The thumbnail caught me off guard I spit out my coffee 😂😂
Great video yet again 👍. This show has always been about The Bad Batch finding purpose and... tbh this show is anti-war to the max. I'm so glad the show decided to have the whole rebellion thingy as a side plot and Hunter's not on board with it from the start, his sole purpose is to give his squad lives they deserve.

@@hobbricks_lego_man thanks ❤ oh and the clone rebellion thingy. Echo literally called it a 'small network of clones' most of them are within imperial ranks and their main goal during the time is to help their brothers who want to run away or in trouble because of the Empire not to defeat the empire. (They are not the Partisans, good lord💀)
And I don't think Rex being there in the finale will be a ... Clone rebellion? It's like 3 of them.
(I don't know if I'm wrong or not but he seems more respectful in his Ahsoka video. It's a legit criticism which you can agree or disagree with. But when it comes to TBB he seems biased)

@@silentvoice2776 Oh he's definitely biased against Bad Batch - in most videos he's far more charitable than he is in this one because he doesn't elaborate on anything he's saying here lol. And you're so right, most of Rex's clone network got wiped out halfway through the season, so if they called him in it would literally just be him, Gregor, and Howzer? Wow, what a huge amount of backup 😂

      @@hobbricks_lego_man (My reply glitched 😭)
EVEN IF they come flying in I'm sure they'll be shot down by a laser cannon to keep the stakes high! (Like "We're stuck here?" scene in Rogue one) Or Rex can summons a Rebellion fleet?? 😂
That too! And idk he doesn't use words like "nothingness, trash, stale, etc" in his Ahsoka video. He seems less aggressive. Myself, I enjoy Ahsoka because of the Kiners. Their score is the only reason I sit through the show. It's too good they can't keep doing this to me.
Like you, this show left us pondering about the themes, subtexts and stuff! (That's the fun part. I enjoy discussing it with my friends) I've never felt this enthusiastic about analysing something since Arcane and I'm not saying that Sheev should like the show cuz it's not everyone's cup of tea and I respect that but BRO EASY.
I love your take on Hunter and Crosshair. Especially Hunter! His subtle character development in my opinion did harm the audience because you have to think about it (I find it entertaining)
Oh by the way I don't know if you are on Twitter or not and I'm not sure if you've seen the kiners tweet about 'I am ready'. Anyway I'll leave it here just in case 😊

@@silentvoice2776 Totally agree with you, the score was the only thing about Ahsoka that I even remotely liked lol - and this show is by far the most fun I've had analyzing media in a while as well. I usually like Sheev's videos because they are objectively in-depth, applying reasonable logic and provably valid criticisms to the media in question (his Ahsoka or Clone Wars videos being great examples of this). This video just feels weird because he immediately admits to having little passion for the show and acts like making this video was an obligation he had, when it's like - no? You could've chosen not to make a video on the show you dislike, but instead you chose to make a 13 minute video claiming that you're correct and acting as if you are intellectually superior to the audience while failing to validate any of your points. As I said in the video - not a great look for the objectivity guy.
P.S. I don't have Twitter and had not idea about the Kiner's post - so thanks for sharing that with me!

Great response! TH-cam recommended Sheev's video to me, but I didn't watch it because I try to avoid Star Wars negativity, especially in regards to The Bad Batch because I feel like there have been so much unfounded hate for the show over the past three years lol. The issue I have with arguments like Sheev's is that they seem to be based on the show the person wanted rather than what the show was trying to do. Unfortunately I think a lot of people went into the show with expectations for a Clone Wars continuation and never realized that the show called "The Bad Batch" would be about the Bad Batch haha. Then (especially during the first season) they would complain that a show about the batch trying to "find their way in a rapidly changing galaxy" actually does explore how different members of the batch deal with change and find their own paths in a post-war galaxy. What makes this show so meaningful to me is that it focuses how the characters handle change and a world where they don't have to be soldiers anymore, and I hate that a lot of people overlook this theme (and the other themes) of the show because it wasn't what they personally wanted from it.
Also on your section about Crosshair's character not aligning with his Clone Wars characterization: I loved your analysis of his character and just wanted to say that what you said about how a core part of his character is that he takes things personally got me thinking. In the Clone Wars arc, a bit part of Crosshair's characterization is him taking things personally similarly to how he does in the Bad Batch. He cares only about the batch and doesn't give a shit about another clone (Echo) being a prisoner of war. He constantly antagonizes and starts fights the regs (iirc he does it much more than the other members of the batch), because he doesn't know/have a personal relationship with Rex, Jesse, Kix, and Echo. It's only after they rescue Echo and spend time fighting alongside him that makes Crosshair trust him and be willing to accept him into their very tight knit squad. So tbh through this lens I can kinda see this Crosshair also taking his brothers leaving him as an unforgivable and extremely personal betrayal that drastically changes where his loyalties lie (in the sense that the Empire replaces the batch in the #1 place of importance in Crosshair's life). Does The Clone Wars Crosshair seem like the type of guy to turn on his brothers for the Empire? In my opinion, still no, but like you said I also don't really care because The Clone Wars arc doesn't explore his character like The Bad Batch does, so I think it's reasonable to accept this slight incongruity in exchange for a more interesting and meaningful character. But anyways your analysis just made me think more about how The Clone Wars Crosshair might not be as different from The Bad Batch Crosshair as I had originally thought- at least when analyzing the "taking things personally" part of his character. Sorry for the long rant lmao. Love the video!

I appreciate your thoughtful and detailed comment! I agree that many people had false expectations of what this show was going to be, just because it has the same art-style and some characters carrying over from the Clone Wars didn't mean it would be the exact same story. I accepted from the beginning that it was going to be a spiritual continuation of the Clone Wars just from the POV of one particular group of characters, and I think I had a different experience with the show as a result of that. On a thematic level I think it did a great job of carrying on with the idea of free-will and the Clones' fight for individuality.
Tbh I hadn't thought that much about how Crosshair's Clone Wars characterization may or may not align with how he's presented in the Bad Batch, since I don't have a particularly vivid memory of that arc from season 7. There's no denying that he was the most cold and actively antagonistic of the Bad Batchers (which is most likely why the writers of BB chose for him to be the one who turns on the squad). They clearly didn't ignore every aspect of his characterization either, as many have pointed out, his line: "I would've left him for dead too. Besides, he's just another reg," comes full circle when he chooses to try and save Mayday in season 2. Something else important to note that I forgot to mention in the video, is the reason Crosshair's actions in the Bad Batch seem more severe than in Clone Wars is because in the war they were mostly fighting droids, but under the thumb of the Empire they are being ordered to kill living beings. The rest of the squad immediately recognize this to be morally wrong when they are sent to execute a camp of innocent civilians, but Crosshair tells them to "finish the mission." The conflict between Crosshair and the Batch didn't get heated until it crossed a moral line that he simply didn't draw - it's arguable that due to his cold and severely unyielding personality, he didn't see a difference between sniping pieces of metal and real breathing people, most likely due to the fact that he was engineered not to make that distinction. When we reframe his character that way, the conflict between Crosshair and the squad wasn't so much to do with them suddenly not "following orders" and instead that they made a moral distinction he was either unwilling or even incapable of making. Anyway, thank you for the kind words - I'm glad you enjoyed the video! Just wanted to add onto what you said with my own thoughts.

He sounds to me like just another one who never grasped why a show called 'The Bad Batch' is about... the Bad Batch, and not about, well, geopolitical developments. There's no shortage of those people for some reason.
And the Bad Batch was by far the best Star Wars content we've had in years.

I absolutely agree, Bad Batch is up there as some of the best Star Wars storytelling we've ever received (Imo at least). Don't get why everyone was expecting an overarching clone rebellion plot line when that was never the focus of the show. That's not to say that the show isn't good when dealing with politics - S2 Ep 7 & 8 are a prime example of this, but the series was always going to be primarily about the title characters.

  • @Killerbee4712

Sheev just reflects the lost hope many people had coming into the show, thinking that this would be a CONTINUATION of the clone wars, culminating in a clone rebellion, but I think the writers made the difficult decision in S3 to ditch the political clone world they explored in S2 for a more focused story on the main characters, whom had been criticized numerous times for lack of depth and focus. I think it was a hard choice either way, give what fans may WANT to see, but sideline their OWN characters, or make the story they really wanted to make, but sideline some "overarching plot" (Even though Tantiss arguably is more overarching than the Senate stuff)
I dislike the words "wasted potential". That always means "I didnt get the story I wanted". Its not critique on fair grounds

I just find it weird that he complains about this show not resolving the "clone rebellion" plot line while simultaneously acknowledging that it is clearly going to be continued in a future series, and then also says that he won't watch that show anyway because it's an ongoing story of "nothingness." He's just disproven his own point but proceeds to treat it as a criticism of this series despite knowing that wasn't the focus of the story.

Or if you put it on the TV while sitting in another room looking the other way with headphones on - that’s one of the only things I can think would lead to that interpretation of the show.

Gotta love Sheev making huge overarching statements with little to no evidence. I think there are things you can criticize about the Bad Batch, but most if not all of what he said was unsubstantiated garbage. Great job debunking and expressing your opinions that are actually backed up with evidence!

Thanks man! I agree the Bad Batch is not above criticism, but all his arguments in the video are extremely faulty. Like - if he wanted to criticize the 3rd season for having filler, why not bring up the random Fennec/Ventress subplot that literally went nowhere and contributed little to the story, instead of the penultimate three episodes which are some of the most important when it comes to plot progression.
