Nice
Yes! Eventually!

I was at my local Walmart today and saw a ton of them.
I would understand $60-65 since it is a very good design for the camera and the photos , but it's nowhere near worth $80
Then buy it after a month.. why would you buy lego day 1 in the first place?
😂 it is completely worth every penny of 80$. Do you have a job?
@@JT-np1opnot everyone is able to buy a 80$ set, I'm in latam and the minimum pay at month it's 339$ including the shipping to my country the set would probably cost the half of a month of work and it would be a month without eating TT
@@EshapRacoon im sorry you can’t afford this, that is a shame truly and sincerely. Wait some time and it will reduce in price, until it becomes a collectors item.
@@JT-np1op it’s not always a question of whether people have a job, it’s a question of value.
It’s way more practical to put $80 into my 401(k). It’s definitely more practical to buy this at 20% off after a little bit or wait for a great GWP… then put the difference into my 401(k).
The reason this set will prob. be huge popular is that photography is such a big hobby. Considering the arts sets selling well, it just feel right to have a camera somewhere too. Great Review!
It's kind of telling how high the prices have become when you can buy an actual, functioning, modern Polaroid Go camera for the same price as this set (currently discounted to $80 in the US store)
The go cameras aren't very good, get a one-step instead. -if anyone wants to spend a fortune on Polaroid film.
This was a comment about the Atari 2600 set as well :)
@@th1649 you're right, I was mostly just matching to find a camera with an $80 price tag. Still, not accounting for the used market, you can get a "full" modern Polaroid that'll use regular film for $100
Yes
Although you can't take a real camera (or Atari) apart and make it into something else!
One of my favorite TH-camrs reviewing my set? Awesome! Excellent review as always Tiago. It was so much fun being a part of the process and seeing you enjoy the build as much as you did. I also do wish the price was much lower, but I'm sure it will be discounted soon enough. Really bummed about that peeling sticker too!
Wow you made this set? That’s super cool!
One of the most realistic Lego sets in a while! I would love to see a telescope in the same scale eventually
I wonder if they could do a working kolidascope with trans clear parts?
coba coba
There is a small telescope in Lego Ideas candidates online. It is still waiting to get its 10 000 votes though.
I'm surprised since I find it very nice.
Yes
A microscope with biological samples to look at would be so great and educational too
After seeing Master Builder Alec make his own Polaroid camera made me want one instantly. I'm really glad that it's an actual set now. Although I dont think the set is worth $80, I can see the plastic pictures being the main reason for the price point.
It’s crazy that in Australia it’s only 90 bucks (That’s about 60 USD) We are so used to everything being so much more expensive here!
Can't help but notice they still use the Bohrok eye piece! That part has lasted longer than Bionicle at this point!
I love how creatively you've been showcasing your "subscribe" brick in recent videos!
Funny that the Australian price makes it a good price per piece value as AU$90 is only US$60. Usually a US$80 set would be listed for about AU$130
Thanks for the detailed review, good to know about that one sticker not staying on, and the price overall. I really appreciate the footage of the inside mechanics of the camera.
Great review as always!💜
My nibling is really excited about this set (Lego and photography are their 2 favourite things) but Wow what a horrendous price, I hope I can find it on sale for them someday
The scale is pretty good from what I remember of my dad's identical Polaroid!
I’ve been noticing that almost every set I end up buying, is Ideas. Absolutely love that theme, but it’s kind of concerning that the sets I love most, were actually not designed by Lego.
Weirdly with the AUD price of $90 it converts out to $60USD, a rare win for the Aussie dollar. Otherwise the mechanism and overall look is great
As an aussie, was immediately suspicious of the similarity in price. Will definitely be getting this with the advantage.
Here in Mexico, converted is 117 dollars, which is insane bc we have a factory here
@@luigiymariobrothers that is frankly outrageous
Its also worth mentioning that you can buy a functional Polaroid Camera from Polaroid themselves for $80 which makes the price even more insane!
Or you could spend $80 on only 4 packs of film! With 8 shots per pack! What a lovely deal.
I have been waiting for this exact video for days!
one of the master builders on here who works at legoland in california originally made this for his youtube/tiktok and it's nice to see it as a real set
Finally!!🎉 the set that I’ve been waiting for 3months!
Very cool "subscribe" shot through the viewfinder on this one :)
Yet another set I would have bought if the price didn't completely push me away. Do you think pricing will ever get better? Or are these prices here to stay?
I'm not too sure. When IP's are involved prices usually go up. Star Wars, Marvel, Harry Potter etc... But not by this much!
Keep an eye out for price drops. I got the Crocodile Loc twice in 2020 when there was one for sale with a 20% discount. Unfortunately due to illness and other life happenings, I've not had a moment to put them together :C
Great view from the viewfinder! I can't subscribe twice 😂
Said it once I'll say it again!! As a lego collector and a vintage camera collector this was made for me!!
I love your reviews! Helped me get the titanic as i was deciding between it and the eiffel tower
Used to have one of these in the 80s very good great review 👍
This pricing is brutal especially compared to upcoming 31147 Retro Camera which looks spectacular for something that costs $20.
Paying for the licensing fee, its meant to get the diehards and collectors to give up the money! Not really a set for the average collection lol
100% thought that one picture was Bruce Wayne. Didn't even realize that wouldn't make sense until you pointed it out. 😅
Hi Tiago, love your work. Regarding the exposure dial decal, most Lego bricks have a slight oily film on them from release from their mould. This is not an issue with flat decals, but here this appears to be enough to prevent this one sticking. If you clean the part with mild detergent and dry, this decal will stick ok. Neal
I like how the $80 is obscured in the thumbnail but it’s still very clearly $80 😅
Also, just subscribed. My favorite Lego reviewer.
Thanks for the sub! Means a lot! ❤️
3:27 I honestly love this feature. Get two of those sets and some sturdy poker cards and you can have a fun "shootout"!
We appreciate your dedication and hard work. You'll always have our support.
When prices were first jacked up, I was pretty miffed. I couldn’t even afford sets I had been saving years for because of the increase. I was essentially priced out of the big sets like the Daily Bugle; however, I rather like now that Lego sets are high priced for early adopters, soon go on 20% discount (mostly at big box stores) and can eventually be found for over 40% off. Sets that do not get this massive discount are obviously popular enough that the price is “justifiable” from the perceived value of the buyer.
If I ever get this, I’ll be watching for a discount that puts it around $50 (like Luke’s helmet).
I watch a lot of reviewers but I never subscribe because they are always so lacking in detail or care, but you are consistently great and I hope you continue grow!
Awesome review as always and merry christmas, and wishes for a happy new year! 🎄 Now about the price tag you mentioned.I cannot agree more that this price is expensive for what it is and the pieces that counts, but we should learn by now that when it comes to licenses the price goes pretty high.Smaller sets with licensing that should go for 20 goes up 30 to 35 usually! Though i do like and respect the work in this i would prefer however to go buy a normal polaroid instead this one though.I don't know exactly what audience lego chasing with this kind of set though! 🤔
I share the same feelings about it. I love it when I saw it and run away when I knew the price. I would put it on my list, but removed cause of the price! Insane!
Here’s the thing 🤷🏻♂️ this brings the nostalgia of the Polaroid camera that I once had and I love the studs… because that includes the nostalgia of Lego… after all, it is a LEGO set… love 💕 it!!!
I'm not sure if I said this on your channel or someone else's, but at $90 AUD (89.99 to be exact), it's a steal! If converted properly, the set should retail at approx $115 over here.
I think your points about the back of the camera are well-taken. Instead of doing advanced gymnastics with ill-fitting plates, I think they should have taken a page from the Great Pyramid of Giza and used old-school roof tiles. It would have been solid.
I wonder if you apply stickers on a finger or using tweezers. I don’t touch the sticky part with my fingers, always tweezers, so the sticker retains its full strength. Might that be the issue here with the curved sticker?
Looks beautiful from the front but very clunky in the back. Definitely going to be waiting for it at a discount.
1:03 thought that was Mr. Rogers until he showed the real photo 😂
You make great videos Tiago. I really enjoy them as an Afol.
Glad to hear that!
Might just download instructions and bricklink it without the photos, stikkers. case etc. Shave of 75% of the price.
Not a terrible idea!
It's a nice rendition in Lego of this iconic camera, but 80 usd is crazy, especially considering the stickers. For a display piece, one sticker curling up so soon is pretty abysmal...
Andre 3000 is disappointed that you didn't shake the photo after it came out of the camera.
I have been waiting for this one. My Dad worked at Polaroid for 40 yrs.
the only, and i mean only thing that can justify the price a tiny bit more might be the building experience.
what would you rate it /10? just curious, because if the building experience is not great too, then i don’t really know what LEGO was thinking
either way, really high price. like you said, if you want to buy it, wait for a discount
Is there chance you could do a comparison video, between polaroid and 3in1 camera? as 3in1 camera could be a cheaper option.
Have you tried applying some heat to your decals? Just a household hairdryer will be enough. It will heat the glue and make the sticker more pliable especially when going around curves...
I genuinely don’t understand why the community/reviewers are so focussed on PPP, it’s a great product with neat unique extra’s. Surely they have good reasons to price this set at 80. I don’t buy this set for the pieces.. I buy the whole package. I think it’s great and justifies the price perfectly (just as the Disney camera btw).
I mean you can basically buy a real Polaroid for that money 😂
Price per part ratio is the least of this set's problems. Even if it had like 800 pieces to match the really high price, it won't save it because the set is so very small compared to the many sets that hover in this price range.
And it may also be handicapped further due to the fact that there's the Retro Camera in the Creator 3-in-1 range. Yes that set is smaller and isn't licensed, but it is four times cheaper, which cannot be ignored.
This will become a collectors item. Youre pretty clueless about licensed lego products lol
"collector's item" that doesn't excuse the crazy price 😭😭
@@JT-np1op LEGO fan butthurt much. Almost all Lego for grownups is licensed so it is not that special anymore. This will be on sale soon.
@@Bambeakz “butthurt much”? Are you okay? 🤣 somehow my comment made you lose your intellect.
@@JT-np1op Try to be around people more instead of only building LEGO. You have no clue how normal social interactions work anymore ;)
Its Spot on, just wish it wasn’t $80 which is an outrage. Not to mention some small issues with the set.
Didn’t Nikon make one all black?
lego should make smooth pieces for this kind of sets.
Great review as always! I‘m really sad about the price but it looks like a great set! I probably won‘t get it but seeing reviews of these kind of sets are always enjoyable.
As a HUGE film camera fan. I definitely want to get this. But agree with the price. Can't wait for a sale! But I can wait.... :)
A clever set. Lego is leaning more and more heavily on nostalgia for older buyers these days. What's next? An 8-track tape deck? A VCR? As far as royalties, perhaps Polaroid should be paying Lego for the advertising, not the other way around :)
They did a VHS tape in set 43227: Disney villain Icons.
Waiting patiently for the tiny plants review 😊
Next week most likely!
Whenever marketing people „think outside the box“, the world gets yet another brand crossover.
I definitely want it but idk if I’ll get it day 1, might wait for it to be $20 less
lego MOC’s of a polaroid camera have existed for a long time, I remember finding them online when I was in middle school, and tbh some of those fan creations look better than this model, the studs are really throwing me off, it doesn’t look clean at all. Also, im pretty sure lego could have found another solution for the photos that could have been cheaper. Maybe big smooth plates that slide in the camera? Im overall dissapointed by this product and the price, since the concept is great.
I wonder if I could fit polaroid go images inside 🤔
As someone who loves building models, I have a principal that stickers should never be applied on a curved surface it only works on a flat surface. The curve part should have been printed
Bought one Lego set this year. The Dry Bowser Mario set. Over 1300 pieces for around 70 euros.
I just wish they would do a folding SX-70
I absolutely agree, Lego is great but you’ve got to watch the pricing, luckily you can often pick them up from other brands on a discount but still for the average people who want to gift their children a Lego set that is of decent size it’s not really worth it
Given the fact that BrickerBuilds has a Polaroid Camera with black slopes for the back of the camera body I’m surprised that Lego didn’t go that direction also.
After the changes they've made to every Ideas set recently, I'm shocked this is so close to the submission.. but it's also kind the lamest
I have a slight problem with this set. Looking from the back side of the camera, the right tilted wall obstructs the shooting mechanism. This happens especially when I am supporting my right hand thumb to the tilted and straight-up wall. Have anyone else noticed? I rearranged the bits a bit, I placed the 2x2 wing to the top and then the dome hat to it. This leverage is just enough to keep the wall from obstructing the mechanism. But it also opens up the wall and I can see more of the insides.. Maybe I need to try to figure out a better solution to this. Also the flipping bottom tray broke once, but maybe it was just my luck.
Hoping for a lego Leica set, because it will probably be the closest I'll get to owning a Leica
Its a cool play feature, if your bored, you can shoot with it like a gun
Few stickers or none at all? ✅
Few QC issues if none at all? ✅
Reasonable size with features that makes for a small, simple, yet striking display piece? ✅
Easy to pack away in the event of moving? ✅
The only thing this set doesn't tick is value for money, but even then this set ticks more boxes than the OE could.
Even though I'm more of a train fan than I am photography nerd, this might actually be a day one purchase.
I also love that the team figured out a way to make the button work unlike the original submission, which relied on a Technic gear.
I feel as though sets like this are kind of the hallmark of what most Ideas sets should be, taking the submission and improving upon it where possible while keeping the core concept and identity resembling the original.
Thank you for the review as always Tiago, this set is definitely the redemption Lego Ideas needed after the OE.
The Lego creator 3 in one camera is amazing value and just as cool in my opinion…
For less than 20e, I picked up the 3 in 1 Creator camera set 31147, as an impulse buy. For 89e, what they ask for this set, needs some more convincing.
This is 30% too much! Thanks for an unbiased review, even if you did get the set free.
At this rate my whole house will be lego. I'll play on my lego nes with my lego tv. I'll take pictures with my lego polaroid 1000. And study geography with my lego globe.
And use your Lego typewriter to type letters to tell everyone about it 😂
I am not one to complain about stickers, but stickers on the side of circular pieces are a nightmare and will ALWAYS unstick. I don't know the physics behind it but probably some force makes the sticker want to straighten back to its straight starting shape. Bad decision by LEGO here.
Awesome
Try the price of the X-Men 97 jet at $85 for 359 pieces and 4 minifigs that are not very good.
Can this push any type of paper, or would it wrinkle the other paper?
Card stock would probably work, since the photos in the set are plastic sheets.
it would have been so easy for them to make it really take pictures using currently available instax film
the exposed studs make it look a thousand times better!
nah it would be better with smooth plates.
Pretty cool but for just spending a little more you can buy the actual camera. Still really neat and if I had them this would be next to the typewriter, haha
its not about having the camera with legos the entire point is building them and stuff.
Can you review a Lego sonic set?
Just finished my set, but the photos will not eject. I went back, took things apart, but no I did not miss a step so I am very confused. Its like the photo is sliding UNDER the mechanism that is supposed to push it out. Very frustrated.
I am similarly frustrated, after dismantling and re-assembling that component three times! The schematics around Step 75 could use improvement for greater clarity. I gave up for now and moved on, but maybe someday I'll break it down and try again. Even the Saturn V was easier.
It does look cool. I wonder if Lego will make another object like this one?
Probably. It has done the typewriter and the Globe before, also lot's of plants and a few other "household" items turned LEGO so I don't see them stopping anytime soon!
There's another vintage camera coming in the Creator 3-in-1 range.
And the Nintendo and Atari consoles
I got one!
In my country this retails for the equivalent of only $50, I'm not sure why it's so expensive elsewhere
Same but not quite ... the LEGO Creator 3in1 Retro fotocamera is 19,99 ;)
I actually have a one step Polaroid camera, and I can say that they’re very similar
Why is the AUD price so out of line with the rest? I mean don't get me wrong. I'm thrilled to finally have something like that in my favour for a change but that has to be a mistake right???
I have no idea! Enjoy!!! Unless it was a mistake, but at the time of this review going live, that's the price shown in the AU website!
I just got paid, might have to preorder it before they update the price
This reminds me of the instant cameras my family used in the early-2000s, when I was a kid. I don't believe we had anything like this at the time but we used instant cameras that we'll get printed at a shop later until phone cameras actually got good enough to use.
I would probably get this set as a nod to my early photography days, but also that function is really cool to replicate in the Lego model.
The ability to literally shoot photos is fun nonetheless :))
Undeniably!
Wow, the US is getting hosed on this one!
In Aus it's 'only' $90 Australian (including 10% sales tax), so relatively far cheaper.
1:51 try gluing the sticker
Glue on LEGO?! You think I’m some kind of monster?!!
@@TiagoCatarino i said glue the Sticker, not the f**king lego. Glue the sticker so that the Sticker can do its job
£80.00!?!?!?!? Wow. I think I'll be waiting a while to get this one...
£70 if we're talking pounds, but yeah it's not great for the price.
I wouldn’t pay more than $40 for this. But a real one!!
I'm now scared of how much the Dungeons and Dragons set will end up costing 😶🌫
I am actually a photographer...I will buy this set to display it near to the real Polaroid camera that i have ( the exact same model!!!! lol )
but also, I will wait for a discount on that set!!!!
Great review as always. Usually love Lego Ideas sets, but when they create objects that are easy to own, why not get the real thing instead? Past examples where the real object is cooler would be the typewriter, guitar, globe, etc.
Remember the Adidas shoe? I still have no idea why you would recreate something out of LEGO.
You can't take the real thing apart and turn it into something else!
In the case of both the globe and typewriter you could even make a vehicle as both come with wheels (paper roller on typewriter, 4 inside as counterweights on globe)
you seem to not get the point of legos.
It cost 75 for me but I have a problem with those angels back pieces popping off so easily
Ironically I think this should have should have been a big sticker to drop the price
I don't know cool Is cool but you can purchase an original polaroid series 600 for a 1/4 of this price
