To any Mojangster wathing this video: Please don't fix this. In order to make this work in 1.20.2 you literally need to perform out of memory (OOM) suppression which is so complicated that so far only a single technical server managed to do this, and it's been months since it released. Those explits literally don't affect anyone but our community. Nobody except for us will ever consider making OOM setup to get the shadow items. This is not like the rail based suppressors where any idiot could build one and get a shadow item. No. OOM is unbelievably complex, and requires admin feedback to tune the setup for the server hardware. Fixing this way of item shadowing will not do any extra good for the game, it will not prevent the general community from abusing it, **because they can't get OOM anyway**

Also, you would use a good amount of rails to fill the stack and them cause a update surpression, so I dont know what you are talking about.

@@the_stray_cat No, he mentioned you need and OOM supressor if you want to do it in the newest version, which is almost impossible to build. I think you underestimate the true scale of one of those. The shulker supressor he used in the video no longer works in the newest version

If it isn't caught the server should crash. Doesn't that imply that Minecraft uses a try catch all somewhere (i.e. catching all exceptions), even though that is **considered bad practice precisely because it can lead to catching exceptions you did not intend to catch**, like out of memory exceptions or things like SIGTERM? I assume there is no issue with the OOM-Killer or other OS-side memory limitations because we hit the max memory size allowed via JRE arguments. I'm mainly asking because I want to understand if they really used a try catch all or if it is caused by something more complex, potentially due to how the JVM itself works (tbh, I'm pretty sure the cause is a try catch all exceptions block). Random side-thought: Unless OOM based update suppression relies on something even more complicated like causing an OOM, the JVM (e.g. the garbage collector) or Minecraft intentionally catching it, freeing some other memory to make space for the new allocation and due to some other bug having an effect even though the released memory should've been unused. If that is the case: How the hell did you find something like that?
They need to catch stuff for making reports about the crash, and they also dismiss them if they are on the packet thread since malformed packets could crash the server if it din't dismiss them
I wonder if by using a gold pressure plate some sort of remote control can be made out of the shadow stack. Edit: Sadly, gold pressure plates aren't able to measure the number of items in an item entity. There is perhaps a way to make the shadow stack remotely disappear making a one time trigger but if there is one I don't know it.

Is it theoretically possible to use the stack on the ground (that can't be picked up apparently?) to make a remote ender pearl stasis activator by throwing one of the items in your own inventory and using a CUD to detect the update in a chest where the linked stack is?
I wonder if the item “disappears” because there’s no texture for more than 64 items. Like when you drop 1 item on the ground, 2 items, and a stack you can tell the difference because they have different models. Just no model for >64?
The mouse movements when you talk in first person are quite distracting. It would be better to view when you move the camera less, and just point/look when something is needed in frame.

You said that hopper break the shadow stack but if you use hopper with a filter with overflow protection, would still break? since it cannot pick up the entire stack, only a portion i imagine it wouldn't break it
knowing how it works, the mojangs will have to work hard to remove it, because it depends on the OOM of Minecraft. Yes, and Minecraft will get even worse if they fix it, they will mess up a lot of other things. :/

Item stacks always count as 1 entity to a weighted pressure plate, so unfortunately no unless these shadow stacks somehow work completely different.

It's just teleporting, the chest and hopper setup he put the stack in his inventory into just constantly refills the stack.

Why cant you have one in a chest and one in your inventory? why does it only work if one is an floor item?
When creating the shadowstack one of the stacks land on the ground. They simply turn into normal items if picked up.
