicely done.

beautiful photos and video again. you were so lucky with the birds within 30 meters and you were able to photograph the birds from a heated Hide . lucky man you are. the only thing missing was a servant 😂👍

Absolutely amazing photography and video footage! You mentioned you collect the food afterwards because of the foxes. Well ya know, they need food too! If I could make only one suggestion; your choice of music is reminiscent of something from the Middle East or Arabia and not of the Norse gods these eagles represent.

Hi Göran, really great pictures that you always show in your videos. I visited the National Park 3 years ago on vacation but did not see any eagle feeding at the time. Did the pictures from the public hiding place have been created or is it a hiding place that you can rent?

Göran, what wonderful images! I wonder if you can recall approximately how far away from the blind the White-tailed or Golden Eagles are beginning at around 6:00 minutes of the video. I am interested in this lens as I think it will help in the early morning and later evening hours as well as with jungle foliage when light/ contrast is low? Many are telling me I will not be happy with this focal distance. Did you also use a TC and if so, which one? Thank you for sharing your work.

I also have a 500mm and an 800mm, but the 400mm is the lens I use the most. Then I miss two steps because I often shoot through a mirror glass and therefore the 400 is the best for me.
