    Thanks for posting. I was a Guard from 1980 to 1990. For the first 5 years I was at the ERD in Batman avenue and used to run trains all the way to Willy Pier as well as Port Melbourne and St Kilda. Transferred out to Ringwood after that. The network has certainly changed. It's a much better service now.

      You're welcome. Guards were still on the trains when I first transferred to the sparks. The network has certainly changed over the years. Glad you enjoyed the ride 👍 😀

    Since the last time I saw a driver's view of Williamstown line, North Williamstown is now been lowered and no level crossing.Thanks for sharing.

    Thank you Driver667, you have brought so many amazing Driver's view videos to us, keep up the excellent work, you make them, we'll watch them............😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁 P.S. Can you tell me what that third rail is in the middle of the Flinders Street Viaduct, there is much debate about it, is it a rail to help prevent derailed carriages from going over the edge or rail that has been left over or rail that might be replacing existing rail, can you please let us know?

    • @driver667
      @driver667  11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      That rail is to help stop a derailed train going over the edge. Very happy to hear you enjoy the videos 👍😊

    I noticed some of the Williamstown stations didn't have signals at the start of the platform to advise the driver what to do. Does the driver just proceed or they are advised by some other means?

    • @driver667
      @driver667  7 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      The driver stops at stations and departs when everyone is clear of the train. The signals do not tell the driver anything about passengers at the platform. The signals let the driver know of the condition of the track ahead. 👍😀

      I think I didn't explain it clearly sorry mate. At North Williamstown and Williamstown beach station, heading to Williamstown, I noticed at the start of the platform there are no signals . Once the driver is ready to depart, usually the driver receives a green over red or red/green signal but since there are none, does the driver automatically just depart or are they advised through other means to proceed or not?

    • @driver667
      @driver667  7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      No one tells the driver when to go. It's up to the driver to decide when it is safe and time to depart. The signals have nothing to do with that process. The signals tell the driver of the condition of the track ahead and whether it is safe to continue along the track or not. Eg... If it is clear for a train to travel along the track then the signals will be green, regardless of if the train is stopping at the platform or express. The signalman has the ability to set the system for an express train or a stopper. If set for a stopper then the signal will stay red until the train has been at the platform for a short time. This is just so level crossings are not closed to traffic for a longer time. I think this might be what you have seen. 👍😀
