This month I’ll be doing something a little different: several different lists to commemorate this most spirited season of them all. And for starters, a little something different: a trilogy of video compilation lists dedicated to one of my all time favorite tropes: The Evil Laugh.
The Evil Laugh is one of those wonderful cliches that shows no sign of dying, because by God, we don’t WANT it to die. But something I think many people may not realize is that, aside from just sounding awesome (or hilarious, depending on the situation), the way a character laughs says a LOT about that character. This is especially true of villains; various media have given us a great number of iconic cacklers, chucklers, and chortlers, all worth their own diabolical salt.
So, what better time than the time of all things fiendish to celebrate this cliche? And to start off with, let’s go with the company that, perhaps more than any other, has MASTERED villains and their laughs: Disney. Disney has given us many a memorable baddy over the ages, and almost all of them, at some point or another, seem compelled to let out a devilish laugh. Their laughter comes in varying volumes and contexts, but each one says a lot about the character and what’s going on with them. So, let’s not waste any further time: join me as I talk about my Top 20 Disney Villain Laughs!

@@princesssummernight the laugh they used in this video is pretty boring because they probably only needed it to reuse the animation of her fading away and laughing from the beginning of the movie but she has a lot more evil and even maniacal laughs throughout the movie
Personally I love Ursula’s laugh the most. Pat Carroll really makes it sound like a sea witch’s cackle.
But Maleficent and Jafar also deserve some credit.

That face of coachman in Pinocchio always scare the crud out of me and that laugh. I hope in the remake the actor will do a great laugh and that devious smile.

The headless horseman’s laugh is super creepy, instead of “mua ha ha” he’s more like “yeh ha ha ha”
I don’t know if Ursula’s laugh is horrifyingly unforgettable, or if I just watched The Little Mermaid too much as a kid.
Ursula’s is definitely the most unforgettable. It was just perfect. It’s not as scary and chilling as jafar’s, but something about it I never forget.

There is something about evil laughs happening at the end of villain songs that makes me love them yet feel frightened by them at the same time.

@@Aliennee TRUE. but sometimes the actors change the personality of the character by their acting Like "Will Smith" , He didn't try to Imitate "Robin William's" Genie He was doing his own version of it which turned out making a HUGE Success. But Whether It's the Director who changed Jafar's Personality or the Actor , I Think Jafar was a real Disappointment (Not bad or Lousy) , He was a Good Villain but that wasn't Jafar.
The personality for Live Action Jafar was good but the voice was TERRIBLE

The villain laughs I seem to like belong to Scar, the headless horseman, the evil coachman, Cruella DeVil, Frollo, the evil queen, Forte the organ, Ratigan, and Jafar!

For a long time Jafar's evil laugh was my personal favorite, it sounded awesome and chilling, but I have to admit that the evil laugh from the Headless Horseman is better, he literally actually never speaks so the only thing we can hear is that, and the way that it echoes is terrifying
I would have to say Cruella DeVil has the best villain laugh, but... the live action Cruella (Glenn Close) is hands down the all time best. Her and Pat Carroll, who played the voice of Ursula.

I agree that the top three are absolute classics, but I think Scar should have been higher up on that list. Sure its not a lunatic laugh and thats what kind of makes me creeped out. Amazing list tho
If you listen closely to the thunder in Ratigan's laugh, it's the same thunder rumbling sound Sleeping Beauty had.

I saw the coachman as a boy, that smile and laugh of his scared the hell outta me as a boy. Now, he makes me laugh maniacally myself, I lick my teeth every time I see him. I love a good bad guy, and he does not disappoint.
Never seen that Ichabod and Toad movie but I've always loved the Headless Horseman so I might watch it
Sure worth it! Just rewatched it a few weeks ago, now I'm a huge fan of both shorts! Although old (from 1949) they are very much likeable (although I remember the headless horseman scaring the reverliving crap out of me).

Shere Khan has that deep rumbling chuckle that can sound so...in control, he doesn't need a "wicked" laugh to know he's bad news.
The Coachman is probably one of Disney's best (worst) villains. Like Jafar is crazy, Cruella is cruel, but the Coachman is totally pure evil. Even the other villains fear him.
Prince John has the funniest laugh like it's so goofy compared to the standard cackles and bwah-ha's that villains are given.

ohmygoodnessyes! Finally, somebody did justice to the Headless Horseman's laugh!!!! I rarely meet someone who actually has seen this old cartoon. This is probably the scariest and best villain Disney has done. The animators did a remarkable job. But I thought that Tamatoa's laugh when he got the Heart of Tefiti was pretty good tho
