    Oh my God, another amazing guitar in the hands of a master! I want to buy all B.C.RICH models, LOL. a super important question, are they neck/headstock heavy by any means? sitting down or standing up. please let me know, keep up the awesome work!

      You're too nice! yeah, i've been a fan of the brand for a long time, and I'm glad to see them come back with quality gear. I glossed over how comfortable the guitar actually is to play standing up. I know I mentioned it, but it was really quick. I had basically zero neck dive on this guitar, and unlike a les paul, strat, or other popular shape, this one has incredible function built in, which I tried to show around the 2:00 mark with my right leg. Until you've tried that trick with a warbeast, warlock, bich, etc, you just don't know how intuitive it is, and how helpful it can be when you get to a more challenging section.bIt practically puts it into seated position while you perform. I had remembered your questions on the mockingbird, and I tried to address some of them for this guitar, but it's hard to get all the details in the brain out in an organized manner, and be somewhat engaging at the same time. I would NOT recommend playing it sitting down though! The bottom horn digs at the leg unless you're very clever about your seated position. anyway, hope some of that helps.

    My first good quality guitar was a B.C Rich Warlock that my dad bought me in 2007 (which I still own and use to this day). I wanted it because it looked really cool, but it actually turned out to be an amazing instrument as well. This new model looks absolutely gorgeous and if it's as well made as my old Warlock, it's a beast of a guitar.

    • @jessebillson
      @jessebillson  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      That's cool! Yeah I think these new ones are really well made. I've played quite a few now and they have all been great sounding and playing. The period where B.C. Rich made truly garbage imports are unfortunately what a lot of people think of when they hear the name. The brand came up as a high quality option, it sounds like you hot a good one!

    • @jelaienfinue
      @jelaienfinue 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@jessebillson Yeah that's unfortunately true. One of my friends had a cheapo Warlock and it was indeed pretty bad, nothing like my more expensive Warlock. I get why a lot of people are still thinking that BC Rich are cheap guitars because of the cheaper options from them, but they also make amazing instruments. Same could be said for other companies, but they don't get thrown under the bus like BC Rich for some reason.

    Such a great video. I appreciate the honest feedback. I am getting back into guitar after a 15 year hiatus and my son is learning to play now. I picked one of these up even though I know it’s overkill for my skill level. It makes me want to pick it up everyday though which no other guitar does. What amp would you suggest for jamming at home?

    • @jessebillson
      @jessebillson  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @jphalfshady I love to hear when someone has an instrument that makes them want to play! Awesome!! I'm guessing you're playing metal with a guitar like this. Me personally if money is no issue then I'm going with an engl or diezel amp. Below that I'm going with a kemper, below that probably a line 6 HX, below that I'm probably looking at a plugin like what's made by neural dsp. And below that I'd be looking at the free digital amp plugins that get included in a daw. You could follow the amp options into something like a mesa boogie 1x12, and that would be pretty awesome and cheap.

      @jphalfshady I sold it. I have a bunch of other bc rich guitars since I got this though, including the blue mock I played in a few videos. The blue mock is still one of my favorite guitars I've ever owned. I'm hesitant to call it my favorite guitar because I have some really nice American ones, but the blue mock just clicks with me. I've played the heck out of that one, and its held up really well, as have the others. I wouldn't worry quality over longevity with these or any other guitar coming out of the world factory.

      Thank you. I tend to like modern features and new frets. I've worn out plenty of frets, making the guitars not play quite as well as they once did. so I feel inclined to pick the newer ones. There are some minimal differences on some body shapes that in my opinion you really have to look hard to see, but people get attached to things. Go with what you feel is right. I currently have an nj and 3 or 4 usa models as well as i think 4 of the new korean models. Surprisingly enough the Zoltan model shredzilla became my go-to, and I'm also currently using the 8 string prophecy a LOT.

    • @jessebillson
      @jessebillson  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Oh congrats! My friend just bought the same guitar. When I was a kid I didnt like Ibanez necks, but I can certainly appreciate that thier craftsmanship is solid. Now I like them a lot more but I still think they feel a little on the slim side. So I think it becomes a matter of preference. Both have quality components, and play great. B.C. Rich has a slightly better price point, they are all neck through designs, so that could make the case for the B.C. Rich, but again, Ibanez prestige is a nice guitar and I think it's in preference land.

      hahaha! Well the fishman fluence pickups are excellent! They're my new favorites. They seem to have a pretty low noise floor and good definition, which allowed me to crank the gain up. This style needs a fair amount of gain, but I think I tend to use less than traditional metal guitarists do. I like to go right to the point where I get very little dynamics when I pick soft, then back it off about 20%. I'm also terrible at controlling the kind of gain that more extreme players use. So there's that. haha!

    i don't find it a problem sitting down with the warbeast it's comfortable. maybe for short guy's the top horn would poke you or if you're one to cradle a guitar it would be sticking you in the chest. the bottom horn on the other hand can poke your hand good if not paying attention when sliding quickly to the upper frets ouch it happens more often than i like lol

    • @jessebillson
      @jessebillson  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Interesting. I can't say that with any guitar i've ever played that the bottom horn was ever a concern when sliding to the upper frets. And I found that the guitar dug into my leg while sitting down in either classical position or rocker dude position. So I was curious about what your technique might be. So I watched a couple of your videos.
      It looks like you have formed a habit of rotating your fretting hand outward, especially during lead lines. Its not as obvious when you're playing rhythm, but 0:33 of your trooper cover, shows what I'm talking about. If you focus on rotating your hand inward so that your pinky is closer to the fretboard, then you'll be more efficient and you probably won't have that problem anymore.

      @@totalbullion5882 Hey guys, both of you make great points. TH-cam is full of trickery and I myself have been tricked in the past by good demos. I hate that! I try to be fully transparent about these things, but believe it or not, it's surprisingly hard to be entertaining, informative, engaging, and truthful all at the same time. And don't get me started on algorithms.
      I can tell you that this is me playing THIS guitar 100%. My video takes are not always perfectly synced, but it's me. You're hearing left and right guitars hard panned. This is music that I wrote, mixed, and mastered all in an extra bedroom in the house, and the sound is the exact guitar you see, with no additional processing on the guitars in the mix. No extra compression, eq, console emulation, etc.
      That would be disingenuous, and I wouldn't want someone doing that to me! I did however shape the other instruments around the guitars so that I didn't have to do anything to them, and the master limiter coloring things a little, but you can look into the Weiss limiter if you're interested in understanding that tone.
      The video description tells you what I'm using. You would get the same exact tones with that setup if you were so inclined.

    • @jessebillson
      @jessebillson  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      And to expand on the statement below, yeah, Tom. You seem to be astute. The drums and bass are there to cover some insecurities in my playing abilities. That's the truth. but I also do it because I can, it's fun for me to put the music together, and I think it's more entertaining, and hopefully we are all going to hear these instruments all working together anyway. No hate taken! haha I appreciate the input! Please let me know what would be less fake to you, and I will gladly take it into account in the future.
