- man named Mark Porter sat in the small lobby of a quick service oil change garage. As he waited for his oil change to wrap up, he sipped a cup of coffee and looked out the window. But a minute later, a strange man walked into the shop and despite there being plenty of empty seats, the man sat down right next to Mark. Mark thought this was odd, but he tried not to over think it and just kept on sipping his coffee. The strange man started talking to Mark, just small talk, and Mark responded politely. But when his car was finally done, Mark was very relieved to grab his keys and get out of there. As Mark drove home, he couldn't help but feel like that strange guy was off in some way, there had to be a reason why he just randomly sat down next to Mark despite the open seats, and then why had he tried so hard to strike up a conversation? It all just seemed very odd but by the time Mark got home, he had forgotten about the guy. However, the guy had not forgotten about Mark, because Mark was right to be suspicious. Before my grandfather passed away this year, I got him addicted to Mr. Ballen. Every time a new episode popped up, I'd make us dinner and we'd listen to it while eating, drinking, and even smoking some weed. Grandpa loved these kinda stories so now I watch them every single day, every chance I get for him
I don't know what your belief system is. However, I am sure your grandpa is with you in spirit when you listen to Mr. Ballen's stories.

I've been in a similar situation with my elderly father.
I knew his habits and routines.
He was a man of his word and kept excellent time.
Then one day being 10 minutes late I made allowances and excuses for his lateness.
My husband came home from work so it wasn't traffic.
Within half hour I was a mess and sent the husband down his house.
No I didn't want to find my father.
Anyway thankfully it was fine and my dad turned up just after my husband had left the house to go there 🙄
Can't even remember now why he was late 😂
For real! If you 100% believed that something happened to your parent, then why tf would you want to SEE it. No thank you. I'd be standing outside waiting for police, too.

Because most people who are impatient to see if their relatives are fine would enter to check at them. It's normal to be suspicious when someone doesn't react like the majority and wonder if there's nothing else behind it.
I so enjoy the podcasts, and TH-cam videos. It is almost an addiction to catch up with all the stories. What a story teller.
Pausing at 24:04. As someone who's lost their sibling when they were young (my sister who was 3), I can fully understand knowing something is wrong and NOT wanting to see it. The trauma stays with you and going through it again... I'd have done the same thing.

But, if they had gone into the house, they still would have been #1 suspect because it "didn't sound right" to the cop.

I dont blame anyone who thinks something bad has happened to their loved one and not wanting to see it. I think those cops are weird for thinking that people would want to go into a home where danger could be lurking.
@@bunnymoon3756 Also, I would never walk into what could possibly be a crime scene to avoid ruining or compromising any evidence. Those early clues from evidence are crucial, and a murderer could walk free because defense claims the crime scene was tampered with.
My father was murdered, shot and killed as he went out Aug 13rh, 1996 to work in his garden. The murderer got away, was never indicted because the police mishandled and lost 3 key pieces of evidence, including the one eye witness, who they got no address or last name for. He disappeared.
To screw up that badly, I think the cops "lost" evidence on purpose.
We know who did it, no doubt in anyone's mind. Even his own mother testified against him.
Our story was on "Unsolved Mysteries" and the prosecutor claimed that was one reason they no-billed the case and turned him loose. They thought any media coverage would taint the jury pool. If that was true, hardly any murderers could be brought to trial.

Just because somebody doesn't want to go in and see what they suspect is going to be a terrible traumatic site, doesn't mean they're guilty. I don't agree with that at all. While I understand criminals might use that excuse, it is very plausible. Something similar happened to me some years ago. It was not my parents, but another individual And I just knew in my heart something bad had happened but I was too afraid to go and see what had happened but didn't want to not check it out because what if they needed help. So I made my husband go in and check it out but if he was not with me, I would have done the same thing and not gone in and waited for police to arrive. You know something like that is going to be traumatizing for the rest of your life

As someone who used to live in Springfield, Missouri, I always get chills when I hear true crime stories from that city.
I don't know why I still choose youtube over Spotify, but the ads are ridiculous, and it's becoming the obvious choice

Well the way I see it, there are three podcasts I listen to on a regular basis. These 3 podcasts put a lot of work into my entertainment and worth being a Patreon. Putting one episode together takes a lot of work , imagine doing this at least twice a week. Think of it this way. “ Free TV has about -12 to 16 minutes of ads , so, you pay big $$ to watch TV with no ads. The podcaster doesn’t get to pick how many breaks there are. Spotify, Apple Music , all companies make their money by selling ads. Part of your ad free Patreon payment, that company gets a “ fee” from the podcaster. It sucks , but Mr. Ballen does make more money losing a small chunk of that, then ads . Just push the fast forward at 15 seconds and enjoy 🏆

Oh! I poured a 3*3 foot puddle of blood on the floor in my hallway, with spatter going 6 feet up the walls, when I tripped over a pillow case (that fell out of the laundry basket) on the landing and fell down the stairs onto my kids "safety gate"... We call them "danger gates" in our house now 😂

I lived in a house in Groton, CT and many different sounds, a shadow of a boy ran thru me. Also a shadow man walked across the family room. A growling sound came as I put my head down on the pillow, but I could not get up.

I would really love it if you would cover the Springfield Missing Three... It has never been solved and it is a crazy story about two girls on their graduation evening along with one of their mothers. seemingly disappearing into thin Air, all the while, their house is being cleaned up bye, "friends," removing all forensic material. Springfield Missouri has a few good stories but this is, by far, in my opinion the most mysterious.
