Funny, my construction friend was telling me about you. I am 72 and love my yard. I have worked on it for 12 years. I am no where close to your excellence. We were laughing because I just ordered my lawn sprinkler system. It will be installed in 2 weeks. This will be a game change for me. I am obsessed with my lawn. It makes me happy!! Thanks for sharing
Always good to see a video of yours come up in my notifications. Someone said this in the comments to your previous video but it's worth repeating: I like that you're not pushing product on us, amigo. What ever happened to simple lawn care videos where folks just offered lawncare tips? 🤷🏽♂️
@@lawnrebel Yea I looked up the pinelands pam, pretty cool in full bloom. Thought it was just a long running joke with the names but yea I see now that there's literally endless flower names. I love that I can see years of progress in a few hours, thank you for making these videos they really are interesting to watch, can't wait to see the continuation of the 2022 season.
They keep sand moist because most applications of it need to be immediately compacted for various construction purposes. Plus if they drove down the road with dry sand, you'd pay for 15 tonnes, and have 2 tonnes blow away out the back before it got to you! All that said, I was still waiting to see one of those slabs just pop in two. Tehee!
I agree with everything you say in your video, especially since it is your lawn! One awesome compliment is using the type of aerator you used, it is chain driven (I believe) but has much more of the effect of hydrolic pressure. If your rental place has maybe a toro stand on available for rent, or since you are so loyal about your toro equipment maybe they should send you a shout out and send a rep with one to use for the day. Crank that pressure up and go deep (at least it would likely go deeper than Allyn, that is what she said). Time is always a concern for all, but aerate in two to three directions. The % of surface you are removing is so small that those who try to say don't remove the cores are idiots, plus about half of the total is organic material, the nitrogen you have used is absorbed much deeper than at about 1/4 inch (only Ryan has absorption problems in the 1/4 inch or shallower range, that is also what she said). Only thing I would do differently is aerate deeper and multiple times... if putting in the effort and especially following it up with the topdressing, aerify in three directions at least and if possible with hydrolic pressure twice a deep. It is a shame you cant find a topdresser in your area from a rental.
It is a reciprocator. The Billy goat models have a choice of two solid and two hollow tines. It will aerate hot asphalt roads if you let it. The Toros and other don't allow you to choose tine type or diameter.
@@wayneessar7489 at no time is he using a solid tine.... solid tine, or pencil tines should only be used in sports turf applicatoins with a PAT substructure or a USGA spec green, tee, or fairway. Homeowner application of solid tine is useless.
@@andrewkirwan517 I am guessing that your information comes from reading advertising about machines and from companies that don't offer needle or solid tines as an option. Or perhaps your area is not on sandy soil because Sir you are incorrect. Solid or shatter tines are an excellent fall choice in warmer winter areas as they aid drainage without surface disturbance. Mr. Ward is seeking to remove organic matter so of course he will hollow core. Please come and see how we use them here, if your allowed to travel outside your borders at some time.
I can travel anywhere I would like sir. I don't read advertising about machines. I have a masters degree in sports turf management and have done grow in an opening of 14 different golf resorts (total of 17 courses in those 14 resorts) in 13 different countries.
That same thing happened to me the last time I sharpened my blade. I was yanking that cord like it was a Kenner SSP race car. Just as I began having a conniption fit, I realized it was because YOU told me to disconnect the Ryan Knorr wire before taking the blade off.
Decided to hire out aeration this year after the ordeal that was renting one from a big box store last year. Loading one of those things into the SUV = not fun.
Nice work. Its nice that sister ward gets involved. There is no way my wife would use an aerator or, as in previous vids, operate a chainsaw! Fair play to her. That new seed is coming in good too 👌🏻
Damn it Connor, you're taking away our fun by saying what we are going to leave in the comments! But in all seriousness, golf courses collect their plugs too. At least on the greens and tee boxes.
Hey Connor, just watched your how to make a lawn drag video. Just a thought if you drilled the holes where you attach the rope right to the front I reckon that that might solve the problem of it flipping over.
Another Quality video, new seeded area is looking good! i just raised 2 heads with that same 3/4 M/F adapter surprised they don't sell them at my local big box store
I think Doc said it best. You get rid of the cores because the goal is to loosen up the soil and if you leave the cores you're just putting them back in place over time and causing the ground to be compact again. #SuperJuice
Will the core aerator damage sprinkler heads on a lawn that has irrigation? Do you have to steer clear of them? Wondering and thanks for sharing another great video....
yes it will damage the heads. I normally run the system the day before aeration to mark each head. it provides enough water to help the aeration without causing a muddy mess.
We built our home in the country that was on pasture grass. We now have a Bluegrass lawn but I always think when I aerate am I bringing up tons of old clump fescue seeds to the surface? Am I doing more harm than good?
Hey Connor, question about your sprinkler system, are you on Well Water? If so the water you use in the system, has it gone through a iron breaker or water softener? I wanna install a sprinkler setup on 3 acres but not sure if I should run it through iron breaker and water softener... would that be ok in the lawn? Right now I run it through a iron breaker but the water is so hard that my sprinklers are rusting after 2 months of use or less. Keep up the good work!
Dude! I have a GM 1000 and I just put a new reel on it. I'm cutting at 1" HOC but it doesn't cut all the blades. I go over two or three time and still doesn't get all the blades. I swapped the reel out from 14 blade to 8 blade. Cut's paper easy so reel to bed knife seems to be on par. Grass is KBG. What am I missing?
Do you ever get tired of redoing the lawn with sand every year? I moved into a new house 3 years ago so I've done my third renovation in a row. I'm trying to level and overtake the lawn with this good seed. I really hope I don't have to do this next year. Don't you ever think about taking a year off doing it?
The sand doesn't look too wet, but looks a bit more like 6 or 8 worth?? Perhaps mine are different here. That lawn is going to be so level and happy in a few weeks
Connor got my first Lookie Loo the other day, I think I’ll need to buy one of your super large Lawn Rebel shirts so I can start telling the Wife of all the Lookie Loo’s! Please tell me you got shirts for the Fluffy viewers.
Can never tell if you're just making up the names of the flowers (boogie nights) or those are the actual names. Neither would surprise me and that's why I love this non "how-to" channel. 😁
Connor Ward dang, I don’t have a country square mile for a yard like you do, so I guess I’ll just have to live with it. Btw, scalping the lawn in a month or so then over-seeding with a cool season Triple Duty Mix from Mountain View Seeds. Great company & even greater people.

Thank you good sir
I’m convinced that you are just making up the names for dahlias now...
You did it! The grass is growing.
just did some sprinkler repair today...of course wearing the lawn rebel shirt for +30 patience! Keep being awesome Connor!
Favorite grass guy on youstubes hands down
Thank you good sir
He’s my third or forth ,probably.
Connor is in to core business! Keep it up, love from Sweden.

Make lawns fun again. Connor is The best at doing that!
I measure everything and watch Connor “meh” his way to a better looking lawn
The best Canadian accent on TH-cam 🔥💯 o and the lawn is 🔥🔥🔥 too
Heck yeah. Love this time of year on your lawn.. aerate and sand.
Has anyone else watched Connor's old leveling videos in anticipation for the next video?
Me too
It’s all looking great and the new seed. Hiring a core aerator this weekend can’t wait to see the results. Thanks for the how to videos
The dahlia's are looking great! For some reason I never have any luck with them and will just have to enjoy them through your videos.
Love it! I am looking forward every day to the next video! ☺️☺️
Rebel your a legend
Now this is an art! 🤩
Love your videos! Keep up the good work. All the way from Scotland 🏴👍🏻
I've watched a bunch of these videos now and love all of them. Still not sure if any of these flower names are real or not lol.
They are real. There are hundreds and hundreds of varieties of dahlias. Sooo many different names

Love your content and you are.a funny guy too. Keep it coming. Great info that is very helpful!
Don't care too much about other people, do it your way, that's the only right way. 👌
I used a baseball field chain mat drag to break up my cores. Worked perfect. It's like a very thin top dressing with nutrients.
You tell em brotha, you pick up the cores because you're the Lawn Rebel!
Loved the vid as usual, keep em coming you big safety sally.
Core, pick up cores, sand, micros and water. Good job.
Amazing Dahlias lawns looks good, from a LookieLou London.
I laughed so hard when he realized the key wasn’t turned. Lol
Same LMFAO 🤣🤣🤣
Dollar spots if cores are left and ran over
He's good at forgetting that.
He didn’t see that big battery 🔋 on the back and the key 🔑 😂😂😂😂
I don't blame you. I clean up my cores as well. Keep doing things your way. It works for you brother.

I want to see how this fight ends
I dig the hat!
Look at that safety sally aerating and mowing. Good thing Sister Ward was there to show you how to do things properly.
yeah no kidding
Making the right move Connor! Get ride of the cores and fill the holes with sand you will have a much better foundation!

Your aerating about as fast @ryanknorrlawn mows his grass 😁 Slow and Easy always wins the race. Aerating is some good stuff! 👍👍
Agree
nice looking cores!
Decided to hire out aeration this year after the ordeal that was renting one from a big box store last year. Loading one of those things into the SUV = not fun.
Rent a trailer next time. Also, find a different place to rent.
You see that !!! First turn of the key folks !!!
You tell em Connor.. I pick up the cores too..

1:48 me every time i use the weedeater
I have a tool for extracting the extensions. It is a toothed taper with a T handle that you wedge into the extensions and twist it out.
Ok, next time I do core aeration, I am renting one of those! The last one I used about killed me!
Another Quality video, new seeded area is looking good! i just raised 2 heads with that same 3/4 M/F adapter surprised they don't sell them at my local big box store
Good stuff
Lol! Connor! YOU ARE A LEGEND , anyway, I’m with you on the aerator front, what’s with the key? 🤷♀️

What brand / company did you get your white fence from? I like how it slants towards the front.
How do you stake up those dahlias? Do they hold each other up if you plant them close? They look great!
Seed is coming in nicely! Where would you recommend one purchase a used greensmaster in Utah? Thanks!
Those gorilla carts ARE awesome!
Punching straight down was my nickname in college 🙃

Ive done that with my blower that day had been long it ended pulling on a blower for 30 minutes until i flipped the switch
nice aeration vid. BTW, SHOW US THE FOOD FROM THE LAST VIDEO!!!!
Hello Mr Rebel. Do you aerate before fall? Thanks!

Doing exactly what you should be doing with those cores, dont listen to all the knuckleheads about leaving them there
What sprinkler heads do you use Connor?
When you're doing stuff like coring, how do you avoid damage to the sprinklers heads?
mark them with paint or.... be careful. I pretty well know where they are.
He says and I quote “you wanna pack your mud in there”!
Exactly it's your lawn you an mrs lawn rebel decide not TH-cam subs thanks for another great video now I want to aerate lol
I could feel the pain of pulling that cord so many times!
Such a pain. Who puts an electric start on an aerator?
I was telling at my phone...turn it on Connor!
Connor...packing his mud. :-)

Looks like a lot of work! Your son should be about old enough now to help out haha
Wow your garden is so nice, looking great this summer but next summer your lawn once it’s filled in is going to be 12 out of 10😁
I need to do this for my lawn. Heavy red clay. I would absolutely be collecting the cores. I want as less clay as possible.
You do know a lot of golf courses just mow those cores with reel mowers and boom all done
where do you get all those great dahlias from Connor?
So when are you getting a ProCore for the lawn? In all seriousness, Do you ever verticut?
Come to think of it, You could verticut after pulling cores so they break up. Or let them dry and go over them with a rotary.
What is that short green shrub along the back of the house by the porch behind the dahlias? Is that a row of boxwoods?
lodense privet
Love love Love...the low key....FU at very end of Video Middle Finger on Point lol
Ha ha. This was un intended
Keys are they "key" to most problems
Yeah no kidding
First Aussie 😁. Core Er Down. 😎👍👍
Did you ever get your shovel back?
Can those dahlias grow in hawaii?
Jeez, that's the biggest one they have? That must have taken a few days to do!
Make sure you walk to the side like that clown Doc! Playing with his new aerator is the only work I've seen him do all season.
This really felt like a "How to" video. 😂
Nice and level. Gorgeous. Lol maybe needs another pull....lol 😂💛🌱💯👍
Oh yeah.. It needs like 29 more leveling jobs
Can you rent a stand on aerator like what ExMark has??
And I thought the names of Corals in the Saltwater hobby were crazy.
Awesome 👍
Usually when I do one of those simple head swaps I end up with 3x as many tools deployed and the time has also tripled because of all the unforeseens.
@Connor, how do you keep your trampoline from leaving lines in your lawn. Other than moving it it a round weekly, I was curious what you do.
You can't stop that. I try to put it the back section where I don't have lawn

You should have edited in cracking noises when the truck pulled up 😂
Connor, you magnificent beast!
Are those dahlias staked? Mine droop over, if not staked, once they approach 3 feet. Those 5 footers were standing proud.
yes I stake them
beautiful dahlias! you planning on selling bulbs?
