"And it was not their force of will - not their Void devilry - not their alien darkness... it was something else. It was that somehow, from within that derelict-horror, they had found a way to see inside of an ugly, broken thing...and take away its pain" Love how this is still relevant to this day.
@@killsode4760its definitely the theme of Warframe, now more than ever. Connecting with others to heal not just them, but ourselves as well. And in doing so creating infinite possibilities for the future, as opposed to either endless meaningless loops or an ending of loss born of indifference, both of which swallow up and devour “possibilities”. DE gave us an amazing game, but not in a silver platter. Builds, lore, gameplay, fashion…all have “guides” in the game. But truly getting a handle on those things has required a level of community…CONNECTION…that’s not present in any other game. Sure, we can isolate ourselves in solo mode. But the “possibility” of greater connection is always present.
I know I don't trust him one bit. Even if I thought he was making a good point, the correct point even, I would weigh it against what his true intentions would be in the end. But, you know other than that he seems like a sweet guy.
I think "Tau is in sight" was a litmus test of sorts for drifter. Drifter needed a disdain for the orokin just as much as anything else. If drifter is wooed by "tau is in sight", all would probably be for nothing ultimately. Orokin V2, just like that.
Even though he is not entirely trustworthy, because he is an all means justify your ends guy, I believe the reason he wants to go to Tau is obviously not the same reason Ballas and the rest of the Orokin wanted to go to Tau. But we just don't know yet.
1999 was so important to go to because it is the catalyst of Entrati’s plan. He sought answers of how to deal with the indifference throughout time and space, and upon meeting the hex and studying the grey strain, the titans were born, the vessels. After completing the vessels he had to ensure the chosen operator would be able to control these, so he orchestrated and manipulated us into following him through time, counting on our empathetic nature to fulfill his plan: growing the heart to control the mind, in this case, the mind of vessels. The indifference repeatedly taunted and played with us in the quest in order to have us give into despair, in order to spoil Entrati’s plan. However, we did not, and we were able to grow our hearts to save the hex. “Your heart would struggle to move them, it had to grow” is in reference to the vessels, and our bonding with the hex is the final part of the sequence and is why 1999 was essential, so that Albrecht could make sure we fulfilled his plan and so the sequence could be completed. That’s my interpretation, great video!
Oh wow this is 100% it, but personally I wanna see it be twisted, instead of learning to controll the Vessels. The Drifter will connect to the Indifference instead, taking away its pain, instead of fighting. Imagine, a pacified Void Entity fighting the next big threat, Tau.
It also seemed like entrati was egging us on with the "are you more a child then the other" making us do exactly what he wanted. Stop the nuke. He knows we do not trust him so us doing the opposite of what he asks is just a very smart way to go about it.
Which also makes sense as an MO.for him considering he presumably worries that whatever he tries to plan, if he did so with "loyal" conspirators, the Indifference could take on his form and simply command them to do what it wants. He _has_ to work off of reverse psychology to get anything done to avoid creating an organization the Indifference could simply use as it pleases.
I think the difference between the trailer dialog and the ingame one makes a lot of sense when albrect mentions that the loop was altered after entering 'KALYMOS' in the new room's computer. It actually makes for a really nice touch.
I agree with the thought of entrati making himself a common enemy to get the drifter and hex to bond. He seems to almost smile when the drifter refuses to follow his orders, like a 'all according to plan'. There's going to be more, just how we were led to doubt the lotus way back when.
Good point. That makes me wonder where Entrati falls on the friend or foe scale. I can't tell if he's "good" or "bad" cause he seems to play both sides for the sake of his plan, but no one truly knows his plan.
@@Necromediancer It might be just a wild guess - yet something tells me that they might go for "Grandpa" who did many bad thing - but grew from that, realized what was wrong and is willing to do what it takes to save rest from his terrible choices. Lore so far seemes to strongly hint that is going to be his plotline end. He was willing to die if it meant the void would be stopped. If he survives he certainly will be glad but that would be just a nice bonus for him.
This video is incredible. Cant wait for part 2, and i hope that you aren't too discouraged doing longer content like this, warframe is so complicated and you make THE BEST lore videos on it of the whole internet. Plus the amount of effort that takes because of how many in game sources there are for lore makes what you're doing all the more impressive. Thank you for everything!
Entrati and Void daddy want your void powers. Entrati wants to use your empathy and understanding to control the void and succeed where all other Orikin have failed, eternal life and control. VD wants to make themselves whole again in hopes you understand how it suffered. Even going as far as to mimic human emotions (the creepy smile😬) despite not being able to grasp why it can't connect with you.
@@Walt_Chocolate true m8. I think this update has shown Entrati is and always will have the Orokin feeling inside of him. Only caring about what he desires to be the right way.
I have a feeling that the indifference is also trying to absorb reality into the void And our deal seem like it’s a part of that, only when we stopped him from coming did he say “Deals a deal kiddo” I sense that the Zariman is more of a dam than a cork, were it not there, the void would just consume our existence not just slightly bleed through
I don't think Al wants anything more than the destruction of the Indifference. Anything beyond that would be a bonus, but above all else, the Indifference must be destroyed. I think he'd even be willing to sacrifice himself if need be to kill it. And if more people view him as a villain, then at least that makes for one hell of a redemption arc story as a legacy...
@@TheDsIEGE I mean whether or not you want to consider it a victory for the drifter or not. Based on the lore. What we do know is that during the formation of the Duviri, The drifter is implied to have fought the man in the wall or some similar void entity that took interest in Duviri, and then for some reason attempted to destroyed it. During that time Dominus Thrax and others in duviri attempted to fight it off but were losing badly. Only for another entity, that is hinted at being the drifter would step in and fight off the void entity. Likely he stepped in as a result of his brother being killed by the man in the wall. This was supposed to be why Duviri was stated to be falling apart, as well as origin for the creation of the orowyrms and the broken statues of thrax you see in the sky. that the battle took its toll on the land. And that the Drifter was able to stop this after regaining a large portion of his powers back, such as the time rewind powers, or the duviri decrees buffs. Honestly my biggest question about the Drifter is what is he. I mean, how did he get his powers. Because if I remember correctly. The drifter shouldn't exist given the deal that the Operator made with the man in the wall. Even being referred to as a paradox by Lotus. He refers to himself as the one who didn't get saved. And was even awared of his lack of void powers. Stating to Ordis that they haven't formed yet. And if some things that are hinted at in the lore of both Kullerviros, and Kommei are to be taken at face value. The drifter, or the entity behind him, is not only much more powerful than what is shown, but has also been much more active within the story of warframe than what we are actually aware of.
@@FictionalProfiles I think that while the Drifter wasn't meant to survive, they were able to manifest Duviri and seek refuge there, aided by surrounding Void-Magic. I forget which Hex member you can talk to about it, but the Drifter can suggest they were able to form Duviri because they were still a child and didn't know that's something that actually couldn't happen, as in Duviri was just believed into existence. As far as the powers go, I think that happens in the first few hours of Reality Prime's New War. Lotus loses her hand and Teshin is 'incapacitated' before a giant Void portal is opened up. My theory is that with Duviri being in some way connected to the Void, it was linked to the Operator's reality enough for Lotus's Hand and Teshin to land there after going through the portal.
@@FictionalProfiles There's also part when tables of Duviri refer that " "You wouldn't welch on a deal, would you?" And we know who speaks in answer: B. I saved them. All of them. Never said I'd save you. Yet we know it is not true. Drifter was not saved. And who he was if not one of the kids needing saving? He instead saved himself in manner of speaking. It's unclear if it happened before other tenno or after - just that they still were kids. So as far as i see - the deal is already off. And if the Indifference wants to alter this deal... it better pray WE don't alter it on our own :D
If I follow the story correctly, Isn't the drifter just our half character? The drifter is just our character but chose to run away (to Duviri) instead of following the way our operator did in the Zariman incident. The drifter can do what the operator does but since they never learn like what the operator did (like transference until teshin told us in the Duviri paradox and harnessing the void power in war within), drifter is pretty much clueless about most of their own power until after the new war ends. @@FictionalProfiles
I know you stated that it deserves its own video, but seriously? The conversations you have with the HEX about duviri were so interesting! I very much enjoyed how the hex try to empathize with you and also realize that you are in comparable situations. Lettie's reaction is my favorite being that she's not one to mince words when you get it out of her, them being in the loop. But seeing the drifters thoughts on thier time on the zariman and in duviri was surreal. It almost makes me wish we get something to that effect with the operator. The choice system is there, but emotionally messaging the hex on the KIM was deeper. The drifter can be aloof then sincere, sarcastic then sincere or just straight up forwardly sincere. needless to say stonks for The Lotus's Champion is going up! (granted I liked the drifter from the jump personally) 10/10 video seige I love your production, and how effortlessly you frame the conversation!
One of the convo's with Eleanor makes a good point in that while the Operator on the face of it has a handle on things (really even better than the Drifter), they don't really have *_anyone_* that actually, genuinely, cares about them as people. The Drifter has *_friends_* ,people they can let their guard down around and just be human with whereas the kids have been used and abused for decades if not centuries seemingly without ever getting a chance to actually be open and work through their trauma
I believe that the indifference is the way it is cuz of Albrecht; an orokin, being the first to interact with it, meaning that the indifference's understanding of humans and human emotion comes from an Orokin which most prominent emotions are negative such as greed and hatred
Well from what I remember, Albrecht was pretty indifferent and cold towards his peers. But also scientifically curios. Traits that got mirrored by the void.
One thing that's so captivating about Warframe's story/lore is how DE has set it up in a way that spurs us lore nerds to formulate some wild theories (especially coming from you lol) that I believe could be completely possible but at the same time is kind of batshit insane (like your theory on Entrati's grand wager). Wally being characterized as an eldritch like entity but being confined by the strands of Khra due to his missing finger, making us unsure of the true extent of his powers--especially within 1999; eternalism and the vast possibilities it brings; the palimpest of time; the unknown fact of whether it was Albrecht or the Indifference (or maybe a mix of both) who came back from Albrecht's first foray into the void, the Lotus's encounters with the indifference, general void shenaningans; etc. DE has given lots of info about the Warframe universe but we still know very little about it. Each new quest/major tidbits of lore seems to bring just as many new questions, if not more, as it does answers. I'm very curious to see what your red pill interpretation of this quest is, as I also felt something was off about this quest. I think the biggest thing that has me feeling off about this quest is Albrecht himself, and how he seemingly out of nowhere understands the power of love and relationships and its importance after being characterized as a person who deeply struggles with these after the WITW quest and its lore entries, especially when this is juxtaposed with the amount of growth we get to see with the Drifter and the Hex in gameplay. I feel like we should've seen this growth process first hand of Albrecht, given how central he is to the current story. Maybe this will be addressed in your redpill video? Or maybe I'm just misunderstanding things and missed some stuff. I still haven't read the Hex comic yet. I should probably do that. Side note: I'm still unsure of what exactly Albrecht truly meant when he said "Tau is in sight" at the end of the 1999 quest. It seemed so casually said and came out of nowhere that I first thought that it was just an Orokin saying, just like many others have theorized, but as I thought about it more, I realized that we would most likely see it used at least one other time somewhere in the lore. But if Albrecht truly was saying this more literally and had a desire to make it to Tau, just like Ballas and presumably the rest of the orokin, I feel like that'd kind of ruin the complexity and deepness of Albrecht's character that DE has built by making him just another 'selfish, greedy Orokin' and reduce the progress he has made to outgrow that as we have learned from the Deimos and WITW lore. Another side note: I still don't fully understand why Albrecht specifically chose 1999 as the time to enact his plan. Could somebody explain this to me?
Well, according to Albrecht himself from the whispers in the walls quest, he retreated to the only point in time where the man in the wall could not easily follow.
"Tau is in sight" might come back to Eternalism. There is a future where the Zariman made the journey to Tau without a problem. Albrecht might be trying to get to that branch of the future, or else manifest it in the first place. Manifest the future that already exists in some form? There is a possibility that Wally "trimmed" out the future where humanity made it to Tau. So, the future needs to be re-asserted.
My theory is that when Entrati says “tau is in sight” in the bad ending he means that this reactor going critical kickstarts the radiation wars which took humanity to the stars to ultimately become the Orokin who then will seek tau. By adverting the reactor explosion, the Orokin will never come to be in this new timeline we created, perhaps forging a better alternative timeline. I also notice the perfect foil the other has to Albrecht. Entrati “champions” indifference to spurn the drifter to care, while the other tries to pull at the drifter’s emotions by giving them front row seats to the deaths of the hex and trying to appeal to the drifter’s hatred of the Orokin to get them to burn out and ultimately become indifferent.
I thought amir's heart exploded because he was going too fast, that's why our difter tells him to slow down. I only bring this up because in a message between amir and lettie, both are like oh he can't have caffeine because his heart will explode if he ges too fast.
True but... there's no coffee here, it's the panic attack that's making his heart move too fast. He even takes a very DEEP Breath as the drifter comes into him, something the other protoframes don't do.
@@jamsbat1159he still does get shot lmao. Entrati shot him because he couldnt breach the system in time. With the Parazon changing that and everybody else already saved he has no reason to show up
@@jamsbat1159 You are right. Entrati does not shoot Amir. If that is how Amir dies, it wouldn't make sense for us to have to help him the way we did by calming him down. Amir wasn't shot, we were.
Some tiny detail that keeps bugging me is at the end Albrecht isn't injured so the person shooting us may not be him at all. But that begs the question why Wally would set up the journey for us with the Hex?
Love the long form DsIEGE content, especially considering it’s from the best WF lore related channel. I’ve been waiting for this video since 1999 dropped.
I cannot believe you were right with "The opposite of love, is not hate. It's indifference" and it was revealed that love is in fact poison to him We know that the void reacts on emotions as seen in Duviri and Angels of the Zariman and even Whispers in the walls, using Loids anger/loneliness to power itself But there's also joy in duviri, which is a positive emotion, and yet it still feels like the indifference could somehow use that to power itself.
The Joy in duviri is a toxic, forced joy. Almost apathetic to the outside world it tries to force everyone to smile along with it whether they are actually happy or not.
Wich goes to show what the joy actually was there Empty, lifeless. Like someone chasing joy for the dopamine and not the actual, fulfilling happiness. Or the one that arrives naturally. Something like denying the rest of yourself, a crucial part of the whole, to keep the joy. Unnatural, forced, fake. Something similar to persona 3's bad ending (spoilers ofc). Some people could be happier in general, but that should be "fished" out of people. Not forced like that. It lacks empathy (in a sense), love, soul...
I'm starting to consider Wally might be closer to Mana from Dungeon Meshi, a force corrupted by desires it asborbed from something partially conscious. Where Mana first absorbed the desire to consume from an animal and gained an unending hunger, The Void's first contact with a consciousness was Albrecht Entrati, who influenced it greatly with his internality. The first thing Wally experienced after coalescing was curiosity, then it witnessed fear and felt pain. I feel there's something to this reading, but I might also be notorious for a much more divisive take and reading of the story presented in my video essay on the game.
Was waiting for this vid! So thankful for your explanation as I was really confused with this update. I thought the first part was it and assumed it was going to be like the other open worlds but with less substance. It wasn't and I'm so happy you showed that even if it spoiled me a bit. I was underwhelmed with the content but excited for the story but now i feel excited about both and am going to finish the rep required to play it myself! Thanks again siege and I look forward to your future analysis.
Assume that the only true Albrecht is the ones we see in video form. We have to treat 1999 as if it IS Back to the Future. At least, the second one.... That is to say that if we'd agreed to the original Albrecht plan and let Holvania explode the timeline would be secured and things would "end as we began" But because, even as the drifter, we're very much bleeding heart heroic types Wally has played us well in creating a brand new timeline, a skewed timeline... One where Biff gets a fancy casino-err I mean... The Beasty Boils get a floating stadium.
I posted this a few days ago in a discord, tossing an idea out there that had been floating in my noodle following this quest. So gonna drop it here, too. "Through our sacrifice, History will be saved.." I've been leaning more and more into the idea that every "loop" we experience is just part of an even greater loop, one *all encompassing* loop.. Albrecht's entire purpose in the beginning was proving he could revolutionize travel via the void, enduring countless years of mockery from the other Orokin as they tore him down repeatedly, swearing he would never succeed. In the end, he did, but it wasn't perfect, only theoretical. Severing the finger, "*Flaying flesh from bone*" as Wally puts it, and taking full advantage of it's power, we still haven't actually reached Tau ourselves. Nor have any of the Orokin ever gotten there themselves, either. It was Ballas' dream, too. But where Ballas was blinded by his own jealous narcissism, Albrecht is blinded by pride and ego, never willing to accept half success because that's also accepted a half failure. When he says "Tau is in sight", I don't just think it's the *next step* in the plan to thwart Wally or something, but that getting to Tau was **always** his plan, from the very beginning. Not to stop Wally, but to be the first Orokin to reach the distant star, to prove he could do it, even if it means he is the only one alive to witness it. Wally calls him and the other Orokin '*butchers*' because they took that finger and abused it for the power it held. Might sound crazy, but.. Wally has taken a strong interest in us because we *asked* for the help. Wally tells us it gave us our power freely because of that simple fact. I don't believe it is intent on killing us so much as it's just trying to prevent us from helping Albrecht achieve whatever it is he's after. It's not *our* antagonist, it's Albrecht's antagonist. I think, and maybe it's a wild theory.. We'll eventually side with Wally to stop Albrecht from doing *something*.. Here's an even wilder theory I've been sitting on a few days, and why I mentioned an all encompassing loop.. Hear me out on this because it's either totally possible given how crazy this story has gotten, or I need some damn sleep... What if Albrecht and Wally have always been the same entity? So, in his ego, he reaches Tau.. Then what? What does he find there? What might be lying in wait there after all this time? What more could he achieve? Anything could happen, but what if at the end of it all, he achieves some higher form? Or.. *Formlessness*? Omnipotence, but at what cost? To become an all powerful, all knowing entity, but to lose all sense of self, all presence and form.. Eternal, alone, slowly becoming absent of all thought and feeling. Outlasting the universe itself, dwelling in the remaining dark, the nothingness.. Until somehow, some way.. There's a light in that darkness. A figure, disoriented and stumbling as glass shatters. A familiar face, a shape the shapeless recognizes in that sudden instant. It sees Albrecht and remembers itself, now taking on that same form. Albrecht, after so unbelievably long, sees himself, his original self. And reaches out... Only for his finger to be severed and for the cycle to repeat once more from the very beginning... Maybe I'm sleep deprived, but I don't think it's totally out of the cards...
Does Albrecht hope to teach love to an eldritch entity? It seems to work, seeing it does a lot more than being Indifferent. Is the endgame to make It push humanity towards Tau? Cutting out options where indifference and sacrifice happened (1999 timeline where the bomb goes off would purge the murmur, other option can happen only if drifter learns to know the Hex), letting it go only down the path of caring to survive.
@ she had to have she was the breach that allowed mitw to make it to 1999 if she didn’t exist Wally wouldn’t be able to exert his will on the timeline.
Heya, thanks for the video man, have been waiting for it for ages. Also, I’d like to jump on the theory train with the rest of us curious here. If you haven’t dived into this yourself already I’d like to point out that Rusalka’s name is a reference to a character in the eastern slavic mythology, a term to describe a malevolent maiden spirit, that emerged due to the tragic death of a young woman. Mainly it is considered that the spirit lives by the water in the forest, like lakes, and lures people to drown them. With respect to this it is possible that Rusalka can be a proto-water themed frame, like Yareli or maybe even Hydroid. Unless they go with her appearance in quest and go with viral theme to make her proto-Saryn.
DE retconned the Orokin creation of the Technocyte, changed the dialogue of the Once Awake quest to say that the infestation predates the orokin dating back to "the radiation wars" presumably the 1999 era.
What, really???? What a huge change to leave silently unnoticed by, like, 80% of the players, especially the old onens who played that quest before the retcon
Here's the real question. Did DE retcon it or... is 1999 starting to change our reality? The... introduction of Party of your lifetime at the necralisk should put everyone on guard for other... "changes"
Eleanore being able to jump timelines and interact with other versions of herself, and having that alternate version being able to shush Wally away >.>
Someone (on reddit iirc) did propose something in a discussion that "Tau awaits" might simply be an Orokin proverb phrase referring to a future prospect. Which seems more likely in the vein of not specifically repeating things. Along with the dev team explicitly saying not terribly long ago that there were no plans for Tau content and the technical issues that doing such might introduce. I've noticed that many people seem to attribute to Albrecht status as a mastermind, a genius, an omnidisciplinary scientist, etc. An identity not really in line with the lore. Others found the Void before him, but found it empty to their instruments and disregarded it. Only his own failure and desperation convinced him to go full "mad scientist" and experimentally shoot himself into it. With miscalculation breaking his safeguards. He benefitted from the aftermath of his unintentional and mostly accidental capturing of a portion of the Indifference as an energy source, but thats hardly a lofty qualification. At best, I would put him very much in the lines of a D&D character with fairly high intelligence, but low wisdom. He can copy the work of others, or even modify it, but his own ideas and inspirations are often ludicrous and nonsensical. He thought he could convince a, in his eyes, eternal malicious God, that it was an animal by exposing it to animals "thoughts". His best attempt after that was making giant robots to punch it in the face. In "1999" his best plan is a primitive nuclear explosion (not even an actual weapon). Before his apparent epiphany of finally observing something rather then plotting to hit it with a hammer that perhaps it could be forced aside by strong/positive emotion. The bulk of his inventions also seem to simply be taken or copied. Warframes from Ballas, Necramechs from Father. 1999 by all appearance and functionality seems to be a replication of DuViri (with the Sanctum replacing the Zariman as a containment unit, and equally breached as a result). 1999 itself seems to have no logic to its selection other then Albrecht believed it to be a suitable historical year to collect experimental victims in (the game actually states via the Drifter that the Orokin erased all historical record, but perhaps an actual capital O Orokin had more resources then a teenager in propaganda school on a colony ship). Albrecht seems to have convinced Loid and the Cavia and Dante of his own ruse of time travel (possibly hoping that any agents of the Indifference might believe it as well, and not consider trying to find him), but himself would need to be fairly aware that he's simply creating a conscious manifestation of this place. As to where he goes at the end of the quest. He presumably had some safe space separate from the loops (other then the Backroom, which seems like it might be a gateway similar to the Dormizone entrance to Duviri), or perhaps an exit out into the greater part of the Void and consequentally, to almost anywhere.
I think the message of this quest is a good lesson to take into the real world too. Indifference, lack of empathy and care for others, will only lead to one's own downfall in the end. Showing love and care for people, known or not known, is the only true way to achieve a perfect society.
Problem with these fairy tale games is it doesn't reflect our real world. Where at the very top it is evil, indifferent rulers who govern us globally, globalists.
entrati is playing 4d chess, he can be trusted. though his methods may seem odd. his goal is to rid himself of indifference, realizing that LOVE is its weakness, being what is going to undo the indifference's anger bird3 hints at this saying something along the lines of "he just wants to be included, but doesnt know how to fit in" entrati knows that you have to learn to love others, thats why he's directing you through the hex group. to befriend them, bring them together as a team. BECOME A LOVING FAMILY. Rell was able to hold the man in the wall because him being different, he knew what it was like to be an outsider. i feel that Rell and the indifference are respected acquaintances at minimum, if not friends. entrati has been stuck in the loop for longer than we have. he knows what needs to happen in order for us to break the loop.
Told you a few weeks ago Warframe is a love story but you still want the horror story, the red pill. It all comes down to the choices we make.... in game and in life.
As someone who skipped every skippable cutscenes to speed run getting cyte in my helminth, i thank you for the summary bc i was SO confused why everyone died at the end and the time resat to 01/01/1999 😂
The story has gotten to a point to where your way of seeing it is what it is and for ne atleast I'd like to think that the act of 'love' may have provided the energy the Al was looking for considering that intense emotion shifts the void it may have been enough but thats just my interpretation of the ending either way I like how Warframe has gotten more mysterious after the new war I can't wait to see the red pill or part 2!
Could "Tau is in sight" be an expression? Like "victory is near"? Or "the plan is in motion"? I dunno, it seems weird he'd namedrop Tau unless that's the actual final part of his plan.
I think I may have an idea of the red pill? xD Or at the very least, I have my own extra theory, so I will put it down here after some "spoiler separating dots" in case someone doesn't want to see it, so spoilery theory next: . . . . . . . . . . . . . . By changing the events of the reactor and such, we may have accidentally created the Infested Liches xD The "bomb" was supposed to erradicate everything in Hollvania, mainly the Techrot. And besides the Hex and civilians and Scaldra has victims, there's another group of victims: On-Lyne. They were supposed to die. But now that we changed things, they have survived... atleast long enough to eventually become the Infested Liches :P
On-Lyne themselves are fine. The Coda are clones (as discussed in hidden lore in Aoi's room). However the point still stands of letting them live long enough to show up in the future some day.
Apathy is another word for Indifference, and what is what people believe the true opposite of it? Love. It's "Poison." 1999 has been my favorite update to date for Warframe. As it's themes are something i can relate to. i've saved someone's life by being there for them when they needed it, they told me as such. And yeah, more often than not, just being there is enough for them to overcome what they struggle with.
One thing that i’m just stumped by is the fact the reason our Tenno hates the Man in the Wall so much is because they are the reason our sibling is dead. So, were they an older sibling? Were they younger and succumbed to the void madness? They mention having harmed their sibling before.
The Operator hates TMITW because it drove all of the adults crazy and made the kids have to kill their parents and harm innocents by not fully being able to control the power it granted them. It did this for giggles. The Drifter hates TMITW because it made them be stuck in Duviri.
Entrati's role is somewhat explained by one of the messenger dialogues in which the Drifter explains the way that emotions are what shape the void *including* a little apathy. That's Albrecht. He's the apathy that serves other emotions. A false indifference. Btw you skipped over the part on the Zariman where the Drifter called the Indifference's bluff, which seemed quite significant. 4th wall break is most definitely where we're going next. Think about it, what could be more techrot-like than getting the player invested in the lives of fake digital characters? Transference is just like how we puppet the Drifter's choices. The whole chat system highlights the dissonance between player and Drifter, for instance because you're so used to identifying with the Operator that it could come as a massive shock if you're blasé talking with Eleanor about the Operator with her getting angry that you didn't think of them as a separate entity of a child. The man in the wall is coming for YOU. Something I think is often overlooked about Y2K, it's always joked about as a silly scare that never came true, but I think the fallout of that changed the trajectory of people's engagement with technology permanently, from cautious to reckless - because things like that don't *really* happen right? It was far more of a watershed moment than people give it credit.
Another great video! Can't wait for the next one! You do really great work on all your videos and deserve so much praise for all the hardwork you put into them.
Thank you!!!! I try to make them a bit more entertaining than just telling the story but... it always comes at the price of taking forever to get stuff out, so... seeing someone appreciate it and the work is... always a nice thing to see. Inspiring to start the next one, even!
bro that first dialogue choice fucked me up! I sat there for a while and chose "I'd be no different" because honestly none of the choices really felt right, i was ready to nuke hollvania lol. seriously thought I messed up when he got pissed off. Thankfully i see the dialogue is the same no matter what.
I was wondering how they would top Whispers in the Walls, and by the Void they absolutely did. The new quest, the visuals, the soundtrack, the *voice acting* is freaking fantastic! I remember playing through the quest, when the Hex confront Arthur as he was about to leave, hearing the dialogue changes from Tennocon definitely got my interest, and then the moment Russalka said "Kiddo" major alarm bells started going off in my head. (Also, playing the Great Despair at the end of the quest was just cruel, Rebecca why'd you have to hit me in the heart like that. It was cool having new context for the song though, and comparing it to what we thought the song was referring to prior to 1999. "We watch the world burn down around us" was suddenly a bit more literal than before) The Hex are really cool characters as well, just like with the Cavia I speedran ranking up just to see more of the story. The 'dating sim' portion kinda felt out of left field when it was announced, but damn it actually works, and the characters clearly have a lot of thought and attention put into them (One of Amir's chats hit really close to home, and made me love him all the more) One final note, calling the new operations center the "Backroom" became a liiiittle too fitting for me yesterday, as I unlocked a new fear when I got trapped in the Helminth chair and couldn't leave Fantastic update, 10/10, would wield an RPG while standing in the back of a truck again
Been waiting for you to upload, im glad you decided to do a deepdive and keep going. For me, things got especially fishy after we were given the chance to show mercy to the indifference. Why did the indifference take entrati with it? I know theres a possibility its not him, but a copy but this scene really makes you think about it. Maybe i have forgotten but im gonna look into it.
22:10 When you take the rest of Entrati's line, "with each cycle, more seeps into her," into consideration, it seems fairly plain that Rusalka being a "breech" is more of a point of entrance for the indifference in 1999. At least, from where I stand.
If i remember correctly, when you pick the neutral dialog option, the drifter mentions that she is not at fault. It's the void/wally seeping into her. That's why they won't kill her. She isn't synonymous with the void, which is why she wonders who the drifter is when she sees them.
I'm 2 minutes into the video AND MY GOD THAT EDIT IS SO GOOD. Now that I think about it, at midnight it will officially be 10 years that I've been on Warframe and I'll also be 23. Time flies fr. Edit: there are SO MANY things that are off with Hollvania that are outside of what we can see as of now. You and I, both chose Eleanor as I could see in the video, I bet that you as well found 2 things that were off about what she told to us. I speak of her interaction with the void, an alternative version of herself she saw in the void and the religious themes surrounding Hollvania or probably the entire world in 1999. Religion, the governament, the entertainment industry in general there is plotting something big for sure
Great video, as before! I'd like to throw in my own thoughts on the quest and it's epilogue, then give my speculations at the end. The Hex (Quest) - The main quest was awesome! The significant change in dialogue was hella confusing, but when I caught on to what was happening, I loved it! I just hope that they don't fully remove the 1999 demo from the game! Allowing new players to access that demo before Lotus Eaters would heavily reinforce the themes they're going for with this update! I can't help but wonder _why_ Wally took Albrecht with him. I also wonder where the _real_ Major Rusalka is - assuming that Wally hasn't possessed her in the phantom sense of the word. As for Albrecht's words at the end of the quest, "Tau is in sight", I think that was just a euphemism for "the next stage of the plan is ready to go" or "the next cycle is prepared". _Maybe_ traveling to Tau is in his plans - as we have no idea what's going on over there and Wally could easily have made deals with The Sentients that has rendered Tau a beachhead for his schemes (remember, the Sentients are living entities and had to return to The Origin System via the Void, which _should_ have killed them; so it's not completely impossible that Wally made a deal with them to get back, but at the cost of true non-drone reproduction - which may be how he's able to split his various faces apart from his true self). But I don't think that, in that specific moment, Albrecht's words were literal. The Hex Epilogue: The Kalymos Sequence - "...from within The Derelict Horror, they had found a way to take an _ugly, _*_broken_* thing...and take away its pain." Even all this time later, those same words continue to prove that the ultimate weapon of The Tenno is Compassion and Empathy. And it's something I love about how the Operators use their Void Powers. But this particular depiction, while great on paper, has two major problems in my eyes: Unlock Requirements Are Too Low & It's A Glorified Cutscene. DE didn't work for such an emotional scene. The Epilogue was hyped up in the final moments of the main quest, but the unlock requirements were way too low. I unlocked the segment _before the first ever season change,_ for Sol's sake! But for *_MINIMUM EFFORT_* I should have _at least_ had to get to Rank 5 Hex Syndicate and Rank 5 Relationship. At maximum effort? At max, I should have had to get to Rank 5 Syndicate and done some _hefty_ investigation work to _get to know_ each Hex member. The process behind that initial Transference should be _very emotionally intimate;_ because that's how it's described in the lore and displayed within The Sacrifice. And they _have_ mechanics to display this in a better way than a _glorified cutscene._ Have Drifter go through a sequence similar to the boss fight of The Glassmaker, where details obtained through investigating multiple variations of KIM messages guide me on the correct path to confront some Infestation-themed manifestation of each member's trauma in a fight similar to the Void Angels. Alternatively, have Drifter give each Hex Member their own "Mountain Sequence" similar to what Teshin did for Operator during War Within; where Drifter guides them through how their powers work in segments relevant to their trauma, ultimately ending up at a boss fight against the Warframe they represent that puts these skills to the test, with would allow them to overcome their own inner demons with the strength gained from a trusted friend. Maybe combine each version as something that Drifter does as he goes up in rank with each Hex member (Ranks 1 - 5 require investigating each Chat for clues, going into their minds to wear down the Infestation on New Years Eve, and resetting the cycle until he's worn it down enough to fully connect the Transference stream), and Rank 6 culminates in the boss fight. But yeah. I love the concept, I love that DE remembers exactly why the Tenno are so special, I love that DE gave some thought to how the fact that Drifter is literally connecting to real people, but I honestly feel like they should have cut this segment until they could give it more emotional weight. Speculation - It was during your explanation of the initial Zariman scene, of Drifter being spoken to by Wally and shown the demise of each member of The Hex, when I had to get up. Getting up gave me time to absorb some dialogue and think about it, which I didn't do when I was in the heat of the moment. Note what Wally says to Drifter about Mara Lohk and those who encountered the Void before. Mara Lohk was "gifted a piece of me" because Mara Lohk "asked". The others before "were butchers". They "took of me without asking". Now think back to the Quiz Tablets in Duviri. "Where are my fingers, Kiddo?" And, in the portion where Drifter is first being shown the deaths of each Hex member, Wally talks to us as if we were a friend. With this new information, I now posit this question: Could The Man in the Wall, the manifestation of The Void's will, be lashing out because the Orokin's means to utilize Void energy were - from it's perspective - stolen from it? Could it's ultimate goal be retribution against those that hurt it and the metaphorical descendants of those people? And could our ultimate victory come not from destroying The Indifference...but from returning what was stolen and making friends with it? Because if you look at it that way, Mara Lohk wouldn't mean "Void Child" or "Void Demon". It would mean "Void Friend". It's a viable solution, with the theme of the Void-touched Operators being more like friends and companions not only to the Infestation-corrupted Warframes (taking away the pain of their creation through the shared shouldering of trauma), but also being friend and companion to the various groups of The Origin System (taking away the pain of being trampled on by uncaring Orokin Remnant forces). On the flip side, I could be totally wrong, and The Void _is_ actually a malevolent force that wants to destroy the ortherworld that hurt it (as Albrecht seems to imply). And, not gonna lie, I think that would actually be hella based. So many franchises in the 2020s are constantly going on about how the Big Bad Evil Guy is just a poor misunderstood wooby that was never given proper love. While that _can_ be an interesting plot when done right, most writers _don't_ get it right. So in 2025-onward, it would be _extremely_ based of Rebecca and her writing team if Albrecht was actually right all along, but was going about things in the most Orokin way possible (potentially as an attempt to properly shape his "Chosen Operator" into the opposite of Indifference).
Yeah, I want your Red Pill video quick Seige, because I think you're thinking that Entrati is definitely playing the long game with us like I do. The man never really showed any care about Tau and we know he's been a wordplaying master for a while. Plus, why even go through all of the trouble to orchestrate the nuke in the loop where we can make the difference when it still goes off in the other versions of the loop, like the short glimpse of the loop we see at the beginning of the quest. He even conflicts against his own statement in part 2 by showing that he planted us there to give the Hex and that time period a foundation to resist Wally so we can use the vessels properly when that time comes. I definitely think Entrati is slowly gonna build up our ability to directly confront The Indifference outside of our usual compassion and empathy. He's most likely already moved on to the next part of his plan, and we'll be chasing that ghost with 1999s future content (Reb said we aren't done on Twitter) alongside eventually having Drifter go back to the Origin System full-time when the time comes. They have the full ability to leave away from 1999 at any time, given by the KIM messages. They're just maintaining the status of the loop like everything else and being a family member to the Hex.
Adding on to this: Notice how we've been secretly "collaborating" with Entrati since Heart of Deimos? First: We saved his family on the top level of Deimos and are able to keep the Heart stable to keep our technology online alongside strengthening our connection to the Void as Gomaitru/Euleria puts it. Second: We maintained the Zariman to keep Duviri and the Void at bay. Also both versions of ourselves were able to use Euleria's stories/knowledge in one way or another while on the Zariman like the different classes and education that were mentioned. Third: Albrecht himself visited Duviri and educated the people there on how to be wary of The Indifference and then we eventually found the ability to escape and rule/maintain the loop there despite the trauma and baggage attached to it. We even used it as a place of therapy before leaving. Also both us and Entrati were educated through Euleria's story due to how it was made to control Conceptual Embodiment. Fourth: Whispers and The Cavia, enough said. Fifth: 1999, Saving The Hex and maintaining Hollvania.
You have commited one of my cardinal sins of warframe. "Not having music on during quests" in not having the original music going when that epic musical swell was meant to be when you transfer into authur. But asides from that: *[clears throat]* HIT ME WITH THAT RED PILL, --MORPHEUS-- SIEGE. JUST DO IT.
"Hey, lose your light? Here, you can take mine." "Your heart would struggle to move them. It had to grow... The only way it ever does... ...with others." Albrecht & Little Bengel are threats... But somehow I think those 2 lines show that "kiddo's" other here is playing a part too. Just a hunch. Plus I buy the 1999 being another Duviri... And the Zariman he sends you to - & perhaps Duviri is where Albrecht was sent after now being connected to the Drifter? Great video! Looking forward to the next.
Something that I think needs to be considered is if it truly was Albrecht trying to get us to “kill“ the indifference or leave the hex to die. I feel it may have been a manipulation by the indifference to cause the drifter to abandon 1999. Potentially against what entrati wanted entirely. Either that or in Entrati’s plan was super convoluted.
My ear catched something strange in indifference’s dialog in this quest: the oneS (or otherS) before you were butcherS Why plural? Are these others just orokin? Or were there someone else? Maybe it’s about others in other dimensions or timelines (or something else more fitting for eternalism) because, as we know, orokin might have stolen only one star - tau, but stars as well spoken in plural Maybe, it’s just a manner of speech But maybe it’s a big topic for discussion
I believe "stolen stars" refers to space travel. From my understanding, advanced space travel required void power. Both the Railjacks, which seemed to be at least semi-common in Orokin times, and the Zariman, utilize void power to travel freely. We always figured that the Reliquary Drives were duplicates of Wally's original fingers, but they could have very well been "harvested" after Albrecht pioneered void travel.
Something's been bugging me ever since I saw "Sequence Complete" it just felt too easy and too short for that to be it... Now I'm wondering what else you're going to be pointing out in part two.
42:35 a beautiful parallel to " [...] not their void devilry, not their alien darkness. Its was something else. It was that, somehow, from within that derilict horror they had learned a way to look inside an ugly broken thing and take away its pain... "
you know. underneath all this there is a hint at what comes next. we ARE going to tau. period end of story. the holdfasts specifically the archemedian says she can make the jump 100% this time. and the dialogue you get with lettie shows there is a deeper connection with the sentients, tau and the indifference. wether it be next year or the year after. we are going to tau
I swear Google is in my brain. I remember thinking to myself like 2 hours ago. "There still stuff in that quest I don't understand I gotta look up a video on it." Behold a channel I never heard of on my feed explaining the quest to me.
Right after the Indifference makes itself known to the Drifter, saying that it isn't Entrati. With the Rap Tap Tap it may as well have been signing its name, proving its nature in a way a survivor of the Zariman could not possibly mistake.
I love how we just need to give the hex the little push they need its sooo good we have the power to bring out the best in the people we are with all was right its love thats going to let us win
In a conversation with Eleanor, she tell you she attempted to read Major’s mind, she describes how her mind caved like a fleshy shell and she saw it, the void. She saw how small she really was and she felt the thing gain satisfaction with her realization. There is no way to comfort or encourage her apathy about it.
Looking forward to the red pill. I feel like this quest - especially the instant messenger exchanges afterwards - sort of de-mystified Warframe a little bit. I love getting answers to stuff, but at the same time, it takes away one of the main appeals of the game for me. I love the mysteries that can be peeled away at and how strange, yet strangely familiar the game's universe is. I'm hoping your next video will point out how Warframe this 1999 quest is at the core. Either way though, I enjoy listening to your insights and theories.
Same reason as to why I myself am not clamering for a visit to Tau, I think the mystery of "What is Tau?" is way more intriguing than anything that's actually there.
The one thing that didn't sit right with me at the end of the quest was that the Entrati in the reactor didn't have his face all messed up. Yet, right before wally teleported away with Entrati and the drifter, Entrati's face was still messed up. Combine that with how Rusulka was wally the whole time during the quest and THAT radio. I'd argue that wasn't Entrati who shot us. And if that's where the red pill is going I am 100% on board.
I think it’s kinda like berserk in a way our character seems to be that one thing in all causality that we’re the time the coin lands on its edge. And Al knows this and using it to get to tau. Tau is going to have more answers.
I'm not buying that Albrecht wanted to go to Tau. He rejected immortality, the cycle of continuity, as well as other Orokin trappings. I doubt he would so willingly throw away the lives of Hollvania. Not to mention, we still have the techrot to deal with.....
To me it seemed that 1999 had 2 purposes to "open the way to tau" and as well to mature Albrecht's "weapon" us. This for me makes a lot of sense since he always has a failsafe and its really clear that we are his failsafe to keep the indiference at bay
He was absolutely banking on Drifter using the time loop. Now that she’s stuck in that “love loop” maybe he’s farming what comes from her relationships with the Hex. He wants us here, Calymos is absolutely his spy (Lettie is paranoid for a reason), and he keeps twisting things until we bend to his will. No one is *this* shady if they have truly good intentions. 1999’s quest ending is a carrot at the end of Entrati’s stick. Ugh I hate that you’re making us wait for the red pill!!!! Gimme the damn juice, Morpheus!!!!
Ooooh, just wrapped up, goddamn it 😅 My hype train around this stuff seriously needs to stop at this point, revved up all over again! Got a few theories my friend and I came up with after the quest, guess I'll put them here, it'll be interesting to reread when the next video comes out: My guesses: 1) 1999 is a "Strand of Khra", conceptually embodied timeline, like Duviri with a little more calculation put in, and unfortunately we might have just helped the Orokin rise to power all over again. "Back again to do this and we're gonna do it right." This time, the Indifference, or Entrati, or someone else entirely, will be on top like they BELIEVE (😉😉) they should have been, and we've manufactured it for them. The so-called "Sun" reality to our origin system's "Moon". 2) We are in the past of the *drifter's* timeline which had already existed, and we've just handed it on a silver platter to the Indifference, while in the future yet to be the drifter, the only person able to freely oppose it, is conveniently tucked out of the way, and it's all ripe for the taking 3) We have just irreparably damaged the past and tore new Zariman-style holes to the future, and the infestation has already begun to change through those fresh wounds in time (notice anything different about infested ancients since the patch, anybody?) Don't like it, not one bit. You are absolutely right; something's still really, really, unsettlingly wrong, in a hair-on-the-back-of-your-neck sort of way, and I'm willing to bet that whatever the void wars are going to be, we've just set them in motion. Thanks for the fantastic work Siege, on the edge of my seat for the next one
Good recap. I'm not sure it was meant to imply that Entrati was trying to flee to Tau though. There would be no point in doing so as it'd be an uninhabitable system waiting for the Orokin to send the terraformers over thousands of years later, and he's no longer immortal as far as we know. I'm not sure WHAT he was trying to do. Anyway, I look forward to your next speculation video.
Can't wait to see the red pill scenario. My interpretation of the quest is the drifter was reluctantly along with Entrati's plan due to how he abandoned his family, loid & the treatment of the cavia but the turning point being when asked to shoot Rasalka seeing Albrecht in person completely disregard another's life all the while preaching to the drifter someone who we know is well aware of the consequences of one's actions due to duviri & his take on the Zarinam incident itself illuminated through the KIM messages Reached his/her breaking point like that of tagfer, the hex and even Kalymos the void explaining its side of the story whispering once more in a familliar place to the drifter Entrati's plan and why the indifference even pursues him in the first place. To reclaim what was taken from them without consent a choice, something the operator & drifter know all too well how important that is and of course Entrati is after all an orokin people who believe what they pursue their perspective is all that matters. Interestingly the indifference takes a different tone entirely when talking with the drifter & by extension the Operator, not carrying malice or even vauge language to disguise its plans. No speaking to them as though they were friends, family even. At the reactor I believe the Entrati shown either isnt Albrecht fully or never was to begin with as far as we know he has no way to teleport from wherever he went so it has to be the indifference. Or, the indifference mid conversation possesses albretch because for all we know Entrati isnt aware of the drifter's ability to rewind time and the echoing filter he has towards the end mimics the indifference too Even during the finale the indifference questions the drifter on why they are saving the hex as if trying to understand what drives them as Albrecht will find a way to kill the hex to obtain the energy he wants to reach Tau one way or another. But what really stuck out to me is the last speach given by "entrati" the voice sounded off, different even the verbiage sounds nothing like Albrecht at all given he was so ready and willing to sacrifice the hex no what i think is the indifference ultimately learned the power of compassion from the drifter in observing their actions In 1999. "Wield this power with mercy tenno" Why would entrati say that as if he didn't know what compassion was or someone that didn't know how powerful an emotion it is in the first place. My theory is we come full circle and end up offering the void a deal to stop Entrati's plans whatever they may be with Tau and to stop the Sentients there as afterall Sentients are weak to void
49:05 Something that stands out to me the most is the half-life ads and the gordon freeman cutouts. I honestly think there's something DE is trying to say by having so notably REAL amongst fictional companies, fictional boybands, fictional brands, and most notably calling the drifter Marty McFLEA. Why was it so important for DE to throw in THE Gordon Freeman instead of, say, Gorgeous Freedmen? I think they're trying to subtly say something when you take that, the fact that Entrati talks a LOT like the G-man, and the general vibes of Hollvania (stuff like scaldra voicelines sounding a lot like combine comms in HL2) and put it all together. I think the most about a rather iconic line from the series "The right man in the wrong place can make all the difference". After all, 1999 is in a way the wrong place for the drifter, a person born thousands of years later, to be. And after all, the very beginning of 1999 in Whispers in the wall starts on a train, just like Half Life 1 and 2...
From everything basically said directly or indirectly so far it seems like Albrects plan is a long game to get to tau at some point before the sentients and basically claim the galaxy. This, 1999 all the quests before just seem to be the long way around getting to tau. Guy doesn’t seem to care about what happens to the Origin system he just wants to be free of the indifference. Which ultimately means the indifference consumes the origin system.
Albrecht is clearly intelligent, aware of the Drifter's ability to "begin again," and states love is what can fight the indifference. However Albrecht, if like any of the other Orokin, has lived for multiple lifetimes, and likely has become desensitized to many aspects of life, especially relationships. Some of his musings seem to note his disconnection from the few he seems to care about such as his daughter and Loid. For the moment, it may be that Albrecht is simply aware of his own inability to love. whether it be from desensitization from orokin life, his general demeanor, or merely his belief that he cannot, perhaps it is easier for him as a master manipulator to have someone else do what he himself is incapable of. It's possible the whole Drifter incident is actually a contingency plan, only utilized after another failure. On-lyne may have been one of Albrecht's initial plans, to utilize the adoration of a pop-star band of the times as the "love" needed for the fight. Though this ultimately would fail, (ending cutscene?) it's unstated whether it was due to the Techrot, incorrect type of "love," or some other factor. He may have had several different ideas and the "Drifter option" only occurred after those attempts failed. Regardless of if this was plan A or Z, it may ultimately be more effective as the Drifter would likely be capable to maintaining such links over the long-term, where others like On-lyne and Albrecht himself may struggle to do so. Albrecht is difficult to gauge when it comes to his true intent. Like a grandmaster of chess or go, I'd expect he'd be planning multiple steps in advance with contingencies for any and every possibility, intensified even further with the use of eternalism principles tied with the void's potential. As such I would question whether anything coming from him is ever truly sincere, even notes, as he may have known they would be found eventually. The mention of Tau is interesting, as the means of achieving this seem a bit of a pyrrhic victory. While the given time period may offer the opportunity to defeat the Sentient and retake Tau, it also seems to still include the downfall of the Orokin empire in between. From the various stories of the glass bell incident, I always took away with it Albrecht's intense fear for the void creature. Given his character, I would find it fitting if his ultimate goal were to be to kill the indifference, to eliminate the thing which seems to threaten existence itself. However there seems to be a paradox buried in such an effort, for to eliminate despair and sorrow itself would be to turn the world into Mathila's (Joy) Duviri spiral, something he himself states to have attempted to deal with when inhabiting the islands. This may imply that the indifference cannot be killed, but rather must be co-inhabited with. Destroying it may either be impossible as eliminating strife and despair is simply not possible on a star-system societal scale, or doing so may result in the exact thing which Albrecht has shown to act unfavourably towards. Similar to the video, the indifference may just need to be co-inhabited with and managed, rather than outright destroyed. It wouldn't be the first time someone was so bent on doing things one certain way that they couldn't see an alternative right under their nose.
"And it was not their force of will - not their Void devilry - not their alien darkness... it was something else. It was that somehow, from within that derelict-horror, they had found a way to see inside of an ugly, broken thing...and take away its pain"
Love how this is still relevant to this day.
It's completely core to the tenno, i would want nothing else.
You think the Tenno will do that to wally
@@deathknight3252It would be quite interesting if they did.
@@deathknight3252 i thought that was the implication at the end of whispers in the walls
When i heard Big Al say "Tau is in sight" that made me think he is, at the end of the day, an Orokin still. I'm not sure if i can trust him.
I know I don't trust him one bit. Even if I thought he was making a good point, the correct point even, I would weigh it against what his true intentions would be in the end. But, you know other than that he seems like a sweet guy.
Interacting with the cavia made me dislike Albrecht
I think "Tau is in sight" was a litmus test of sorts for drifter. Drifter needed a disdain for the orokin just as much as anything else. If drifter is wooed by "tau is in sight", all would probably be for nothing ultimately. Orokin V2, just like that.
Even though he is not entirely trustworthy, because he is an all means justify your ends guy, I believe the reason he wants to go to Tau is obviously not the same reason Ballas and the rest of the Orokin wanted to go to Tau.
But we just don't know yet.
“The path of good intentions is paved with Hell.” More or less sums up what Albrecht Entrati has done. Thanks, Nora.
Thank you and yes!!! the end in particular I believe seems on point, in as much as anything can be "confirmed" in Warframe!
Damn might as well not watch this video 😂 great response
Oh wow this is 100% it, but personally I wanna see it be twisted, instead of learning to controll the Vessels. The Drifter will connect to the Indifference instead, taking away its pain, instead of fighting. Imagine, a pacified Void Entity fighting the next big threat, Tau.
@@danshrk I think some things should be beyond saving. Some things should just be too evil or indifferent to be "healed" by the tenno.
It also seemed like entrati was egging us on with the "are you more a child then the other" making us do exactly what he wanted. Stop the nuke. He knows we do not trust him so us doing the opposite of what he asks is just a very smart way to go about it.
He CERTAINLY was.
Played us like a damn fiddle!
Man, Albrecht might not look Orokin with his newer skin, but he still moves like an Orokin.
He really does... Sly as a fox... or maybe a cobra.
I think the difference between the trailer dialog and the ingame one makes a lot of sense when albrect mentions that the loop was altered after entering 'KALYMOS' in the new room's computer. It actually makes for a really nice touch.
True... a little hint to the reality of this place, we think at least...
“To save them you must know them”
This video is incredible.
Thank you!!! I'm glad you're enjoying it! can't wait to show you the next part!
I think... this is the best explanation of the concept I've seen so far.
@@Walt_Chocolate true m8. I think this update has shown Entrati is and always will have the Orokin feeling inside of him. Only caring about what he desires to be the right way.
I have a feeling that the indifference is also trying to absorb reality into the void
And our deal seem like it’s a part of that, only when we stopped him from coming did he say “Deals a deal kiddo”
I sense that the Zariman is more of a dam than a cork, were it not there, the void would just consume our existence not just slightly bleed through
I don't think Al wants anything more than the destruction of the Indifference. Anything beyond that would be a bonus, but above all else, the Indifference must be destroyed. I think he'd even be willing to sacrifice himself if need be to kill it. And if more people view him as a villain, then at least that makes for one hell of a redemption arc story as a legacy...
I love how no one talks about how the Drifter not only fought the Man in the Wall, but also chased it away when he was first forming Duviri.
Are we sure about that??? What if... he was always there, messing with us. Kind of like how the void entity plays with both entrati and our tenno...
@@FictionalProfiles There's also part when tables of Duviri refer that "
"You wouldn't welch on a deal, would you?"
And we know who speaks in answer:
(granted I liked the drifter from the jump personally) 10/10 video seige I love your production, and how effortlessly you frame the conversation!
yes yes yes. I was pleasantly astonished at how revelatory the conversations became!
@@username1660 this. The hex have the drifters back operator has the lotus and teshin. Which the drifters has too, so.
I believe that the indifference is the way it is cuz of Albrecht; an orokin, being the first to interact with it, meaning that the indifference's understanding of humans and human emotion comes from an Orokin which most prominent emotions are negative such as greed and hatred
No. A haughty Orokin's main trait is...indifference.
@@GhostRydr1172 Right
Well from what I remember, Albrecht was pretty indifferent and cold towards his peers.
We're On-Lyne
Yes we are!!!
@TheDsIEGE ok, so his heart does explode. He does not die from being shot? Also, I love the videos. Keep them up cant wait for part 2.
@@jamsbat1159he still does get shot lmao. Entrati shot him because he couldnt breach the system in time. With the Parazon changing that and everybody else already saved he has no reason to show up
@elseggs6504 oooooh, i thought entrati teleports into the room behind the drifter after amir died and was aiming the gun at us.
@@jamsbat1159 You are right. Entrati does not shoot Amir. If that is how Amir dies, it wouldn't make sense for us to have to help him the way we did by calming him down. Amir wasn't shot, we were.

Rumbling, Rumbling, it's coming
Epic. Love getting to hear you unpack this insanity. Thanks for the vid!
It's gonna get REAL weird moving forward!
Some tiny detail that keeps bugging me is at the end Albrecht isn't injured so the person shooting us may not be him at all. But that begs the question why Wally would set up the journey for us with the Hex?
I don’t think it is him…
Love the long form DsIEGE content, especially considering it’s from the best WF lore related channel. I’ve been waiting for this video since 1999 dropped.
I hope you enjoyed it!!!
I cannot believe you were right with "The opposite of love, is not hate. It's indifference" and it was revealed that love is in fact poison to him
We know that the void reacts on emotions as seen in Duviri and Angels of the Zariman and even Whispers in the walls, using Loids anger/loneliness to power itself
But there's also joy in duviri, which is a positive emotion, and yet it still feels like the indifference could somehow use that to power itself.
The Joy in duviri is a toxic, forced joy. Almost apathetic to the outside world it tries to force everyone to smile along with it whether they are actually happy or not.
Wich goes to show what the joy actually was there
Empty, lifeless.
2:21 I just started watching and am already unnerved by the amount of Vitruvian Man statues
You should be... A multitude appears to be unfolding and I believe... that was catalyst for... some bad stuff.
I'm excited to see what more you have to say on this. Love the videos so much, such an eye opener everytime.
I hope you enjoy!!!
That is to say that if we'd agreed to the original Albrecht plan and let Holvania explode the timeline would be secured and things would "end as we began"
But because, even as the drifter, we're very much bleeding heart heroic types Wally has played us well in creating a brand new timeline, a skewed timeline... One where Biff gets a fancy casino-err I mean... The Beasty Boils get a floating stadium.
I posted this a few days ago in a discord, tossing an idea out there that had been floating in my noodle following this quest. So gonna drop it here, too.
"Through our sacrifice, History will be saved.."
I've been leaning more and more into the idea that every "loop" we experience is just part of an even greater loop, one *all encompassing* loop..
Teach it or defang it with love.
I really hope rusalka shows up again and maybe we can fix her.
Me too. I still want her to be saryn.
Part of me hopes too, part of me wonder if someone named Rusalka even existed...
@ she had to have she was the breach that allowed mitw to make it to 1999 if she didn’t exist Wally wouldn’t be able to exert his will on the timeline.
@@TheDsIEGE idk if it means anything, but her robot arm is very similar in length to an Orokins.
I've been looking forward to this!
I hope you enjoyed!!!! Part two comes soon!
@@TheDsIEGEAnd I'll be looking forward to watching that too!
@@metalslug3fan Yeah I saw a post about it and decided to replay the quest for myself and they did indeed change it.
It was always _implied_ the Technocyte dated back to DarkSector. Now they've just confirmed it.
Where at the very top it is evil, indifferent rulers who govern us globally, globalists.
entrati is playing 4d chess, he can be trusted. though his methods may seem odd. his goal is to rid himself of indifference, realizing that LOVE is its weakness, being what is going to undo the indifference's anger
bird3 hints at this saying something along the lines of "he just wants to be included, but doesnt know how to fit in"
entrati knows that you have to learn to love others, thats why he's directing you through the hex group. to befriend them, bring them together as a team.
Tagfer has a more insightful version of Bird3's line.
Told you a few weeks ago Warframe is a love story but you still want the horror story, the red pill. It all comes down to the choices we make.... in game and in life.

By changing the events of the reactor and such, we may have accidentally created the Infested Liches xD
The "bomb" was supposed to erradicate everything in Hollvania, mainly the Techrot.
I wouldnt jump to that conclusion as D.E stated the coda liches arent related to the hex story and is its own seperate thing.
Apathy is another word for Indifference, and what is what people believe the true opposite of it? Love. It's "Poison."
1999 has been my favorite update to date for Warframe.
The Drifter hates TMITW because it made them be stuck in Duviri.
loved the intro (cant stop listening to On-lyne so infectious!) and the video! and i see that helios dressed up as ordis😊 (i have that set up to)
Entrati's role is somewhat explained by one of the messenger dialogues in which the Drifter explains the way that emotions are what shape the void *including* a little apathy.
Actually... it will be in part two because... I think we did exactly what it wanted.
The Drifter doesn't like being anyone's tool.
"We watch the world burn down around us" was suddenly a bit more literal than before)
The Hex are really cool characters as well, just like with the Cavia I speedran ranking up just to see more of the story. The 'dating sim' portion kinda felt out of left field when it was announced, but damn it actually works, and the characters clearly have a lot of thought and attention put into them (One of Amir's chats hit really close to home, and made me love him all the more)
One final note, calling the new operations center the "Backroom" became a liiiittle too fitting for me yesterday, as I unlocked a new fear when I got trapped in the Helminth chair and couldn't leave
Fantastic update, 10/10, would wield an RPG while standing in the back of a truck again
Man I love how much you reference The Matrix
Bro i absolutely loved the intro! 🎉 Great job with the scenes to go along with that hot of a song
Thank you!! It was a really fun one to make!
I thought Amir died from a heart attack because he was going too fast and was panicking.
@@urazz7739 he would have
But the loop was changed, and Al shot him before the heart attack could take him out.
Maybe.... it's tough to say yet but you might be on to something here
If i remember correctly, when you pick the neutral dialog option, the drifter mentions that she is not at fault.
The Hex (Quest) -
The main quest was awesome!
The Hex Epilogue: The Kalymos Sequence -
"...from within The Derelict Horror, they had found a way to take an _ugly, _*_broken_* thing...and take away its pain."
Even all this time later, those same words continue to prove that the ultimate weapon of The Tenno is Compassion and Empathy.
Speculation -
It was during your explanation of the initial Zariman scene, of Drifter being spoken to by Wally and shown the demise of each member of The Hex, when I had to get up.
He really likes having us do all his work for him, doesn't he, lol???
I was waiting for your video since 1999 came out. And it's absolute cinema 🖐😩🖐 Can't wait for part2. This 51 minute flew by.
I'm glad you enjoyed it!!!! I did my best to make it an enjoyable experience on top of just telling the story!
Great video! There's definitely more going on tho- can't wait for Part 2!
You have commited one of my cardinal sins of warframe. "Not having music on during quests" in not having the original music going when that epic musical swell was meant to be when you transfer into authur.
But asides from that:
*[clears throat]* HIT ME WITH THAT RED PILL, --MORPHEUS-- SIEGE. JUST DO IT.
"Hey, lose your light? Here, you can take mine."
"Your heart would struggle to move them. It had to grow... The only way it ever does... ...with others."
Albrecht & Little Bengel are threats...
Ah and how could I forget:
“Time’s up, kiddo. I can save them, all of them. But you have to want it… "
Wait, did you edit out the musical climax when Drifter saves Arthur? That’ the best part of the whole sequence :(
I unfortunately had to... I NEEDED you to hear Albrecht's voice.
Now you're cooking with gas!
Remember kiddo, truth... is not always the most beautiful one.
This... is such a profound and... RELEVANT statement.
My ear catched something strange in indifference’s dialog in this quest: the oneS (or otherS) before you were butcherS
Why plural? Are these others just orokin? Or were there someone else? Maybe it’s about others in other dimensions or timelines (or something else more fitting for eternalism) because, as we know, orokin might have stolen only one star - tau, but stars as well spoken in plural
Maybe, it’s just a manner of speech
But maybe it’s a big topic for discussion
I believe "stolen stars" refers to space travel. From my understanding, advanced space travel required void power. Both the Railjacks, which seemed to be at least semi-common in Orokin times, and the Zariman, utilize void power to travel freely. We always figured that the Reliquary Drives were duplicates of Wally's original fingers, but they could have very well been "harvested" after Albrecht pioneered void travel.
Something's been bugging me ever since I saw "Sequence Complete" it just felt too easy and too short for that to be it... Now I'm wondering what else you're going to be pointing out in part two.
or... did we even want that to happen?
42:35 a beautiful parallel to " [...] not their void devilry, not their alien darkness. Its was something else. It was that, somehow, from within that derilict horror they had learned a way to look inside an ugly broken thing and take away its pain... "
"Things still seem pretty functional"
4:36
you know. underneath all this there is a hint at what comes next. we ARE going to tau. period end of story. the holdfasts specifically the archemedian says she can make the jump 100% this time. and the dialogue you get with lettie shows there is a deeper connection with the sentients, tau and the indifference.
wether it be next year or the year after. we are going to tau
I swear Google is in my brain. I remember thinking to myself like 2 hours ago. "There still stuff in that quest I don't understand I gotta look up a video on it." Behold a channel I never heard of on my feed explaining the quest to me.
A thing I did not notice while playing the quest, is that you can see the clock briefly change to requiems as the drifter resets the timeline
If you pause the intro during that part, I put them in there for you...
This is giving so much storyline to the Drifter. Metaphor: aren’t we all drifting through this thing we call life?
28:13 *RAP. TAP. TAP.* in the background
This is such a great catch, something that is in the "red pill" vid coming... all kinds of little hints. Good eye!!!
A few days ago I had an epiphany. What Drifter seems to pull from them in order to save them are strands of khra.
Man… imagine we eventually go to Tau, a new Star chart to go through and all… a man can dream
15:22 I call them the Proto Rangers :3
To me it seemed that 1999 had 2 purposes to "open the way to tau" and as well to mature Albrecht's "weapon" us. This for me makes a lot of sense since he always has a failsafe and its really clear that we are his failsafe to keep the indiference at bay
1:04 No open relationships, Ellie. I'm as possessive as you are.
What if Al is trying to figure out a way to cure his one family also. Even though he is cold and calculating he does seem to love them.
I love Albrechts voice over so much, his actor needs an award or something
He was absolutely banking on Drifter using the time loop. Now that she’s stuck in that “love loop” maybe he’s farming what comes from her relationships with the Hex. He wants us here, Calymos is absolutely his spy (Lettie is paranoid for a reason), and he keeps twisting things until we bend to his will. No one is *this* shady if they have truly good intentions. 1999’s quest ending is a carrot at the end of Entrati’s stick. Ugh I hate that you’re making us wait for the red pill!!!! Gimme the damn juice, Morpheus!!!!
I love that my only contribution to the ARG was randomly discovering a hidden password to one of the files before I even knew the ARG even existed 😅
Yes but... That was a huge contribution!
Been so excited for this! The title's got me deeply curious 👀 Here goes nothing! Thanks for the video Siege ^^
Ooooh, just wrapped up, goddamn it 😅 My hype train around this stuff seriously needs to stop at this point, revved up all over again! Got a few theories my friend and I came up with after the quest, guess I'll put them here, it'll be interesting to reread when the next video comes out:
My guesses:
1) 1999 is a "Strand of Khra", conceptually embodied timeline, like Duviri with a little more calculation put in, and unfortunately we might have just helped the Orokin rise to power all over again. "Back again to do this and we're gonna do it right." This time, the Indifference, or Entrati, or someone else entirely, will be on top like they BELIEVE (😉😉) they should have been, and we've manufactured it for them. The so-called "Sun" reality to our origin system's "Moon".
2) We are in the past of the *drifter's* timeline which had already existed, and we've just handed it on a silver platter to the Indifference, while in the future yet to be the drifter, the only person able to freely oppose it, is conveniently tucked out of the way, and it's all ripe for the taking
3) We have just irreparably damaged the past and tore new Zariman-style holes to the future, and the infestation has already begun to change through those fresh wounds in time (notice anything different about infested ancients since the patch, anybody?)
Don't like it, not one bit.
It wasn't. But... the red pill will expound on that.
Can't wait to see the red pill scenario.
My interpretation of the quest is the drifter was reluctantly along with Entrati's plan due to how he abandoned his family, loid & the treatment of the cavia but the turning point being when asked to shoot Rasalka seeing Albrecht in person completely disregard another's life all the while preaching to the drifter someone who we know is well aware of the consequences of one's actions due to duviri & his take on the Zarinam incident itself illuminated through the KIM messages
Reached his/her breaking point like that of tagfer, the hex and even Kalymos the void explaining its side of the story whispering once more in a familliar place to the drifter Entrati's plan and why the indifference even pursues him in the first place.
Or, the indifference mid conversation possesses albretch because for all we know Entrati isnt aware of the drifter's ability to rewind time and the echoing filter he has towards the end mimics the indifference too
Even during the finale the indifference questions the drifter on why they are saving the hex as if trying to understand what drives them as Albrecht will find a way to kill the hex to obtain the energy he wants to reach Tau one way or another.
"Wield this power with mercy tenno"
Why would entrati say that as if he didn't know what compassion was or someone that didn't know how powerful an emotion it is in the first place.
My theory is we come full circle and end up offering the void a deal to stop Entrati's plans whatever they may be with Tau and to stop the Sentients there as afterall Sentients are weak to void
How long must I wait for Part 2!! That ending was a bigger cliffhanger than DE gives us lmao
happy new year dseige and to all 🎉🎉🎉
Happy new year!!!
33:19 It took me forever to figure out how he dies, and it's pretty damn sad through irony.
He pushed himself too far. His heart exploded.
“Flayed Flesh…for stolen stars..”
GOOSEBUMPS😭
