    Meridian are a 45 year old British company, very well regarded in the hi-fi world, with some speakers in their range costing tens of thousands. Kudos to them for getting this gig. Great video.

      I think other manufacturers in Europe and elsewhere will be left behind in terms of design, tech and performance. China is producing great cars and with different manufacturers. They will probably win the price war too.

      I mean the reliability isn’t there with Chinese cars, but people buy Hyundai/Kia for offering more features for the money regardless of reliability. So there technically isn’t any excuse for North America to not get well-equipped cars like this.

    Rear is not very good if it is raining. The lift door in the roof would cause the seats to get wet, especially in downpours. The B pillar also gives a blind spot. The three seat movement to access the back would mean the driver would probably need to exit the car for the person to enter the third row. The electric doors could be an issue, too. If the car is too close to another car, would the car restrict opening? Also, in an accident, could the electric door restrict a person's exit?

    • @InsideChinaAuto
      @InsideChinaAuto  ปีที่แล้ว +4

      The good news is you are able to open the doors without opening the roof part so it can still operate in the traditional way. Would be curious to know if it automatically detects rain in that instance. For the 3rd row entrance, only the second row seat moves so the driver doesn't have to get out.
      The doors have sensors to avoid them hitting another car but you can push them further open as needed with your hand. Also there are physical handles buried in the door pockets in case an accident stops them opening electrically, so it should be fine. Will check that rain thing though.

    • @InsideChinaAuto
      @InsideChinaAuto  ปีที่แล้ว +9

      Confirmed by HiPhi, there are sensors that stop the gullwing doors opening when it's raining.

      @@InsideChinaAuto I guess they did take those things into consideration, like the complicated design suggests they should have. It's just a shame that I don't see the fun in having such a great car if you live in any Chinese major cities. I came from a "small" one with just 7 million residents, but the traffic often gets so bad despite some 10 lane roads because everyone drives a car just because they can afford one. Often I got to places faster on my bike than in a car within a 10 km radius.

    Frameless windows - not the way to go - future wind noise and leaks are inevitable. This is a complicated car for a first effort. Cars are a major purchase for 99% of buyers. It will be interesting to see if fear of "Chinese quality" is an issue in Europe.

    • @InsideChinaAuto
      @InsideChinaAuto  ปีที่แล้ว +5

      It is. To be fair, their team is made up of experts from across industries but it's a hugely ambitious first car, and a hugely impressive one too. As for Europe, I do think it will take some time yet before Europeans trust a Chinese luxury car over their own, more mainstream cars won't have as much of an issue, but given time I'm certain they'll earn a space because they learn and advance very quickly here. It's relentless.

    • @kebabaluba
      @kebabaluba ปีที่แล้ว

      Maybe over time yes, but until a car gets old enough the issue with wind and leaks are pretty slim. There are a lot of cars past and present that rocked frameless windows, whole Tesla lineup are frameless.

    most ev'S are very expensive and if i was a rich man i would not buy one, I would purchase an exciting gas car anytime. so who is buying them ? Many cant hardly afford them, once they realise that insurance will cost 4-5000 dollars , and they cant even park it in their garage because your house insurance will be cancelled because of fire risk. And if you charge at home your charger has to be outside and if you use a fast chrger on trips you will find that it will cost you as much as you filled a gas car but you will be waiting on average hours for a place to charge . The depreciation is extremely costly twice the rate of gas cars. Battery degradation is a problem for resale .many electronic problems. Tires will become no good in half the time compared to ggas car tires because of the great acceleration and the 3000 poung battery. you cant leave it at the airport for a week or 2 week because when you come back your 12volt battery will be dead and the doors wont open and the car wont start.
