    The most depressing place I ever worked at. Amazon fullfillment center. 10 hours of non-stop movement. 12 hour shifts around Christmas time. I received write ups for every small issue. 6 errors out of 3000. etc... With a write up, you are restricted from changing jobs. Write ups last a month. Once I was off of one write up, I got another. Very sad place to work. Glad I have since moved on.

      I TOTALLY agree with you:
      A-S-O-L-U-T-E-L-Y
      no,
      zero,
      reason to work more than 8 hours a shift.
      It felt dangerous.
      And then...,
      They told me my percentages were too low after I put my time, energy, heart and soul into becoming the best stower. I really work hard at every job I do; and they pretend you suck. (...IN THE FIRST WEEK.)

      If that were possible, yes; but it isn't.
      THEY give you the hours you WILL work.
      And, they change them each week.
      One schedule had me working 12 hours and then had me back after 10 hours to work another 12.
      And it was hard to go to sleep in that space of time, even "dog-dead" tired, with the knowledge of another loud, isolating, unappreciated 12 hours of "don't make one mistake as you go as fast as you can" a day LOOMS over you..., Quantity/Quality...,
      You lie in bed and DWELL on your Life/Future..., aughhh...!
      YEAH...!
      I would have stayed,
      IF I could have worked 4/10 in a row with three day off, or 5/8 in a row with two days off; or even 3/12 in a row with four days off;
      the SAME every week.
      But, they don't let you.
      It's NOT a Life;
      it's a Zombie-bot existence.

    I think people miss that concept when they think of self-checkouts and robots. You’re not destroying jobs, you’re creating them. Someone needs to build them, someone has to program them, someone has to ship them, someone has to maintain them.

    • @jhenmoran2
      @jhenmoran2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      So what? That's still a net loss of 99% of the jobs that were eliminated, even with the highly specialized jobs it creates. And that's assuming there's enough qualified people to open those new positions, which is unlikely.

      @@pulsatingsausageboy2076the only reason why the turnover rate is so high is due to how extremely easy it is to get a job there.

      Amazon Robotics for picking and stowing is no where near matched with humans at the moment. If you watch those videos of robots stowing and picking items you will see that 1) The task are fairly simple. 2) The bins are not nearly as full as they are in actual warehouses. 3) The process is EXTREMELY slow in comparison.

  • @ilov3ohio2002

    Dang those pods at the Nursey are so empty would be nice when stowing. About 9/10 times these robots will bring you pods that are stuffed with products and you can not place your items onto the pods. Then management gets mad about your UPF (units per face) and you get written up and then terminated.

    This economy moves quick. We have been replacing the low skilled jobs at a tremendous rate.
    It’s been going on since what the Great Depression and hasn’t stopped since.
    What happen to the cashier heavy grocery store? Replaced by self checkout. It’s only a matter of time until your industry replaces you. Unless of course you’re the owner of your own business. • @rem45acp
      @rem45acp 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      True

    • @Jay_Force_One
      @Jay_Force_One ปีที่แล้ว

      This would be true if your scale was not off. Amazon never had 10,000 employees on the floor moving merchandise. They would need much more than that to move that kind of volume they have. It was never possible from the start. These Robots took over what 5-10 pickers did through the use of a conveyer system…..but they do WAY more volume. So you lost 20-30 jobs per warehouse.
      HOWEVER, it takes thousands of people to maintain these robots. People need to construct and maintain their facility, you need the people that build them, you need the support personnel, you need management, you need part distributors, you need freight, you need developers, programmers, technicians. List goes on and on.
      For example, how many cashier really lost their jobs over the self-checkout? You had what, maybe 6-7 cashiers on the floor at once in a grocery store? They move 4-5 of them to different positions and install self-checkouts. Which also need to be developed, programmed, built, maintained, etc. You didn’t lose any jobs in this circumstance.

    It depends on your world view. Some believe you shouldn't be paying people for basic tasks. Some believe we should keep as many people employed. It may not help the lower-skilled worker of today, but hopefully they will encourage future generations to increase their skills. I know it's not easy as 1-2-3 and many factors such as poverty come into play. But we all know many people who were smart enough to encourage their kids to do something else (don't follow in my parents' footsteps) because their industry or skill had a bleak future. Just odd to encourage your kids to go into an industry or gain a skill that will become obsolete. As the video states, many examples in the past to draw upon. Be proactive, think ahead, and take control - hoping and praying will not help a dying industry or skill come back to life.

    UBI will be a necessity going forward, there's no other way around it. It's a good thing, as people will no longer have to spend their time with menial labor, but they can enjoy their time as they choose. Either that or mass poverty.

    These robots are a direct result of minimum wage. The awful idea of UBI only makes MORE automation.

      Robots don't do that yet at amazon (at least I don't think) it's still humans that package everything.

    • @bryong159
      @bryong159 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      There's not supposed to be any order. Stowers are tasked with just shoving an item into any free hole they see, the computers keep track of everything and know where everything is. it's a lot more efficient for what amazon does (random knick knack things people want).

    YESTERDAY YOU SAID TODAY AND TODAY YOU SAID TOMORROW.
    WHEN YOU BECOME SO AFRAID TO INVEST INTO YOUR FUTURE, WEALTH BECOMES SO AFRAID OF REACHING YOU
    MOST POOR PEOPLE ARE THE ONES WHO CLAIM TO BE TOO WISE TO INVEST INTO A PLATFORM THAT WORKS FOR OTHERS.FOREX IS ACTUALLY THE BEST THING TO THINK ABOUT

      Chinese tech is old American tech, seeing as how much intellectual property they steal and how the Chinese government had to block American companies from China so their domestic companies could grow.

    It is wild that they implemented robots to yield employee injuries and inconsistent production, yet after the robots being put into work their injuries actually went up is what is being reported.
