I left mine on the wall took out the batteries and just blew the hot hairdryer over it till the screen went dark, then blew cold air over it till it cooled down, then I put batteries back in and checked it, did this a couple of times and then finally the screen worked as good as the first day!! Thanks for this tip saved me a bit of money
Hello... Please do you mean you did not take it apart? You only removed the batteries and blow dried the scree whilst it was still mounted on the wall with the covers on?
Got the video recommended as watch another yesterday someone send me. It’s a great fix. Even used a toaster myself (20 seconds) worked like a charm and saved some real money in these hard times.
Howdy Jox, thanks for the video, i bought a CMT 927A on marked place with this problem. I followed your instructions ,and used a hairdryer for heating it up. The problem is fixed. My daughter was very happy with her new thermostaat for 20 euro. Greetings from the Netherlands.
Just completed this fix after watching the video, I used a hairdryer for about 30 seconds, until the screen went dark. I left it to cool before removing the clips and it is perfect. Thank you very much, really easy to do and saved me £50-£60.
Thanks for sharing this. I just fixed my screen following your instructions - I used a hairdryer on the screen for 2 minutes untill the screen was an even dark colour. Then left it to cool until it was back to green. Thanks so much - you saved me a lot of money.
I’ve been struggling to read my display for a while now and it went completely blank the other day. I was just about to pay £100 for a replacement when I came across this video. I’m glad I did because it worked. Had to do it with a hairdryer twice but the screen is now back to normal. Top man 👍🏻
Hello Sir, Being a person who works in electronics, this maintenance input is a real thing I liked learning from you, moreover, you handled the device like a baby from dismantling to reassembly..that's the good part any professional to learn. In India generally, people don't give attention to Screws, Snapfits, Retainer locks when they do service at all. that makes me impatient.
Thank you. The toaster method didn't quite work, but using a hair dryer got the display working enough so it's usuable until we get the boiler replaced in a few weeks time.
Thank you very much !! I’m french, and i just repaired the LCD of my Honeywell CM907 controller unit thanks to your video, a hairdryer and clips !! (first time it didn’t work, so i tried a lutter longer a second time, making sure
Pretty much worked first time (other than a tiny missing bit of an 'o' from room temperature) using a hair dryer for a while to turn screen black. Much appreciated.
Thanks a lot. I was still a little doubtful, but after executing the procedure I recovered a perfect screen (and realized why my settings were completely off. I just did skip the last step - the screen was too tightly fit in the transparent plastic layer, so I applied heat without separating them.
Excellent video ! I followed it step by step, my wife has a small heat gun for crafting ,but i think a hairdryer should work just keep moving around the lcd display until the screen goes black You can get the small clips like you used in your video from B&M or poundstretcher 20 clips for 79p - £1.20 a tub It worked on my 10 year old Display unit. Thank You Again
I had a go too and after a few attempts I figured out it was the plastic ribbon cable coming away from the circuit board. Once the glass screen is flipped up off the white backing. Behind the white backing is where the cable is stuck to the circuit board running my finger across this to stick it back down fixed the issue. I think the heating and clapping probably achieves the same effect.
Wish I saw this yesterday. Did everything in this video but heat it up. And then got a replacement. My +&- buttons had been faulty for years though so the new unit will sort that at least. 😡
Hi, Just followed this with limited sucess on our CM907. After re-assembly all of the displays are working only they are dim. yes new batteries. Should I try a second time?? Just opened it up a second time and cleaned every contact with contact cleaner, plus replaced the batteries wit a second new set....Result :) looks as good as new.
@@JOXVOX Further update: I had issues after the repair in that the 2 up/down temp buttons did not work. This was down to me and my cleaning of the back of these buttons with contact cleaner, I am a fool!!! in doing this I cleaned off the conductive coating, yes I know I am fool!! However I managed to repair these with an HB pencil rubber over the button suface, so all good. Might be worth adding a note to your video warning about this.
reactivating the conductive adhesive to the LCD is really clever! I wonder if a reflow oven set to a low temperature would be a safer method to accomplish this. (lots of youtube video's on diy reflow :) )
Creo que si lo intentas lentamente y con cuidado, lo harás bien. Tienes poco que perder si lo intentas. suerte ya me cuentas como te va, saludos. Beto.

Hello Sir, I just realized that a heat gun can be used to reactivate the LCD. Then hopefully hair dyer too, can be used instead of heat gun
Yes the hair dryer is the safer option, just heat evenly and avoid hotspots, thanks for your comment, Bob.
