In the SBS (Q&A) section of the manga, a reader mentioned that the things on Klahadore's coat looked like poop, and asked what it was meant to be. Oda's only response was: "It is poop."
We all know the real reason that Jay got teary eyed at Luffy's speech. It's because Luffy mentioned that a ship is also a home. And if there's one thing we know about Jay, it's that he's a sucker for when a team gets their home base! Oh boy, if Jay is teary eyed here; I can't wait to see how he reacts to the rest of the season!
Also considered one of the best strategy games ever invented, much better and more complex than chess. Basically, it's the shorthand for, these people are very smart and good at strategy. It's a plot point in Knives Out too.
The one "simple" rule - if you can surround your opponent's piece on all four sides you "capture" it off the board and get points for both your captured pieces and empty places that your color surrounds
And tying it into another series that they've watched, they also play the game in Wheel of Time, though they call it Stones. You can see a stones board in several scenes, including one in which Logain is playing with himself. I think he even offers to play Lan but then dismisses him saying it's a game for kings not peasants.
The oldest found records and parts are around 2500 years old. The game is thought to be around 4000 - 4500 years old. The real age we might never know, it will be somewhere in between those two dates.
So fun fact, this series was filmed ihn Cape Town, South Africa and a lot of my friends worked on set and in costume fabrication. You could see the ships from the highway!
"are there animal people? Is his whole crew animal people?" You guys have NO idea what's in store in the Grand Line. The manga does a much better job of connecting Usopp's lying to the death of his mother. His "Pirates are coming!" was a way to rouse his mother out of her death bed so she'd feel better knowing his dad came back. He kept doing it thru his childhood in a way to remember her and hopefully his father would return. That story gets really short-changed in this live-action version, and doesn't connect as well as it does originally. Also Usopp in Japanese means "I'm a liar" in addition to being a play on Aesopp.
Hikaru no Go is great. The hype might be partly because I was much younger when I watched it, but it's one of those where you tell yourself, "Wow. Anime really can make *anything* intense, can it?" Because I remember it as one of my favourite watches ever, and I *still* don't understand the rules!
Yeah, the idea of the game is to surround the enemy pieces with your pieces, then you gain all the territory inside. For example, if you can complete a square of white pieces around the black pieces of your opponent, you 'eat' all the black pieces and that territory inside becomes your and no one can put pieces inside it anymore. So the game is about dominating the board and controlling more territory at the end. It's extremely complex to an ungodly degree, like dozens of levels above chess in possibilities. Really hard game. There is a documentary about the last win of a human against the computer programs, and the human champion played a move, later called 'hand of God' that fried the computer basically. It was like a real life anime.
@@TabbyQ.9563 I feel like this may be a indicator abt how much anime has grown in the mainstream culture. 5:18 Actually, the bounty posters are more of a measure of notoriety than of power level. They measure how much of a threat a particular individual is to the World Government. There are characters who are pretty weak but have really high bounties & vice versa, like a cotton candy lover you’ll encounter in a later season who is pretty strong but has a comically low bounty that he constantly gets frustrated by.
You are correct, but it also IS sort of the power structure of the series. It's not perfect (and intentionally is not), similar to how in Dragon Ball it's possible to change your power level, notoriety can also play a part in higher or lower bounties. But it is a fair general power structure for the series.
Actually, the game Garp and Coby are playingis called Go. Also, fun fact, Morgan's safe contained a rolled up wanted poster of Kuro. If the Straw Hats had looked at it at all, at least Nami or Zoro would have noticed right away.
The poop jacket is strangely enough intended that literally is his design, the actor did really well for the role of Kuro of a Thousand Plans, whose bounty poster we saw in the last episode inside Morgan's chest. But the speed is not a Devil Fruit, he's just fast, it's called the 'Pussyfoot' technique because cat-themed Also Bounties are more Threat Level than power scaling, they go hand in hand a lot of the time but as you may've noticed, Luffy being the menace to society he is has already ran through a lot of alleged threats. The outfits the crew wear are all based off the manga too, most variations come from cover pages.
It's a fantastic show and Luffy... and his actor.. there are roles that once one actor plays - no one else could ever really pull off. Like RDJ as Iron Man for example. We're not let in on whether humans in Oda's weird imaginative world are naturally just *more* varied as their baseline genetics, and thus able to have horns, animal features, be eight feet tall and have plants growing on their heads without external factors enterting the gene pool, or whether it is the presence of the other tribes and the absolutely inevitable interbreeding that would have happened over thousands of years that caused humans to become more weird.

He could be part mink
@@chriszorander9333 I wouldn't be surprised if the genetic lines between the various One Piece species are already very blurred - Big Mom at least is proof enough that being possible, and there are numerous humans in One Piece who are unrelated to her and stray well outside the normal RL range of physical features.
Usopp mightve lied but the villagers should be able to tell the difference between everyday Usopp lie and actual distress imo
Jay's gonna have a BAJA blast with the rest of the season 🤣🤣
Yeah, pretty sure ep 3 is pretty much considered the weakest of the series so if he's 4/4 there he's going to love every episode for sure.
@@Kanriel exactly, cant wait for episode 5 and 6 🤣🤣
Do you guys ever do reactions to full movies on like a diff channel or something? Would be so fun. I’m especially interested in reaction to wonka
You're right, Jay, they could use a cook.
16:10 Vincent Regan sounds soo much like Billy Connelly in this. And he’s not even scottish.
I love seeing his live for Luffy!!!!
So many puns 😂
20:52 Specifically saw-shark.
The anime actually called one of the episodes The boy who cried pirate if I remember correctly
The live action never shy’s away from just being itself. That’s the reason I’m not into one piece because the charm of this show grabbed me and never let me go.
3:39 poor Shirahoshi
Jay, us fans says the live adaptation is good enough and does the show justice, do you know what that means? it means the manga and anime is even BETTER! :D
If these guys only knew how much pain they're going to go through because of that damn ship. lol
You got me at "whell whell whell " 😂
With all the comments about it saying marine on their hats. Us army, navy, marines, airforce, all say their branch in their hat and on their chest. It's on the back of the hat usually, but it's still there ARMY on their chest and hat.
"I wanna be just like Luffy!"
Me *Walks on table*
My mom "GET OFF THE FUCKING TABLE!" *throws a shoe at me*
Oh man. I laughed way too hard on the Windex joke.
Ok, I LOVE Adam's shirt
I don't think Yassop so much abandoned Ussop and his mother - I think she knew he wanted to go to see so she encouraged him to go with Shanks. Still don't get why he couldn't have taken them with him. Or dropped in to see if they were alive every few years if the Red haired pirates were ever in the area.
The board game is "Go"🖖😎👍
Poseidon!!!!!!!!!! 😂😂😂😂😂 I lost it! 🤣💩🧜🏻♂️
Hear me out: Vincent Regan as Baylan Skoll.
Bucky ate a devil fruit
Great reactions ❤
