No, I’m right. The cordless Festool kit can be had for sub $1000 stateside. That’s $200 cheaper than the Milwaukee. We’re talking US dollars, not Canadian, buddy.
@@baraksinzso for $1000 festool doesn’t have automatic filter cleaning, a hybrid power system, and is a 3.96 gal. System. Or you can buy the bare tool for $799 and run it off a cord or you existing m18 batteries. Their track saw has been rated right up with festool so why should we think the dust extractor will fall short? The 12 gal corded Festool with all the features is $1100 so I feel this is a fair price. I would love for it to be a touch lower, but unlike festool who increases their prices yearly Milwaukee actually puts their tools on sale.

Thanks Rob for the overview! I voided my warranty but made my single battery packout compatible ,through-bolted a bracket above. Cut a hole for access to the onboard tools ,and for hose storage. Also added an adapter down to 36mm for tracksaw use. They finally got it right. PO compatible ,BT dongle, corded option (although probably not a charger),smaller hepa filter which allows for more capacity.
Only important question: While plugged into AC, will it charge the batteries? If so, this is on my wish list. If not, eh. If I can swap from plug to battery and back without having to pull the batteries out and charge them independently - but still have the option to do so! - that would be incredible.
Is Milwaukee gonna make a quality finish sander compared to the Festool ets ec sander and put in a pack out and able to put on top the new dust extractor
Great to see. Milwaukee have been behind Makita XGT in blue tooth dust extraction. Long overdue for this and the tools to come to market. I’d love to see Vaclink batteries as an option to add to non equipped tools too. Only bad news is the price. Makita’s offerings will undercut this by the look of it
Make no mistake...I'm getting this when it comes out. But DeWalt have had a single battery/plugin vacuum for nearly 10yrs. I'm guessing Milwaukee wants full hepa style than just a "shop vac" which I understand. But maybe a little late. Few yrs using a lot of flexvolt before I switched over. Dual battery 12inch miter saw was fantastic if not really heavy. I actually opted for the single battery in the Milwaukee to get closer to a sustainable portable weight like a kapex on ug cart. But really still much heavier. I never had a complaint on the single battery flexvolt table saw vs "dual battery" if they really ever are. I did have to change the battery couple times a day. Now that tool would have benefited from a single battery/plugin option. Maybe that's where Milwaukee is going. All their cordless power tools dual battery and plugin option... I could buy that. I would buy that.
Is this available in USA yet? Wondering when this will available in the UK. I'm currently looking to change my full tool kit to milwaukee but need a wireless dust extractor and with there being nothing available in the milwaukee range at the moment this could be a deal breaker if its not available here soon.
Metabo has a system that detects the vibration of a tool when you turn it on through a remote that can strap on to any tool and start the vacuum automatically, no Bluetooth required on the tool and works on any tool regardless of brand, I think Milwaukee should do something similar.
I've only just heard about this new red vac, when I saw the new vaclink I had high hopes it would be similar to the Metabo adaptor. I've been using that with my corded shopvac and it's a game changer for cordless tools.
This is awesome! I was looking at the Makita 40 V dust extractors, even the 80 V, but the runtime on just batteries was a turn off. The fact that makita cannot use remote off on button was also a turn off. The only other vacuum that was considering was the metabo HPT 36 V which could work as a corded or cordless, but that was only 2 gallons with the small hose. This is perfect providing the decibel ratings are in the 60s. So glad I I can stay with the Milwaukee platform for everything next I want to see a orbital sander that’s corded or cordless like the Festool Low profile like the Boschgex18v or bosch gex12v but with a 5 mm orbit so I can use it for bodywork and paint.
Now we need to know if the AC power recharges batteries. But I've been waiting for one of these for a long time. I absolutely love my packout vac for small jobs.
It’s not a great shape for water, I’d use it as a last resort, this is more of a dust extractor for me, My cheap RIDGID does water ad I do t care if it gets messed up.
Nearly everything I've hoped for in a vacuum. Packout, dual power source, vaclink. Only thing missing is the ability to charge batteries when plugged into AC. Seems like a missed opportunity there. If they can integrate Vaclink into OneKey and let all my current tools work with it without the adapter I'm buying this the day it comes out.
I’m right there with you. The dual power sources and the auto clean and the fact that all my systainers have been swapped for packout make this a no brainer. Plus having the ability to buy this stuff at most big box stores makes accessibility to bags etc easier to get.
You can buy new 5" orbital sander with vaclink now but this dust extractor still isn't out, so there's now vaclink tools for sale now but nothing to vaclink them to.
I feel like my m18 shop vac was such a waste.. missing all these features they finally addressed especially the wired power option. Battery life is just not there yet for something as demanding as dust extraction without investing in 12.0 batteries and for that cost you’re better off going the festool route
The next logical step for these dc/ac type tools is to incorporate a charger. Huge opportunity here. Batts run out and you have to plug this vac into ac, run it on low and let the batts recharge. Or let them charge when the vac shuts off.
Ok so they came out with Milwaukees version of AWS, but it’s less capable. Kind of weak in my opinion. Festool has had the Bluetooth button for years, and makita has a non-button automatic Bluetooth feature. Milwaukee needs to work on this
I see these things, know their use is forward looking and wise, but the prices being asked are outrageous. I can’t help but wonder how many people are going to come down with mesothelioma from exhaling dust because they couldn’t afford proper dust management. I wish companies would agree that by making dust management a loss-leader they could keep their customers alive and productive to keep buying their tools.
It's a dust extractor, not a shop vac. The CFM is much higher, it automatically clears the HEPA filters, and it links to tools to turn on when they do. It's for hooking up to woodworking tools being used in enclosed spaces. A shop vac in the same role will not perform as well due to lower CFM and the filter getting clogged. If you're doing lots of woodworking then a good dust extractor makes a huge difference over a shop vac.
