    So far, this channel has the most interesting grappling videos for non-practitioners like me who just want to try to understand the art. Great work.

      @@whateveritwasitis Depends where your grip is at, if it is behind the neck, it'll just be uncomfortable for them. And with the step over, you need solid timing as well. That being said, I still get it from the stepover far more than any other position.

  • @whateveritwasitis

    curious, cross collar wont work as well? ive seen this called the step over choke from side control, same thing?

    • @mastermindmartialarts
      @mastermindmartialarts  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      The leverage is different with the cross collar, plus with the same side grip, opponents aren't really expecting any attack off of it. With cross collar, they are. You could call it a step over choke from side control, but I specifically asked Flavio about that choke from that position at a seminar last year. Still a canto choke, but names really don't matter.

    From the closed guard approach, the opponent is able to reach up and push the leg off their head quite easily. What am I missing here?

    • @mastermindmartialarts
      @mastermindmartialarts  10 วันที่ผ่านมา

      You’re not missing anything. Every move has a simple enough defense. And if they defend this, it opens up many other options for attacks .

    What makes you think the Canto choke would be forbidden in Judo???

    • @mastermindmartialarts
      @mastermindmartialarts  7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I’m not up on the rules completely, but on Chadi’s channel ( he’s another TH-camr who’s a black belt in judo), he talked about judo’s constant rule changes and mentioned it now being illegal. But I haven’t looked it up, I took his word for it, the video was from last year sometime.
