- Good Sound Selection is a fundamental skill every great producer must-have.
Sound selection, in short, is the ability to select the best presets for your beats. What makes up this skill is knowing how to find the best presets, knowing the best drum kits and where to find them, the best plugins to use, and overall having a fundamental understanding of sound design. In this tutorial, I'm going to cover all of this.

Can u do a vid just like this, but focused on hiphop or pop music specifically? I subscribed, great video!
I always start a beat with either pads/flutes, soft electric/acoustic guitar or keys. A mellotron VST usually helps keep my sound organic then i do layering with synths/leads. The reason I don't start my beats with thick EDM style synths is because it takes away from the rapper being able to hear themself on the beat. Chord structure is also important.
